First day at the academy Part 2

Everyone around Thomas almost literally turned to stone when they saw the man behind Thomas where the voice come from, a tall figure and pointy ears with a stone cold expression in his face. An elf, the most powerful of all the demi-human races.

Thomas can feel his cold stare at his back that he didn’t want to turn around to see who it is but he can tell that whoever he might be, he is not someone who Thomas can joke around.

“Why have you gone stiff all of the sudden? I thought you were going to beat him in a duel but from what I can see. You are not even worth his time let alone be on his line of sight.” He said in a cold tone as his gold eyes glance at Raven.

[Unbelievable, I heard from Aranx that the elves are the strongest form of demi-humans but to freely release your mana aura in such a crowded place is so much of an overkill.] Raven thought as he shakes his head after meeting the elf’s eyes.

The guards recognize the young elf that appeared behind Thomas, it is Kai, from the Elven royal family of Lenus.

[What the f**k happened? How an elf did got involved with that guy? I didn’t know any of this! F**K!] he thought as his sweat started to pour down like a stream from his face. [This pressure, I might piss myself.

Raven saw Thomas’ shaking feet and look at the elf, to his surprise was smiling at him without avoiding Raven’s gaze.

“Good day senior, but I think you have to stop leaking out some pretty serious mana aura because you are making the people around us uncomfortable.” Raven said with a smile as he scratch his head.

[How can he act so casual when we are struggling to even gasp some air?!]

All around them thought in sync after seeing Raven moving and acting so causally in front of an elf nonetheless.

[This bastard! Why is he unaffected?!] Thomas thought as he was about to burst in anger after seeing how Raven reacted.

Then he felt the cold aura closing in on him.

“I know what you’re thinking, what you are seeing right now is the unimaginable distance between you and him, so if I were you I’d f**k off and do whatever is right before I’d get a free ticket to hell” Kai whispered in a harsh cold voice in Thomas’ left ear.

His mouth started clattering and his heart is about to burst out of his chest right after he felt the pressure creeping on him again.

[He told me to get lost but how will I be able to move a s**t if my strength decided to abandon my body?!] he thought as he struggles a lot just by forcing his legs to move a step away from the elf behind him.

*Pant* *Pant* *Pant*

[Come on legs move! Don’t fail me now!] he cried internally while panting really hard.

Kai glanced at Thomas’ friends which startled them and gave them a signal to take their miserable friend from his line of sight. They immediately nodded and sprinted towards Thomas who did not have the chance to mutter a single word after getting carried far away from the entrance in an instant.

The guards were speechless about what happened as well as the other demi-humans.

[Did he have a connection with the elves? That can’t be, we never saw him interact with one.]

Kate thought as she saw Thomas get carried away from the scene with their friends.

“Wo-ah, I didn’t think he would have an elf backing him up, and it had to be kai Lenus of all people!” he friend said while covering her mouth.

Kai controlled his mana aura returning the state of the atmosphere to what is was before.

“Thank you for stepping up young master Lenus.” One of the guards said as he bowed down.

“It was nothing. It’s just that they are making quite a scene early in the morning.” He said as he shake his hand.

After suppressing his strong mana aura, everything went back to normal and the students started to disperse since there is nothing more to see when an elf of noble blood such as himself appeared to break the moment.

“Let’s go. There is nothing much to see anymore.”

The students quickly dispersed and walk faster than they normally do just to get away from the elf with a strong mana aura.

[Seems like there are persons here that stands above others and it looks like he is one such person.] Raven thought as Kai walk towards him. “What can I do for you senior?” he ask in a gentle manner.

Kai never said a thing and just handed Raven something covered with a cloth. Raven is confused as to what did Kai gave him so he opened the cloth and to his surprise he sees the broken sword that he used to defeat Thomas during their duel. And when he look at the elf to get some explanation but the elf is already far away from him.

[How did he get this? Did he took it after I threw it away after the duel?] Raven thought as he put the sword away inside his bag.

“We are very sorry for the trouble young man. For such a thing to happen right on your first day-“the guard apologized while shaking his head.

“It is okay. Nothing really bad happened so I guess it is alright.” He said as he smiled. “Then I will be on my way. Thank you very much!” he added.

Raven continued to walk after being held at the entrance for some time due to Thomas’ scheme.

[That human manage to act normally when I have released my mana aura like there is nothing to begin with. Interesting!] he said as he smiled while walking the hall way. [What was her room number again? I really am bad at remembering things that just happened only recently, she’s going to be mad at me for sure.] he ask himself as he glance around inside the rooms.

“Room 4, where is it –ah! Found you.” Raven told himself as his eyes glimmer in happiness.

When he entered the room there were already students that are sitting on their chairs waiting for the class to start.

Some of them were surprised to see someone new in their classroom.

“Is he new here? It’s my first time seeing that kind of hair color.”

“He stood out like a sore thumb.”

They talk to themselves as Raven walk towards the back.

“Hey, isn’t he the guy from the entrance? Why is he here?”

“Yeah, I remember him now. Who would have thought that he will have the same class as us?”

Some remember him getting involved with Thomas at the small incident at the entrance.

[Ugh, I remember some of their faces from the entrance. Their stares are rubbing off of my skin.] he thought as he takes a sit at the chair further at the back.

