Chapter 3

“Why did you watch them hurt me this way, Evan?” Annie cried out in pains as Evan wiped the bloodstains on her body, that revealed bruises and marks “I thought you liked me?” “Look, Annie, I do, but he's the Alpha's son, he gets what he wants, our friendship is beneficial and I don't think I want to loose it,” “So you'd like for me to get tortured this way?” Annie quivered in pain when Evan wiped a part of her arm. “I don't like seeing you this way Annie, I promise, but going against the Alpha's son is like inviting trouble to your doorstep and I don't want that for the family” “Can you do something to stop it?” “I'll ask Damian to stop mocking you, I'll try my best to put an end to it” “Thank you Evan” Annie said and went in for a hug. “Ow, ow, ow,” she remembered she had bruises. “Sorry, sorry” Evan blew air into the bruise. “You'll be fine, you'll be fine” “I'm home” Loretta yelled and closed the front door. Annie quickly stood up and ran into the room to go get covered up. The last thing she wanted was add more drama to Loretta's life. “Hey mum,” Evan also cleaned the iodine stain on his hands and headed towards the door, “woah, woah, what do we have here?” “Will you stand there asking questions or help me out, Evan?” “Is Annie and Eve home?” She asked and struggled with the load in her hands. Evan took one from her “Annie should be upstairs in her room, probably asleep, Eve had cheerleading practice and isn't back from school” “There shouldn't be anything going on after school today. It's the full moon today and rumor has it, the blood moon might appear today, some say it's too early and others pray it comes so they have another chance of seeing it” “Eve should be home, we need to prepare for the celebration” “And we shouldn't forget, it's also Damian's birthday,” Evan pointed out. “What's this blood moon?” “Yes, we shouldn't, how's he by the way?” Loretta asked “Damian’s fine,” That was all that escaped Evan's mouth after what he watched Damian do to Annie. “Your father and his father have been working their heads off for a successful full moon celebration, rumors about the chances of a blood moon puts them in even much worse pressure,” she placed the bag down. “Being the Beta is as much work as being the Alpha don't you think” she placed her both hands on the counter and was looking really stressed. “What's this blood moon mum?,” Evan asked again. Annie crawled to the staircase and was listening to their conversation all along. ‘Today's Damian's birthday?’ she thought to herself. Not like she really cared, he was her worst enemy. “The blood moon is very rare and they say it comes to crown the Alpha of all Alphas, it's usually believed as a myth but people seem to take it really seriously.” Loretta explained. “I believe it's a myth,” Evan said ignorantly. A loud thud came from the stairway. Annie was in the floor. “My goodness, Annie,” Loretta rushed toward a the door and held Annie up. “You're bleeding, Evan bring a rag over there.” “Mum, I'm home!” Eve rushed in and slammed the door. She saw her my holding Annie in her arms. “What’s this impostor of a thing acting up again?” Eve asked in disgust. “Eve, you really don't want to do this now,” Loretta tried to make her understand. “Of course, you'll always take her side, never mine, you'll never take my side” “Eve, Annie just fell down the stairs, do you expect me to just leave her here” “You're my mum, you should welcome me and atleast ask how school was” Eve snapped back. “And leave Annie here to hurt?” Eve's eyes started to turn red and her fangs were already shooting out, hair started to cover her body and it was like her wolf was about to come out. “Eve!” Loretta exclaimed in a loud voice. “Don't do that!” “Argh!!” Eve exclaimed in anger and marched up the stairs. “How was school?” Loretta yelled after her. “Just let me be,” Eve said and slammed the door shut. The sound shook the whole house. “Classic Eve” Evan stretched out the rag to give his mum. “You don't have to mind Eve, I'll take care of her” she gently spoke into Annie's ears. She got cleaned and Evan carried her to her room. “You faked that fall didn't you?,” Evan asked. “You got me, I had to do something, there's no way I can keep hiding the bruise from mum, she'd find out either way, her wolf senses and very sensitive” “Yh, that's true, I hope you didn't break any bones” Evan asked. “No, I don't think I did, but these bruises hurt so much, does Eve hate me so much her wolf almost attacked me?” “They better be fine, I'm sorry for the way Eve acted and the way she acts generally, you don't have to mind whatever she says or do.” “I'm already used to Eve and I totally understand why she acts the way she does, hopefully one day she won't see me as a threat to her or your family, but she almost attacking me with her wolf today made me scared” “I will protect you as a brother, Annie” “Thank you, Evan” “Hey, we're heading for the full moon celebration at the pack square.” Evan told Annie, in a bid to raise her spirit. “Yh, I heard.” “You heard me and mum?” “Yes, I did,” “I see, that means you heard about the blood moon too?, What do you think?” Evan wanted her opinion on it. “To me I believe it could be true, if the top Betas are anticipating it, then it should, I believe it should be” “I'll leave all of you to your delusions, I won't be in there, when you all get disappointed.” He chuckled. “Go get ready, it's your friend's birthday too, I hope he breaks his ankle or his entire leg falls off” Evan smiled, “I hope so too, you could be really sinister sometimes, I usually think that's why you don't have your wolf yet, you're a bad little girl” “Ha, ha, very funny Evan, just leave” Annie laughed. All Annie's strength was in opposition to her attending the celebration, but she didn't want to be left out in any way. If she really wanted to be seen as part of the pack, she needed to act like she's one of them.
