The first day in the academy Part 1

[This should be everything I need right?]

Raven thought as he pack all the things he needed in his backpack.

“Have you packed your lunch already? Or you want to buy them at the cafeteria?” she asked with a gentle voice.

His mother is preparing all his needs like a kid in primary school. Raven felt uncomfortable of her doing such things but she insisted so there is nothing much he can do about it when his mother decided on something.

“I already have mom” [Thought is don’t really need to eat anything to live.]

He thought as he answered his mother.

“Then I will be on my way Mom.” He said with a smile. “Be careful on your way back okay?” she reminded. “You too, be careful on the way to the market.

[There he goes to continue his dream.]

She thought as teas started to break from her eye the moment Raven disappeared in a distance.

[I hope he has a nice day.]

[Hmmmm, I haven’t seen meet a student going to the academy from this side of the city. Autie Helen said that she want me to meet her daughter after class and apparently she is a good friend of my mother so I can’t say no to a request since she was the only one who had been there for Mom after I disappeared.]

He thought as he pass by the houses one by one hoping to meet some students from the academy but to his surprise he met none.

“Am I really the student from these parts?” he told himself aloud with a disappointed voice.

[I was hoping I can find a friend that goes home with the same direction as I am.]

His face frowned after meeting no student that goes home in his direction. He is already out of their district when he saw some students walking towards the academy.

“You got up really early”

“Good morning!”

“How is your weekend?”

“……..”

Some of the students met their friends on the way to the academy and chatted along the road.

[So many students come from other district except for ours?]

He thought as he walk pass by students to students.

[Is it just me? But why is it that I am only seeing female students more than the males? And as far as I can see the male students are here with me on the way to the academy are staying on the sides away from the female students. It’s strange.]

He thought as he look left and right to make a proper conclusion.

“Is it just me? Because I have not seen a guy like that in our school in the past three years of attending the academy.” A girl said as she pointed at the ever so focused Raven trying to figure out the right conclusion to his deduction.

“You sure? Where?” another one said trying to find Raven on her own.

“There! Look! The guy with the purple hair almost at the gate.”

[I am almost at the gate but why can’t I figure it out! This is frustrating, I can’t even solve a problem.]

He thought as shake his head in frustration. (You can’t really solve a problem just by looking at it for the first time thought.)

“Hey kid, I haven’t seen you around here. Are you lost?” the guard asked in an intimidating tone.

“Oh! Sorry, I only went here the other day and had a talk- oh I almost forgot! Elder Rigor de Vanscu gave me a permit if ever I had a trouble in entering the academy.”

He said as he took a piece of paper in his bag.

[From Elder Rigor himself? And it really had his stamp on it!]

The guard thought as he was surprised by the permit that Raven showed. A Permission for Admittance is only given in some special occasions.

“Oh, is that him?” the other one exclaimed. “Quite an eye-catcher isn’t he?” the other one acclaimed. “Kate take a look.” She said with an excited face. “Okay, okay whatever.” Kate said with an annoyed tone.

Her eyes widen the moment her eyes set sight on Raven who was interrogated by the guards.

“Woah! A Permission for Admission from the one and only Elder Rigor himself!” the girl exclaimed.

“Wow he got to meet Elder Rigor? How cool is that?!”

[He really got admitted in the academy?! That’s a joke right?! I have to do something about it.]

She thought as she walk towards the guard.

“Is this enough?” Raven ask after showing the guard the note.

*Clears throat* “Ahem, it’s enough. Sorry for the trouble-“

“Surely that is not enough to let him inside the academy right?!”

The guard was interrupted when a voice behind him butt in on his conversation with Raven.

“Who said that-“the guards eyes widen as he saw the person who is brave enough to butt in on their business.

It was Thomas and the boys who used to bully Raven in the past and the guard seem to have fear their group that he didn’t even mutter a word. Some of the students heard Thomas loud voice as he yell that it made them want to witness what will happen next.

[So it was him, they won’t really stop going at me huh?] Raven thought as he saw the proud boy with his friends. [He did say that he attends the academy right? Yes he did say that. I don’t want to be arrogant but his mana is so thin that even that tree over there is so lively with all the mana it had compare to this guy.] he thought as he glance at the innocent tree beside the gate.

“So you really want to attend the academy huh? I thought you were kidding about going to the academy but you really did. How amusing!” he said as he pointed at Raven. “You poor thing, a curse should not go around infecting his curse to everyone he meets.” He said proudly.

“What is Thomas saying Kate?” the girls beside Kate had the same question. “That guy is the one I told you about.” She said while smiling. “What?! The one who defeated Thomas?” they exclaimed.

Kate immediately got annoyed when they did not remember what Kate told them about Raven.

