CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
When darkness fell, Dan told everyone to go home and return at first light. Hunter knew there was little chance of finding Olivia on Waiheke, the twins might suffer from mental health issues, but that didn’t render them stupid or careless. Snatching the principal in broad daylight in a small island community meant they had no option to leave, but he also understood the need to turn over every rock and grain of sand in the hunt for clues. In a car, the only way off was via the vehicular ferry at Kennedy Point, the shortest crossing was to the eastern Auckland suburb of Panmure, and he had Rick had talked late into the night how that option made complete sense. Rick’s ability to analyse amazed Hunter, they discussed option after option, tried inserting themselves into the role of kidnappers.
