PROLOGUEMy back hits the wall before I even realize Kane has cornered me.His hand wraps gently around my waist, pulling me close enough that I can feel the warmth radiating from his body."So..." he murmurs, a lazy smirk tugging at his lips. "What exactly do you want?"I glare up at him."I wasn't asking for anything.""No?" His eyebrows lift. "Then why have you been staring at my lips for the last five minutes?""I was not!""Liar.""I was trying to figure out why they're so annoyingly smug."A chuckle escapes him."That's not what your eyes were saying."I hate that stupid grin.I hate how calm he looks.I hate how every time he gets this close, my heart completely ignores my brain."Move," I mutter."Make me."I roll my eyes."You've become unbelievably full of yourself.""I wasn't like this before?""You were worse.""And yet..." He leans in just enough for his breath to brush against my face. "...you're still standing here."I swallow."You're impossible.""So I've been told."His gaze drops to my lips."So..." he whispers. "Do you want that kiss or not?"Heat rushes to my cheeks."I'd rather kiss a wall.""Hm."He pretends to think."A shame."He starts pulling away.Almost without thinking, my fingers grab the front of his shirt.Kane freezes. Those piercing gray eyes slowly meet mine. Then, a satisfied smirk spreads across his face."I thought you hated me."I quickly look away."I still do," I snap."Really?""Yes.""Then why are you stopping me from leaving?"Silence. His grin only grows wider."Cute."My glare returns instantly."Don't flatter yourself.""Oh, kitten..."He gently brushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear."...you're the one making this very difficult."Right, Because before I ever wanted his kiss...I wanted to kill him.

Episode 1
DAPHNE “What the f**k do you mean I’m getting married to that s**t face?” I ask at the top of my voice, staring between my parents like they have suddenly grown two heads. “You are not getting married to that ‘s**t face.’ You’re getting married to Kane Ambrose,” my dad corrects me like that is supposed to make me feel any better. “Typically, a s**t face is even better. You must be joking,” I scoff. “Language, Daphne…” “What you’re telling me doesn’t make sense! How am I supposed to get married to someone I don’t even get along with? He probably hates me…” “You hate him doesn’t mean he hates you…” “Mom! You don’t even know him like I do. Kane is not a good person the way you think he is. He’s a f*****g psychopath. And besides, I’m still in school for God’s sake. I’m in my final year of university and marriage is definitely not on my list right now.” “Preparation will start soon, Daphne. Getting married doesn’t mean your school won’t continue. Find a way to resolve any problems you might have with him and everything will be fine.” Speechlessly, I turn around and storm out of the house. It is not like they are ever going to listen anyway. My opinion has never mattered. It is all about the family business, the company. Even now, this stupid marriage is so the family business can move forward. They don’t care about my feelings. They don’t care enough to know that Kane and I will never get along. Never. It has been fifteen years since the first time I set my eyes on him. I was five at that time and I might have thought he was a good person. Or maybe he was a good, innocent boy at that time. Our parents have always been close so we literally see each other almost every day. He was only four years older than me and I thought I have finally got a friend or maybe the brother I have always wanted, but as we grew up, Kane gets more and more annoying. He started making stupid friends and even joindd them to make fun of me for being too flat-chested according to them. I hate those times, but I know I want to kill him each time he grins mockingly to my face about every stupid thing. It is even crazier because he never seems bothered. No matter how much I yell at him and told him to stop, he never did. We ended up in the same high school and he continued. He let the whole “hottest boy in school” title get into his head. He was always around girls, always partying, a complete irresponsible teenager. I only got free from him when he finishes high school. Since he was a senior, he has to travel out of the country. It felt so nice finally not breathing the same air as Kane Ambrose. I thought I was free from him. I thought I will not have to face his stupid face again. And now he is back in my space. He arrived about three days ago, I think, and not just back… he is going to be my husband. I gag loudly as I gulp down the vodka and it burns like hell. This is not going to solve my problem, but at least for tonight I can forget about it before thinking of what to do to get out of this situation. I groan and run my nails through my hair as I consume another glass. I don’t even notice someone already sitting on the chair next to me until I raise my head again. Only to find the last person I want to set my eyes on right now, grinning wildly at me. That same stupid, mocking grin he has always had while staring at me when we were kids and teenagers. I can’t believe he is still the same. “Is that you, kitten?” His eyes flash. “Call me that again and I will drown you,” I snap. That only seems to impress him. Of course he is a psycho who actually finds so much pleasure in making me angry. “You’re still the same, always threatening and never having the guts to do it. Boring,” he chuckles, sipping from his wine. “Are you desperate??” I snap back and he glances over at me. “What’s there about you to be desperate about? You’re a 4 by the way,” he grins. “I will believe you if you end that stupid engagement I just heard about,” I glare. “Are we engaged?” He raises his brows like I am the crazy one. I frown. “You don’t know??” I ask. “Probably because it’s irrelevant to me. I don’t know why you’re worked up about it. Don’t tell me you’re nervous,” he laughs. “Your wish. I just don’t ever want to breathe next to you. So let’s find a way to convince our parents against the marriage,” I tell him, with pleading eyes, hoping for a positive response at least even though I know he doesn’t have any empathy like a normal human. “Convince them by yourself. I don’t give a f**k enough to waste my time,” he scoffs and stands up. “Maybe you like me secretly? Because it feels like you want to get married to me badly,” I snap, glaring at his back before he turns around with obvious anger on his face. But I don’t care. Whatever can make this marriage get canceled, I am ready for it. “Like you??” he asks, looking at me as if checking to see if I am worth it. Just like he has always looked down on me. Bastard. I can never get married to him… “To be precise, kitten, your parents brought this s**t up first. Maybe they are the ones desperate to have me as their son-in-law?” He grins, a dry one that turns into a frown right away. I feel my throat dry up. My parents?? “Do whatever you can to stop this craziness. I’m not interested one bit. Don’t think so highly of yourself,” he blurts out lastly before walking away and returning to his friends. I sit there speechlessly and totally ashamed. What? My parents?? This better not be true. I immediately pay for what I got and storm out of the bar.