*sigh*

[This sucks, something bad happened on my very first day at the academy and it looks like the other students might distance themselves from me because of that. So much for making new friends, I might even spend my days here at the academy alone.] he thought as he sat down with a sad face slowly closing his eyes.

*step* *step* *step* *step*

He can hear a loud pair of shoes coming towards him.

[Who it might? Maybe I took someone’s chair?] he thought as he opened his eyes and turned around.

[Huh?] his eyes widen as he saw a female elf but what surprise him more is that he didn’t even notice her mana aura.

[That’s strange, I should have noticed her mana aura but even after seeing her I could not feel anything. Wait, her face looks familiar.] he thought as he stare at the female elf who is staring right back at him.

“Are you a new student here?” she asked in a meek voice.

“Ye-s.” he stutter as he answered.

[It’s my first time actually talking to a female student my age. I finally did it! I broke through the barrier!] he thought as he smiled internally.

(Just answering “yes” is not actually considered a conversation though.)

“There she goes again. That b***h is at it again.”

“Look at her trying to make friends with everyone she meets.”

The other students from the opposite set of chairs softly whispered to each other. Raven heard their whispers to each other then he tilted his head to see whoever said that to the first female he had engage in a conversation in his whole life.

(Again not a conversation.)

He saw some humans staring daggers at her but when they saw Raven looking at them they immediately averted their gaze to the opposite direction. The female elf is a little puzzled when he tilted his head so she glanced at the direction where his eyes are directed and saw the group of humans sitting on their chair.

[Oh.] she thought as she might have a vague idea why he titled his head.

“Just because she is beautiful she can do whatever she wants and flirt with everyone she meets for the first time.”

“She might not be blessed with the strong mana aura like her brother have but she does have the beauty to compensate for it. Wealthy nobles like her ends up becoming wallets for their fake friends.” Another one whispered to the others while not looking at them directly.

[Strong mana aura like her brother?] Raven thought after hearing what the other student whispered.

“By the way, do you have anyone you know around here? I can show you around the academy if you want.” She said in a meek tone with a soft smile.

Raven stood up and reach out hand. “I am Raven Oston. Can I take you on that offer?” he said as he smiled back.

The female elf smiled back.

[Where could her room be? I did not found her in the other rooms so it must be the rooms in this side right?] he told himself as he whistles while walking around the rooms.

*Whistle* *Whistle*

“Not here. Not here either. Nope. Nope.” He said as he check every room he passed by. “This is the last room. Bingo there she is- Cassiopeia!” he said aloud. “……………. Lenus” she said in a meek voice. “Huh? Big brother?” she exclaimed.

[No wonder she looks familiar, so she is the little sister of the elf earlier?] he told himself as he turns his head to Kai.

Kai both of them shaking hands. After seeing his brother caught a glance of them shaking hands, she immediately retrieve her hands and blush.

“I see you have made a friend.” Kai said with a smirk in his face.

[I don’t like this guy, he reeks of trouble.] Raven told himself as he also retrieve his hand.

“What are you doing here big brother?” she said as she walk towards him. “You said you want me to know where your room is so that I can fetch you after classes are over.” He explained.

“I see that you have made friends with that guy huh?” he added.

“Thank you for your help earlier, it would not have ended peacefully if you have not intervened. I am Raven Oston.” Raven said as he bow his head and offered his hand.

“No, no, no. like I said its fine. I am kai Lenus.” He said as he shook his hand while smiling. “Huh? So you meant that he is the one you said you would look for?” she said in a suspicious tone while staring at his big brother.

“Yes, I have to return something that belongs to him that I picked up the other day.” He said.

“So she is your little sister, I had feeling that I might have seen her face before. I wouldn’t have thought that she is your little sister.” Raven said while smiling.

“I take that as a good thing. Can you look out for my sister when I am not around? She tends to get bullied whenever I’m not around.” He said as his ice cold gaze scan the room.

His gaze made most of the students uncomfortable that spelled truth to his guess.

[The students here knows that my sister is being bullied and this time made it sure of my guess. I hope with this man around her, she can enjoy her time at the academy.] he thought as he look at everyone in the room.

[This guy looks uncomfortable, something is bothering his mind. Does it have to do something about his sister getting bullied? If that’s the case then I have to oblige, I cannot let anyone bully the person who spoke to me.] Raven thought as he nodded his head.

“I will. Since we are going to be around each other in the class, I suppose it would not be bad to have her a company.” Raven said with a smile.

“Thanks.” Kai bowed his head to show his gratitude towards Raven who have not only meet him once but also agreed to keep an eye on his younger sister.

“I told you that kind of thing does not happen to me.” She insisted.

“We’ll see about that. Then I will be on my way. Thanks again Raven.” He said in a soft tone then left.

[I can already feel something in the atmosphere, something that I felt when I was bullied. Isolation.] he said as his eyes glow in bright purple color.

*step* *step* *step*

*Hahahahaha*

Raven can hear a rowdy group of students coming inside the room.

“I will get back at Kai for humiliating me earlier.”

A familiar voice rung in Raven’s ear, it was Thomas’. His group as well as Kate’s group entered the room as their eyes met with Raven.

[I hate bullies.]
