The first thing I felt was pain.
A dull ache spread through my body as I slowly opened my eyes, blinking against the soft light filtering through the curtains. The room was unfamiliar, far too luxurious to be mine, and for a brief moment, I was confused.
Then everything came rushing back.
My breath hitched sharply.
“No… no, no…”
I sat up abruptly, clutching the sheets to my chest as panic surged through me. Memories from last night replayed in fragments—his voice, his touch, the way I had completely lost control.
Kael.
My heart dropped as I turned to the side.
The bed was empty.
Of course it was.
A bitter laugh escaped my lips, though it sounded more like a broken sob. Rejected in front of everyone… yet still good enough for a night he would never speak of again.
Tears filled my eyes, but I quickly wiped them away, refusing to let myself fall apart.
“No more crying,” I whispered, even though my voice trembled.
Slowly, I got out of bed, my legs weak as I gathered my scattered clothes from the floor. Each step felt heavy, like I was carrying the weight of my own mistake.
I dressed quickly, avoiding the mirror completely.
I didn’t want to see the girl who had just given everything to someone who didn’t even want her.
By the time I walked out of the room, one thing was clear in my mind.
Last night would remain a secret.
No matter what.
