Chapter 1
The sun shone through the c***k in the window, even hitting my eyes. I slowly opened my eyes, staring blankly at the room, which is not much but the most comfortable place I have.
I grabbed my cell phone, checking if there was an incoming message. Nothing special, just a series of assignment messages from several teachers who filled today's lesson. Fed up? Of course. I'm getting tired of this online learning system, it feels as if my passion for life has just disappeared.
"You should be ashamed of the sun, Anna," said Mom, who suddenly barged in without permission.
"It's okay, Mom, I'm used to being shy," I joked without caring that now Mom was ready with her extraordinary babbling moves.
"You're right... you were told why you're nagging! Get up, hurry. The sun is almost up, you are still engrossed in sleeping in the room. Isn't the online class starting soon?"
I took a deep breath. "Yes."
"Take a shower, then have breakfast first. Don't sleep in the bathroom, watch out!” she threatened her with her hands on his hips.
"Yeah, got it."
Yes ... this is the latest activity of the Covid 19 generation. It's boring. At first, we were happy because we could take a vacation and study at home, but who would have thought that it would be prolonged and make some of us, including myself, get bored?
It's good, maybe like before, getting up late, late for school and being chased by Mr. Robert when we were caught entering through the back fence of the school. Rather than being like this, it felt like zombies, waking up, sleeping, eating, studying and ... helping mommy do work that we would normally never do.
I'm Marie Anna, usually called Anna. Nothing special, only a student from one of the high school students who was waiting for graduation day to arrive. It's been almost 2 years since I've been homeschooled, all because of a deadly disease outbreak that has caused an uproar throughout the world.
Since the arrival of the virus, now my days are very boring. It feels like losing the enthusiasm to learn and always getting used to being lazy.
Now my body is fresh, my body smells good because I just finished my morning ritual. Yes—shower. After that, I rushed to the dining room. I will fill my stomach with the dishes that have been made by my mom.
These worms are too rebellious for food to make me very hungry. I ate it quite calmly, hoping that after breakfast … my spirit returned to study.
Ah … I think it's quite filling. I immediately decided to return to the room. I saw the clock was going to eight, a sign that class was about to start. I opened my cell phone screen, and there was already a teacher who had come in.
The teacher shared a Zoom meeting link to start learning so that the explanation was more effective. Huh ... luckily the signal at my house is good. But unfortunately, my internet package is always drained because of the learning application.
I've run out of snacks several times because I bought an internet package to study. But to be honest… the teacher explains in any detail, if it doesn't reach the student's brain, it's the same as not understanding. We as students want to complain because of that, especially since I'm quite slow.
I immediately opened the laptop and entered the study application. It was also seen that there were friends behind the laptop screen. Honestly, this longing is getting unstoppable.
We can only meet through virtual only. Remember back to the old tenth grade where togetherness was always there every day.
The naughty things that classmates always do, now we can't feel. Too bad… again because of the virus.
At the end of the lesson, each teacher always asks questions. "Does anyone have any questions?"
Honestly, I understand very well that no one understands the material being explained. But at a time like this, everyone was reluctant to ask. We'd rather discuss it later at the forum.
"Because no one wants to ask. Therefore, Father will ask you."
Kill! I said dead! All of our lives seem to be in danger this time. I immediately turned my face to the book in front of me to look like I was understanding the material. In fact, not at all.
Not long after that, it was seen that someone raised his hand. That student was my classmate who was known as the naughtiest student in tenth grade, when we were still studying face-to-face.
Even so, now his mischief is still well known by all the teachers who teach. I thought he would save our lives by asking the teacher questions about the material, but in fact—
"Yes, what's the question, son?" said the teacher, inviting my friend to ask.
“S-sorry, sir. I need to pee, I want permission to go to the toilet first."
I almost let out a laugh, just to be able to hold my mouth. If not, maybe I will be the center of attention in this class.
The teacher who teaches clapping, "you count to three, if no one asks ... then you will point it out," said the teacher, making the students' hearts beat wildly.
Actually, if the teacher explained face-to-face… maybe, we would understand it right away. But because it's an online result, everything is the other way around.
"One …"
"Two …"
Don't know what the reason is. This kind of atmosphere scares us. Afraid to be asked. Because we were confused about what to answer.
Even given the opportunity to ask questions, he was confused about what to ask. All we want is to be given the opportunity to complain… I'm sure, if all the students are guaranteed to speak up.
"T-"
"Me, sir!" Before the teacher had time to finish his speech, suddenly one of the students raised his hand until the teacher's words were cut off.
That student is Carla, the top student for every teacher in all subjects. It's a really extraordinary miracle. We hope she can help in this very tense situation.
Carla and the teacher were arguing about the material that had just been taught. My friends and I couldn't help but stare at what they were talking about. Carla was so troublesome that she had an argument with the teacher. It's epic.
Finally, class was over. Now I'm surfing on social media. I peek at the class group in the Room Chat application.
[Crazy, Carl. Because of you, the class took so long to finish.]
I just chuckled. It's true, too, Carla argues that very long causes class hours to increase.
[Hey! Don't be obnoxious. Thanks to Carla, Teacher didn't throw questions at the city, did he?”
[He he… that's right, anyway.]
For whatever reason… It felt tiring to endure boredom. Often, teachers do not understand the condition of our students. Now the task is increased several times compared to face-to-face.
We were forced to do it all. Even though we always look for the answers to the tasks given to us on the internet, this is still not a stroke of luck. I call this a curse!
