I WON'T GO WITH YOU

“I said I’m not going anywhere with you.” My voice came out stronger this time, even though my heart was racing wildly in my chest. Kael stopped a few steps away from me, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he wasn’t used to being challenged. “Be careful, Lira,” he said quietly, but the warning in his tone was clear. “You’re testing my patience.” A bitter laugh escaped my lips. “Your patience?” I repeated. “You rejected me in front of everyone. You humiliated me. And now you’re here acting like you have any right over me?” His jaw tightened, but he didn’t deny it. Good. At least he knew what he had done. “I don’t belong to you anymore,” I continued, my hand unconsciously moving to my stomach. “And neither does this child.” That was the wrong thing to say. In an instant, the air around him changed. Dangerous. Possessive. “You’re wrong,” he said, his voice dropping low. “That child is mine. Which means you are still tied to me whether you like it or not.” Before I could react, he stepped forward and grabbed my wrist. “Let go of me!” I struggled, but his grip was firm. “You’re coming with me,” he said again, leaving no room for argument. And this time… I realized he wasn’t asking.