“Yes- and the one who keeps stalking me when I was a child.” She said with an annoyed voice.

“OH! That one huh? What a shame!” they said as they shook their heads.

“So what do you want from me now? Is it another duel or what?”

Raven asked Thomas as he put the note inside his bag. Thomas got angry after remembering the time when raven beat him with a busted sword that is full of rust.

“That time was a just a fluke and you just got lucky but look at you now, saying it proudly that you beat me because you got lucky.” He said as sweat started to break off from his forehead.

[This guy is really trying so hard to appear like a hotshot when he is clearly sweating in fear that everyone might learn the truth. And speaking of mana, there are numerous strong mana around here in the academy right now. I don’t think that demi-humans are much stronger than that of a regular human but most of them are quite strong even just the ones around me. I can feel their mana scratching my skin and there is one strong mana coming this way.]

He thought as he look at Thomas with a funny face trying not to let as single giggle out.

Thomas can feel that Raven is trying to make him look like a fool and it made him even angrier. Another guard showed up at the gate while fixing his clothes.

“What is going on here? Oh kid, what seems to be the problem?” he ask with a bright smile.

[Oh! He is one of the guards that were here when I went to the academy the other day. What a blessing!] he thought as he hold his hands in his imagination.

“Nothing mister, he was just surprised that he saw me for the first time so I had to show him the note that the elder gave me in case.” He replied as he smiled.

The other guard was confused that his partner is talking to the kid casually.

“Oh so that was it! I’m sorry for the trouble young man. The partner I had the other day called in sick so he had to come in on his place.” He apologized as he pat the back of the other guard.

“Oh- it is okay. That was not something as troubling.” Raven replied as he scratch the back of his head.

Kate and her friend as well as the boys with Thomas had a surprised face when the guard that arrived just not seem to have no problem with Raven entering the academy even though it is their second time meeting.

“He even paid the guard to enter the academy. How unsightly.” Thomas muttered in a loud voice.

[Who the heck this kid think he is?!] the guard thought as their heads turned to Thomas.

“Hey Thomas, hating on the guy is another thing but saying that the guards are receiving tolls is another thing.” One of his friend reprimanded.

The other students who heard him had a bitter taste in their mouth as well that even Kate’s friends agrees that it is not right to accuse the guards of something they did not do.

“What is the big problem, they are just guards right? They get their salary by our fees so what is wrong?” he said in a cold tone. “Dude that is just so wrong. Anyway I am out of here.” His friend said as he shook his head.

“I admit that I am a bully but I am not someone who involves a person without any proof of what he has done.” He said as he walk away from Thomas.

After hearing what Thomas had said in public, Raven’s nerves started to bulge in his forehead in anger that he force to keep in check but some of his aura still manage to get out.

The atmosphere’s temperature drop significantly that the other students that have strong mana can feel Raven’s anger vibrating in the air.

“Hey you, you can say bad things about me but I won’t allow you to tell a lie about someone who is not even doing something wrong.” Raven said in a cold tone.

[I really hate people like him, it make me want to- stop here, me.] he thought as he bit his lip.

“Oh really? Then you want to give another duel a try? A p***y just left my circle but it doesn’t matter since he was just a luggage in the first place.” He said proudly while glancing at his friend who left him.

Thomas felt the drop of temperature but he still continue his prideful display of arrogance.

“Woah! Thomas is going at it really hard this time huh?” one of Kate’s friend said.

[It’s true that he defeated Thomas accidentally by luck but now that I think really hard about it, Thomas was the one really lucky to leave the duel with only a cut on his forehead because that time Raven did not even show some sort of anger but today is different. If they do have a duel today, I think Thomas might not be as lucky as he did last time.] Kate thought as she bit her nails. [This is making me uncomfortable.]

“Do you feel the chill in the air right after that guy looked angry? If he can release this much aura I bet he can go toe to toe with one of the strongest in the academy.” A demi-human said while warming her hands.

“So you felt it as well? It’s crazy how a human can release such aura.” Another one said.

The demi-humans started to talk to each other after Raven let out his aura. Little did they know that it is just a fragment of what he is holding back.

The scene is progressing in a bad way when Raven felt a strong aura coming to their location.

[This presence.] he thought as his head move towards the direction of the mana.

“I can beat you with my eyes closed, last time you got lucky but this time your luck runs out. A poor commoner like you cannot equal us with our wealthy backgrounds.” Thomas said proudly as he smiled.

The students in front of Thomas had their eyes widened when a person behind him appeared.

“Is that so? What a bold statement that is.” The man behind him said in a cold tone that sent chills throughout Thomas’ body.

[Elf] Raven thought as he finally saw where the strong mana came from.
