Veronicas POV:
I'm beyond angry that Larry did that to me the silver piercing my body is getting to me. I will be put into the cage for sure now because I can't concentrate. My mom doesn't even know, how can't she see that this is happening or that I'm in pain. All she is doing is smiling at me, like a proud stage mom. I'm trying to keep my breathing calm because I know my eyes are trying to turn black. That means Trixie is trying to come out and play. What it actually means is she is very pissed off and wants to ring their necks. She won't actually come out because the silver affects her more but it doesn't mean that my eyes won't make me easily detectable as something other than human.
Larry has been on me since he did that to me in the car like he thinks I will run away. Goddess, I wish! He took my clothes that covered up this costume. I don't know when or if I'll be getting them back tonight. This is just so frustrating and my nerves are really going. It could be that it is significantly louder than the last time I was here due to the music and the number of people here. It also smells in here. The smell I can't even describe it. It's like a mix of sweat, alcohol, and human but there are some other smells that make me question if there are only humans here tonight.
Right on the hour, I step onto the center stage, looking awkward and uncomfortable. I really have no clue as to what I'm doing. My mother tried to give me some tips and keeps giving looks towards me. If the lights weren't blinding me maybe I'd be able to see if they were good or bad looks but it's probably better that I don't know.
It felt like a lifetime but it was probably less than five minutes I was pulled off stage and taken to the silver cage off to the side. What did I do? Did my eyes go black? Was it my awkward standing and moving around? I will surely get punished by Larry for this, and will probably pass out being in that cage. Could this night go any slower...
Alpha Jacks POV:
When I entered, I was shown my table in the back off to the side. It was probably the best table in the whole place if there was such a thing. This table is what would be called in the VIP section, which is funny because this is such a low-class place that there shouldn't be one. Anyway, I can see centerstage perfectly, am close to the bar but far enough where they can't hear me speak. They have a cage off to the side but still in front of this whole area. If I'm correct the cage costs a large sum of money, so people don't pay much attention to the girls in it. The best part of the table is that it's far enough away from other people. It is good for shop talk so that people don't actually have to hear about what is actually going on, plus it makes me look impressive to have it. This table and area aren't typically used on a day to day business, just when high rollers come in or big business. People just enjoy the show more when they are closer to the girls and the manager of the girls.
While I was waiting for Alpha Dex to arrive and the show to start, I look around to make sure everything was in order and that's when I saw her... It was Margret. I didn't know she worked here, why does she work here. She had a job at the Laundry place. She seems so distracted, that she won't even see me. It needs to stay that way. I need no drama when Alpha Dex gets here. I really thought seeing my rejected mate would arise some feelings as I've heard by others but it just doesn't. Maybe I just don't have a heart or am broken, that is what she said when I said I didn't want her or the baby. It is still strange to see her with the security guard. It explains the smell I got in the parking lot. It is muffled by the smell of this place, but I knew it was here as well. They are standing close like they are together but something seems to be off. They are talking and smiling at one of the girls. The security guard is looking at her intensely. Hmm, is he cheating on Margret right under her nose? It looks like it could be the same girl I saw when they were walking in. She seems young, I wonder if this is the new girl that they have going today. I hope it is not her first show, I said I wanted young and new but not like brand new. I wanted someone who didn't look like they'd seen the horrors and misery. Well, this place does have a rule if they don't like the way the girl is on the stage, she'll go to the cage. Hopefully, she does well, if not they better have a good back up. Please don't be Margret, I never want to see that again. Yikes.
I was dragged out of my thoughts when I see Alpha Dex being escorted to my table. He has an interesting look in his eye, almost like a hunger. Is this how he looks all the time? Please be a hunger of desire for the girls and not to take over the pack. "I am Alpha Jack, I don't get intimidated," I think to myself. I'm just not used to visitors and I just need this to go smoothly so that he leaves and never comes back.
I stand when he reaches the table, and shake his hand before sitting. "Hello Alpha Dex, it is a pleasure to have you join me this evening. The show should be starting very soon." And all he does is nod in return to my statement. Hmm... it must be the girls. I wonder if they have places like this in his pack? It might be overwhelming for first-timers, especially young ones like himself. "I hope you're enjoying our sister town. This is where we have every visitor stay and is the hub for our entertainment. I would have had you stay closer to the pack if there was room, but I'm not one to kick people out of their homes when visitors want to suddenly arrive." I shouldn't even be explaining myself to this guy, but then it seems like I have nothing to hide. Hiding my land has been one of my highest priorities since that dreadful attack. When your allies, know the lay of the land they know the heart and how to take down a pack, it will never happen again.
"I would never want to push people out of their homes, just to visit. That seems very rude, especially when one is merely a guest. I do appreciate our meeting, even if it couldn't be at your office. Unless of course, this is your office?" Alpha Dex questioned. Was he being snarky with me? What kind of Alpha has a club as their office? Is he coming at who I am as an Alpha? I hate that... I just started chucking and he joined in with me. Little did he know I did this suppress how annoyed I was getting.
"This is not my office, but doing business here usually isn't bad. There are no werewolves who work here so their ignorance is bliss. They also intimidate easily. I'm pretty sure they just think I'm a mob boss, therefore I run this town. " I explain to him.
"Oh really, there are no werewolf workers here? I swear I smelt something when I first came in." He said looking annoyed, and slightly angry.
"Everyone I'd like to present a special girl. She is one of our newest additions to our family here. Everyone this is V." The manager said then left the stage. There was the girl again. She was interesting looking, to say the least. She clearly didn't know what she was doing. It was uncomfortable to watch. I think Alpha Dex was enjoying himself or hated it based on how he was sitting next to me. Then I saw something small. Holy crap! Her eyes flickered black. It was so brief, but I knew that. Whose wolf is she! Then I looked at Margret again and she's staring at her. She looks angry, but like she's seen it before. The security guard seemed to smile at this slip-up, but like he knew. No... no... it can't be... no... she's my daughter! I'm so enraged, all these human men looking at her. I excuse myself from Alpha Dex and get the manager to cage her. This is not how tonight was supposed to go but at least I can keep an eye on her.
