“You’re losing control.”
Alina’s voice was calm.
Too calm.
Kael didn’t respond immediately.
“That’s not like you,” she continued, stepping closer.
“I know what I’m doing,” he said.
“Do you?” she asked softly.
Silence followed.
Then she smiled slightly.
“Because from where I’m standing… you’re getting distracted.”
His jaw tightened.
“She’s carrying your child,” she added. “Of course you care.”
“It’s not about that.”
“Then what is it about?” she asked.
He didn’t answer.
And that was all she needed.
Her smile faded.
Replaced by something colder.
“You’re letting her change things,” she said. “You’re letting her take space that doesn’t belong to her.”
“She’s under my protection,” he replied.
“And I’m supposed to just accept that?” she asked.
Her voice didn’t rise.
But the tension did.
“She doesn’t replace you,” he said.
Alina laughed softly.
“That’s funny,” she said. “Because it feels like she already is.”
Silence stretched.
Then she stepped closer.
Lowering her voice.
“If you don’t fix this…”
She paused.
“I will.”
