"Hah!" roared the knight. "Is that all you've got?" A low rumbling from the ground beneath his feet silenced Sir Ambrose. The earth shook, ever so slightly, and then something sprang forth. Aldwin watched as small tendrils appeared, growing into thick vines. They reached forward, like a pair of arms, wrapping around the bars that formed the portcullis. Sir Ambrose disappeared from view as the plant grew even more, and soon the entire entrance looked like a giant bush. With first a creaking noise, and then a popping sound as metal was torn from metal, the plants stopped growing, as Albreda lowered her hands, speaking a single word. The vines shrivelled, growing ever thinner until they disappeared back into the ground. The portcullis was gone, reduced to nothing more than broken and twiste
