First time in highschool
Episode 1: First Time in High School Ethan's life was a mess. His family's business was drowning in debt, and his parents were counting on one thing to save them: his marriage to Jenny, daughter of tech mogul, Richard Walker. The plan was set. Ethan would transfer to Jenny's posh high school, get close to her, and seal the deal. Simple. But there was one problem. Ethan had never even talked to Jenny. As he stepped off the bus at Oakwood High, he felt like a pawn in a game he didn't want to play. The campus was a sea of designer labels and luxury cars. He stood out like a sore thumb in his thrift store jeans. "Ethan Miller?" a voice said behind him. He turned. A girl with striking blue eyes and blonde hair smiled at him. "I'm Jenny. Welcome to Oakwood." Ethan's gut twisted. This was her? The girl he was supposed to marry? "Hey," he said, trying to play it cool. Jenny linked her arm through his. "Let's get you settled. We have a lot to catch up on." Ethan felt a shiver. Was this the start of a nightmare... or something else, Ethan said to himself while walking together with Jenny? When class began, Ethan was drowning in calculus, struggling to keep up with the fast-paced lessons. Mr. Thompson's lectures went way over his head, and he was starting to feel like everyone else had a math gene he didn't. During lunch, he found himself sitting next to Mira in the cafeteria. She was buried in a book, but looked up when he sighed. "Need help?" she asked, nodding at his textbook. Ethan hesitated. "Calculus isn't exactly my thing." Mira smiled and closed her book. "I got this." For the next hour, Mira walked Ethan through derivatives and integrals. Her explanations made it sound easy. As the bell rang, he turned to her. "Thanks, I owe you one." Mira shrugged. "Just don't tell anyone I'm a math nerd." He tried to ask her for her name when she rushed as if she was in a hurry and said, "My name is Mira and see you later." Ethan grinned. There was something about her that made him feel... different. Meanwhile, Jenny was watching from across the cafeteria, her eyes narrowing. What was Ethan doing with Mira? Ethan was walking out of the cafeteria when Jenny caught up with him. "Hey, Ethan. Want to come to my party tonight? It's going to be epic." Ethan hesitated. He knew what this party meant — it was a chance for their families to solidify the "arrangement". But he didn't want to go. "Uh, I'll try," he said, knowing he'd probably get pressured into it. Jenny smiled. "Great! I'll send a car for you at 8." As she walked off, Mira appeared beside him. "Party?" Ethan shrugged. "Jenny's thing. Don't want to go." Mira said, smiling at him, saying, "You really need to go, or isn't she your fiancé?" she said as she giggled. Ethan was surprised at what Mira said. He asked how she knew about their marriage, but Mira didn't answer and walked out of the cafeteria. Ethan got furious and decided to break free of the marriage.
