I fled in the middle of the night with nothing but a dying car, a shaking heartbeat, and a past that refused to stay buried. Betrayal had carved me open, left me bleeding in ways no one could see, and forced me to run from the only life I’d ever known. I didn’t have a destination. I didn’t have a plan. I only had one desperate hope: that the world was big enough for me to disappear inside it.

But fate had other ideas.

The storm hit just as I crossed into a forgotten coastal town, a place where the ocean roared louder than the people and secrets clung to the air like salt. I thought I’d found somewhere quiet enough to hide. I thought I’d found a place where no one would look twice at a girl who walked in with fear in her eyes and lies on her tongue.

I was wrong.

The moment I stepped into The Iron Serpent Bar, everything changed. The air shifted. The noise dimmed. And a man stepped out of the shadows like he’d been waiting for me.

Lucien.

He was danger wrapped in leather and tattoos, a storm of his own making. His eyes were cold, assessing, and impossibly sure. The kind of eyes that didn’t ask permission — they took. The kind of eyes that warned every man in the room to stay away from me. The kind of eyes that made my breath catch and my pulse trip over itself.

He didn’t ask who I was.

He didn’t ask where I came from.

He didn’t ask why I was shaking.

He simply said, “You walked into my bar. That makes you mine to protect.”

I should have run.

I should have pushed past him and fled back into the storm.

I should have remembered that men like him were the reason girls like me learned to hide.

But Lucien wasn’t just a biker.

He wasn’t just dangerous.

He wasn’t just the President of the Iron Serpents MC — the deadliest motorcycle club on the coast.

He was also my new boss.

Because by day, Lucien wore bespoke suits, commanded boardrooms, and signed billion‑dollar deals with the same ruthless precision he used to rule the streets at night. He was a man with two empires, two worlds, and two faces — and somehow, both of them were turning toward me.

I didn’t know it then, but walking into his bar wasn’t an accident.

It was destiny.

It was the beginning of a ride I never asked for, never wanted, and couldn’t escape.

And Lucien wasn’t the only one waiting.

There were three others — three men bound to him by loyalty, blood, and a darkness that mirrored my own.

Rhett, the silent mechanic with scars he never explained and eyes that saw straight through my lies.

Jax, the reckless enforcer whose violence came as easily as his smile, a man who could break bones or hearts with equal skill.

Cole, the strategist, calm and lethal, the one who spoke softly but carried secrets sharp enough to cut.

I thought I had to choose between them.

I thought desire was a dangerous game I could play and walk away from.

I thought I understood what it meant to be wanted.

But the Iron Serpents don’t share with outsiders.

They don’t compete.

They don’t fight each other for a woman.

They claim her together.

And they claimed me.

Not because I was beautiful.

Not because I was broken.

Not because I was running.

The Runaway
The storm hit the coast just as I crossed the county line, a wall of gray swallowing the horizon and turning the sleepy seaside town into a blur of rain‑slick asphalt and shuttered windows. I didn’t slow down. I couldn’t. Every mile between me and the life I’d fled felt like oxygen returning to my lungs. By the time I rolled into town, my car was coughing like it shared my exhaustion. The neon sign of the first open building flickered through the downpour: THE IRON SERPENT BAR. A coiled serpent wrapped around a motorcycle engine. Subtle wasn’t their style. I parked beneath the awning, gripping the steering wheel until my knuckles ached. You’re safe. No one knows you’re here. The lie tasted bitter, but I swallowed it anyway. Inside, the bar was dim, warm, and loud enough to drown out my thoughts. Music thumped from old speakers, and the scent of leather, smoke, and spilled whiskey clung to the air. Men in dark denim and inked skin crowded the tables, their laughter sharp and dangerous. I kept my head down as I approached the counter. But the moment I stepped inside, I felt it—heat prickling the back of my neck. A presence. A gaze. Heavy, unblinking, territorial. I didn’t have to look to know someone had marked me. The bartender, a woman with silver hair and a serpent tattoo curling up her throat, gave me a once‑over. “You look like you outran the devil.” “Something like that,” I murmured. Before she could respond, the air shifted. A shadow fell across the counter. The hairs on my arms rose. He stood beside me—tall, broad, and carved from something harder than bone. Tattoos climbed his throat and disappeared beneath a black shirt stretched over muscle. His eyes were a cold, assessing blue, the kind that stripped you down to secrets you didn’t know you carried. “New in town,” he said. Not a question. I forced myself to meet his gaze. “Just passing through.” His jaw flexed, a slow, deliberate motion. “No. You’re staying.” My breath caught. “Excuse me?” He leaned in, voice low enough that only I could hear. “You walked into my bar. That makes you mine to protect.” Protect. The word sounded more like claim. I stepped back, but he followed, not touching me—just crowding my space with the certainty of a man who never heard the word no. “Name’s Lucien,” he said. “President of the Iron Serpents.” President. Not owner. Not manager. President. A biker gang. A dangerous one. I should have run. I should have turned around and walked back into the storm. But his eyes held me in place, a magnetic pull I didn’t understand. Something in them wasn’t cruel—it was possessive, yes, but also… watchful. Like he’d already decided to stand between me and whatever hunted me. “You look like you’re hiding,” he said softly. “And I don’t let trouble touch what’s mine.” “I’m not yours,” I whispered. His lips curved, not quite a smile. “Walking away isn’t an option. Not anymore.” Lightning cracked outside, illuminating the bar in a flash of white. The storm raged. My past raged harder. And Lucien—this tattooed, dangerous stranger—stood between me and the door like fate had dragged me to him. I didn’t know it yet, but this moment was the beginning of everything. The beginning of the ride. The beginning of the temptation. The beginning of the end of the girl I used to be. Lucien tilted his head, studying me like a puzzle he intended to solve. “Sit,” he said. “You’re shaking.” I sat. Not because he told me to. But because for the first time in months, I wasn’t running. I was being found.
