Duel Part I

[Yesterday is very eventful, so many things happened that I am very new to, my very first firsts. I hope they enjoyed the tea that I sent with them home. To think that there are people who were waiting for the bearer of the seal of the future to appear is very surprising. I thought people would devote themselves more in wealth and power and here they are devoting themselves to be of some use for the bearer in the future.] Raven thought as he treads towards the academy. [And that young man earlier, he is one of Kris’ friends huh? To challenge Nyx in a duel in the arena today. They might have prepared everything beforehand, maybe a holy sword or so, since he is a holy sword holder and he bragged about his strength multiplied because of his holy sword. It is not surprising if he swings one in the arena later.] he added.

“Are you sure you told that guy Raven that I will duel Nyx today?” Kris said in an angry voice.

*CRUNCH!* *CRUNCH!* *CRUNCH!* *CRUNCH!* *CRUNCH!* *CRUNCH!* *CRUNCH!*

“Yes, I went in that alley early than I wake up every day so be sure to kick that f****r’s ass later.” He said as he bit on an apple.

“Don’t worry, I’m going to show that bastard not to mess with me.” he said in an angry tone. “What did you tell him earlier?” he asked while flashing an evil smile.

The young man tilted his head as he tries to remember what he said exactly. “Hmmm, let’s see.” He said in uninterested tone.

[Half an hour earlier]

“Are you Raven Oston?” the students asked.

They started surrounding Raven the moment the others recognizes his face and unique hair color.

“That’s him alright.”

“Yup, he was with Nyx yesterday.”

The others whispered to the ones who does not know.

“I am Raven Oston, what can I do for you?” he asked in a polite tone.

“Good, we waited for you to deliver this message to Nyx Arcan ‘I am challenging you to a duel. You can use a weapon of your choice, be sure to come at the arena after lunch. Don’t worry about anything, I have already taken care of the arena. There is no need to worry about the venue.’ Is what he said.”

[This guy looks a little intimidating, is he confident in his abilities after blocking only a single attack from Kris? But Kris is not an easy opponent that you can just defend from his attacks if you are able to do so then you are talented since not everyone can block that man’s raw strength.] the guy thought as he stare at Raven with scanning eyes.

The others are taking a step back away from Raven since they still remembered what happened yesterday pretty clearly.

“I still get goosebumps just by remembering what happened yesterday.” One of them whispered to his ears with a shaky voice.

“Me too, just by being around him makes me really uncomfortable.” Another one added as he whispered back.

“You guys chickening out with just this single guy? I wasn’t there when it happened in the test grounds but I wouldn’t act cowardly like you guys do today.” He said as he mock the others in front of Raven.

“You can say that because you have not experienced it personally.” One of them said in angry voice.

[I thought that there is a rumor that my mana aura’s pressure was a fluke. I’m glad that I don’t have to come up with an excuse every time the others ask me about it. But I feel a little weird, I should be happy that that rumor is deliberately helping me look like a normal student.] Raven thought as he stare at the young man staring at him.

[He is staring at me intensely from the start now, is he that that curious at what happened yesterday? “I will be sure to relay that message. Is there else I can help you with?” Raven said while glancing at every one’s faces.

[Woops, I may have needlessly stare at him without any reason.] he thought as he shakes his head. “There is nothing anymore, thank you very much and sorry for disturbing you on your way to the academy.” He said with an awkward smile.

“Don’t worry about it, I shall take my leave first.”

Raven said as the students make way for him to pass.

[Back to present time]

“Is that all?” Kris asked impatiently.

The other guys looked at him with an annoyed face.

“You want me to say anything that is not included from your orders?” he said with a nerve bulging in his forehead.

With what the other student said, Kris returns back to his senses.

“Sorry, I was just swept by my emotions. Father learned of what happened and he taught me a lesson to what happens when anyone from our family shames the Reynolds family.” Kris said as he grips his shoulder in pain.

“Are you sure you can handle Nyx later with that beat up body of yours?” the other student asked.

He instantly turns his head to the opposite direction after feeling Kris’ piercing gaze.

“Don’t you believe my abilities? Did you forget that I have a holy sword in my hands while that bastard doesn’t holds any s**t?” he said in an arrogant voice as he caress the sword beside him.

“I still can’t believe that you are carrying the holy sword Durandal, the Berserker’s great sword. No matter how many time I see that sword. It looks really stunning! I bet it’s heavy as hell.” One of his friends said to break the ice.

[Back to Raven]

“Good morning, guards.” Raven said with a smile as he waves his hand.

The guards responded to his greeting in the same way he did.

“Good morning as well, young man.” The guard said in a jolly voice.

“By the way, the young man from the Arcan family has been waiting for your arrival.” The other guards said as he pointed inside the building.

“Nyx? Thank you for telling me” he said as he bowed his head.

He bowed a few times before leaving the entrance and went straight to the building where the guard pointed.

“It’s good to see a young fellow without any shed of arrogance in a while huh?” the guard sigh in relief.

“I know right? Most of the students here are either arrogant or full of themselves. At the very least there is someone who smiles at us, oh – forgot about the elven siblings. They do greet us too right?” he clicked his tongue as he remembered.

*Tsk*

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot about them as well. Haha, silly me.” the other one scratch his head.

*Step* *Step* *Step*

[There are quite a few mana auras inside this building, one is similar to Nyx and there is someone new.]

Raven was walking towards building when the door opens immediately after he walks near the door.

*Creak!*

*Opens door*

“Good morning my lord.”

Mars greeted him with a bow. “The young master is expecting you.” He added.

*Step**Step**Step**Step**Step**Step**Step*

“I am very sorry for not being able to greet you, my lo- Raven. It’s because there is a person insisting that he wants to meet you as well.” Nyx explained with sweat breaking off from his forehead.

A young man with a cover in the half of his lower face, from his nose down to his face walk towards Raven and kneel down the instant he saw Raven.

“Greetings bearer of the seal of the future. I am Caisein Eran, the successor of the Eran family.” He said in a manly tone.
