CHAPTER 1 — The Day I Was Humiliated
“Crash!”
The glass shattered right in front of my feet. Sharp fragments scattered across the floor—just like my pride.
“I regret marrying you.”
Her voice was cold. No hesitation. No emotion.
I slowly raised my head.
My wife stood there, looking at me like I was something dirty.
“You know,” she continued, crossing her arms, “I used to have a man who was far better than you.”
My chest tightened.
Her ex.
Of course.
The man she never stopped talking about.
“He was rich. Capable. A real man,” she said with a mocking smile. “Not like you.”
My fists clenched.
But I said nothing.
Because I had no right to argue.
“You’re not even a man,” she said softly. “You’re just a failure.”
That word…
It hit harder than anything.
“I was gone for only three months,” she continued, her voice rising, “and you managed to lose everything! All our savings… all our assets… wasted on your stupid trading!”
“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean—”
“Shut up!”
She pointed at me, her eyes full of disgust.
“I’m tired of your excuses! Do you think saying sorry will fix anything?”
Tears gathered in her eyes, but she forced them back.
“I left this house hoping you would become better,” she said quietly. “But you only proved how worthless you really are.”
I lowered my head.
Because she was right.
I destroyed everything.
“I’m leaving,” she said.
My heart trembled.
“And this time… it’s forever.”
I looked at her, but she didn’t look back.
“Remember this,” she added coldly. “If I ever see you again, I’ll pretend I never knew a man like you.”
A failure.
She turned—
And walked away.
Without hesitation.
Without regret.
Leaving me behind… with nothing.
A few days later, the divorce papers arrived.
Short.
Cold.
Just like our marriage.
I sat alone in the empty house.
Everything was gone.
Money.
Assets.
Love.
Even my dignity.
A dry laugh escaped my lips.
“I really am… trash.”
Three days later.
I sat on a bench in a small park on the edge of Manila.
In my pocket—
Only $5.
My last money.
Pathetic.
I once dreamed of becoming rich.
Now I couldn’t even afford a proper meal.
“If only I could go back…”
“…Mister?”
I opened my eyes.
A little boy stood in front of me.
“I’m hungry…”
I looked at the $5 in my hand.
My last money.
Then—
I gave it to him.
“Take it.”
“There’s an old man selling flowers,” the boy said, pointing down the road.
“Go meet him. Your life will change.”
At the end of the road—
An old man sat beside a small flower stall.
Colorful flowers.
A calm smile.
Too calm.
Like he had been waiting.
I stepped onto the road.
One step.
Two—
A horn blared.
A truck rushed toward me.
Too fast.
Too close.
“Braaak!!!”
Darkness.
Then—
A voice.

[Rewinding time…]
“Thud!”
I fell from my bed.
Gasping.
Sweating.
I grabbed my phone.

I smiled.
Cold.
Sharp.
“This time…”
“I won’t be poor again.”
“I will rise…”
“…from nothing to absolute power.”
