STELLA
I found myself in his suite, clothes being taken off with such urgency I had never experienced in my life. His lips were back on mine as soon as I got naked. My fingers hooked underneath the hem of his shirt, pulling it off as my back hit the wall.
He let out a deep groan that sent rumbles down my body and made my p***y throb. I was helpless against this hot stranger whose body was on mine like he had been waiting for this moment his whole life.
He cupped my face and grinned devilishly, and damn, it sent chills down my spine. Pleasant chills.
"I am going to f**k the heartbreak out of you," He whispered against my ears. "You're immediately going to forget about him by the time I am done with you."
All I could do was let out a soft whimper of need. I was helpless against his strong hold, held captive by those mesmerising grey eyes of his. I looked up at him, and bit my lower lips.
"Then make me forget." I whispered against his lips, my jaw trembling as the memories of another woman in the room with Corey came rushing back.
He held my face and stared into my eyes. "Know what? f**k him."
I was lifted off the ground like I weighed nothing. My legs instinctively wrapped around his waist my fingers dug into his hair as he continued to kiss me. He tasted like mint and exotic wine, like seduction and sin. And he was pulling me right in. He was making me feel things I'd never felt before.
He peppered kisses down my naked body, like he was worshipping me. He inhaled deeply and talked about how nice my skin felt and how he could spend the whole night doing this.
This was something I had never gotten from Corey. Something I had never been told.
And I felt like a woman.
When he gently placed me on the bed and ate me out, I shed tears of intense pleasure, barely able to hold back my moans. When he laid me on the plush carpet in his suite and f****d me till I saw stars, I knew there had been more waiting for me outside.
Corey wasn't everything to me as much as I thought.
I fell asleep in this stranger's arms, feeling nothing but pure bliss and satisfaction.
The next morning, I woke up confused. I was in a room that didn't look anything like the one I had rented with Corey.
Corey.
As the name came to mind, a painful twist in my chest had me doubling over and soon enough, I remembered everything that had happened last night.
My eyes brimmed with unshed tears but there were more issues at hand to be worried about than that.
For starters, there was a strange man laying in bed beside me. And he was stark naked. His face was turned to the other side so all I could see was a shock of full, dark hair and the most muscular back I'd ever set eyes on.
And when I realised I didn't even know his name or anything about him, I let out a squeal.
"Oh, s**t!" I cried out.
He slowly started to move and this was when I knew it was the best time to escape. Just as my foot hit the floor, he caught my arm and yanked me back so hard I crashed into his chest.
He held me in place, his breath got against my cheek as he spoke. "Running off so fast?"
I shut my eyes and blew out a shaky breath before I turned to look at him for the first time since our drunken encounter.
I was first hit by the clearest pair of grey eyes I'd ever seen. It raised goosebumps on my skin. And those lips of his, it looked like it was made for kissing.
But that didn't mean I should have easily made my way into his bed. It was such a stupid move.
"Uhm, is there a reason why I should be here?" I scoffed, glancing around.
He shrugged. "You're here already."
I sighed. "I'm sorry about last night. I didn't mean to dump anything on you but this was a really stupid move to make when--"
He pressed his finger into my lips. "Shhh...not another word."
"What do you want?"
He laughed. "What do I want? No, little dove. What do you want."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know what happened last night," He sat up and I was hit with another realisation. This man was freaking tall! "But your heart got broken in the nastiest of ways and somehow, it made you want to get revenge, right?"
I swallowed and nodded. "Revenge. Uhm..."
"You don't have to act like the bigger person," he leaned towards me, softly grazing my skin as he pushed strands of my hair behind my ear. "Your ex is a bastard for hurting such a beautiful woman as you. Does he know what he lost?"
I chuckled and looked down at my hands. "You don't even know me like that. How do you know I am not a terrible person?"
"You're an open book," He shrugged. "And you know you did nothing wrong to be treated that way."
The tears began to fall before I could even think. I nodded. "You're right. I deserve none of it. I loved him with all my heart! Hell, I planned this trip. How could he come back and slap me right in the face for that?"
He leaned back against his bed, a small smile crawling up his lips. "Don't you want to pay him back for what he did? Don't you want to make him feel so much regret for losing you?"
I faced him, my expression hard. Yes, I wanted to make Corey pay. I literally wasted two years of my life loving a man who couldn't make compromises for me, and now, he had to see what he had lost and was never getting back!
"Do you want to be my pretend boyfriend?"
He leaned back against the bed, his muscles bulging. A side of his lip curled to the side. "I don't even know your name."
"Stella Harlows," I stretched out my hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you."
"Tristan Dane."
"Wait," I stared into his face again, slowly recognising him once he placed a name to his face. "You're not the Tristan Dane everyone knows right? The Blizzard of the Frosthaven wolves?!"
He chuckled. "The one and only Tristan Dane."
I gasped in shock. "Oh, my God! This has to be a dream, right? No, it has to be."
While I digested this new information, a new idea popped into my head. Corey thought he could break me with his words? I was going to tear down his masculine ego, brick by brick. I didn't grow up with a mother who manipulated and killed people for a living to allow a man break me and go scot free.
Of course, I hated her, but I knew there was a part of me that thought she was badass.
This was the best opportunity I had ever gotten into. Tristan Dane was a world class player, known by literally everyone in this country and the continent. I knew him because Corey was a fan of his and would literally fanboy over him.
"Stella, I will be your pretend boyfriend." He rose to his feet. "But only on one condition."
I turned to him, my chest still full of surprise. "Of course."
"There will be no emotional connection whatsoever," He leaned towards me and brushed his fingers against my lips. "I know how easy it is for women to fall in love with me. And I must warn you, you will only get your heart broken."
I scoffed and folded one hand over the other. "C'mon, Tristan. I know how to control myself. I know this is nothing but a pretend romance."
He nodded and smiled. "Pretend romance. Deal it is.”
