“Find her!”
Kael’s voice echoed above, sharp and filled with urgency.
I tried to respond.
Tried to move.
But my body felt heavy.
Too heavy.
Like it no longer belonged to me.
“Lira!”
His voice was closer now.
Closer than before.
Panic filled it.
Real panic.
Something I had never heard from him before.
Footsteps approached quickly, echoing against the rough ground above.
Then—
He appeared.
His figure coming into view through my blurred vision.
His eyes scanned me instantly, and the moment he saw my condition…
Something changed.
Completely.
“Stay with me,” he said.
His voice was lower now, but there was tension in it.
Fear.
I tried to speak.
But nothing came out.
“I’ve got you,” he continued, moving closer carefully.
His hand reached for me, steady but urgent.
“You’re okay,” he said.
But I could hear it.
He didn’t believe his own words.
My vision darkened slightly as exhaustion took over.
I wanted to stay awake.
I tried to.
But it was getting harder.
“Don’t close your eyes,” he said quickly.
I blinked slowly.
Struggling.
“Lira, stay with me.”
His voice sounded distant now.
Fading.
Everything was fading.
The pain.
The fear.
The tension.
Even his voice.
As his hand finally reached me…
The darkness took over completely.
And everything went black.
