Chapter 30 Calvin made it down two flights of steps before his right thigh, then his left cramped hard and deep. He sucked air in through his teeth and sat hard on the stone step. He tried shaking his legs, digging into the agonized muscle with his fingers, then the heel of his hand. Nothing eased the pain or released the tension. He gasped, trying to hide how much it hurt, but no one was around him. The crowd around the dock below was bigger. The only place that might be occupied with so much going on was the medical facility another flight down and a short walk away. He pulled himself up and hobbled down the steps, now hoping no one would come out and see how goofy he was walking.
