“That must be a really awful phase for you to have gone through at that age” Deli looked at me from across the table we sat at the diner.
Deli has been a strong firm and a rock that supported me since I left my old pack to settle here. He took me in when I left Cranil pack, I confided in him, but the funniest thing was that he never judged my actions.
“I'd like to see that as the past now, Deli, I am something big, they just missed out on me” I said with partial disappointment and fulfillment, sadly.
“You wanna know the funny thing?”
“What was that?”
Another thing I liked about Deli, was the fact that he always wanted to listen to me, he never got tired of me one day and I feel that's why we shared this bond I never knew how to explain, right from the day we met.
I dropped the rag I was using to clean the counter. It was evening and there were barely any customers in the shop at that time.
“The realization of being fated to your enemy” “I'm way past all of that now, but one part of me can't let the embarrassment I had that day go”
“How bad was it?”
“You really want to know?” I asked him that just to add a little drama to the whole story.
“Well, I wouldn't ask if I didn't”
********"
The pack's square was filled with people from every corner of the pack and finding my way around without being noticed was almost an impossible hurdle to climb.
Lisa was already there and finally someone I could talk to and I ran to her in so much excitement.
She noticed some of the bruises on my body.
“Lisa, what's this on your body?”
“It's nothing, Lisa. I fell down the stairs”
“Omg are you ok?”
I did not reply to her question, because I know she may be too dramatic or a bit crazy.
I saw that there were two sections, the other one was where the Alphas and Betas gathered.
When it was time to announce we'd all come together.
“Alright let us get this party started, introducing the son of the Alpha the birthday boy, Damian” I heard a voice coming from the venue.
The look on everybody's face was so readable the girls were in love and the boys wished he was their friend.
Though he was handsome I could not see why they thought he was very special.
“Who let the dog out of the cage again?,” Eve snorted at me. “To avoid embarrassment stay away from me, Damian and maybe my brother got it”. Eve then walked away with a boy.
“Why do you let her treat and talk to you like that sometimes you know you need to stand your ground, right?” Lisa said to me , and to think it was as easy as she said it.
“I am learning that this life is not for me to please anyone, even Eve, so I just don't let her words get to my head,” I defended myself.
“I want to go get some punch, you want one?” Lisa asked me as she looked at me with disappointment .
“It is an honor to be celebrated by all of you , and you all are probably waiting for me to announce my mate , but it is coming very soon, not yet but hopefully today.”
I could see all the excitement on their faces, especially the girls .
Lisa returned with my punch and it was time for them to announce the mate of their breathtaking heir.
“Why are you at my party?”
“I'm here for the full moon celebration, not your party”
“Well you should leave” Damian held my hand and was almost throwing me out of the party when I felt a rush of heat.
Damian also paused for a moment and gazed at me.
I believe he also felt the heat, because I felt it too.
“Is Annie, Damian's mate?” People around started to whisper.
“You can never be my mate, I cannot accept an Omega without a wolf to be my mate.”
Everybody gathered and watched Damian deny me. They all laughed and I had to run from the scene.
Lisa's dad worked with the bus service and she gets free rides to wherever she's going within or outside the pack and it was easier for me to convince her.
“Lisa, can you help me with something,”
“Annie, how are you?Are you ok?What do you feel like today?”
Lisa was always worried about me and I appreciated it, but sometimes it got too much.
“I'm fine Lisa, I need you to do something for me” “I need a ticket to the neighboring pack”
“What for?,”
“I'll explain later”
“Are you trying to run away?”
“I'll be back as soon as possible, I just need to escape this embarrassment for a few days”
“You promise to come back soon?”
“Yes Lisa, if I get the chance to”
“Come here early tomorrow morning, a bus is moving”
I packed my bags and left home that night. I slept at the park and the next morning I left in hopes of returning back when I am ready.
The morning was very cold and the venue was completely empty at that point and I knew since I started the plan I would have to finish it.
“Annie, over here, are you okay” to my surprise it was Lisa that had come to see if I was okay.
“I am so glad you are the one here” I said and gave her a very big hug
She picked me up and put me in a truck she told me was leading directly out of town.
“Thank you so much you are a lifesaver” she gave me another bag filled with food and the truck started its engines and we were on the move.
A sharp pain came on the side of my neck down to my back. It came so sharp that I had to let out a cry. It stopped after some minutes.
“Here is your stop” the truck driver said to me, I got down and the whole place was strange.
Though I finally found a light in a bar that said pack house on it .
I picked up my bags and went in, no one was in the store, only a man standing at the counter.
“We are closed, come back tomorrow” I looked at him in confusion.
“But we are still in the morning, how come you are already closed”
“Well, aren't you Annie from Damian's birthday yesterday?” he said, coming closer to me .
“I am and who are you” I asked him
“I am Deli,” I stood there and looked at him in amazement.
“So how did you get here and why are you here?" he asked like it was an interview.
I did not say anything but rather I asked if he had a place that I could stay until I got myself.
He offered me a little cabin that was covered with pictures of the moon and the sky.
“This is really a nice cabin, but why is it covered with the sky and the milky way?"
“Well, I had always loved astrology, but what if I go on a mission to space and it was a full moon"
“That would be a disaster" I said and laughed gently.
He left me there and he also told me to get ready to work, in order for the both of us to survive.
I told Deli everything that had happened to me.
I sighed really heavily, and the peace and quiet that came with it was divine; no more Eve, no more Damian.
The next morning, I was excited about the work and I could not wait to start.
“Table four needs an order of margaritas and table six, cocktails” I said with joy and willingness to work.
“Alright, copy that”. That was always Deli's reply.
Two weeks passed and I was living a peaceful life, That was until I got really sick.
The doctors did not know what was wrong with me and they never really found any particular sickness.
“What could be possibly wrong” I would ask myself, more doctors came and went and I was still not found ill of any sickness.
It got really worse and everytime this happens my neck would always shine with a strange mark.
