Like she belonged there. Unlike me. “Why is she here?” I heard someone whisper. I kept my head down, focusing on my food, pretending not to notice. But it was impossible to ignore the tension. “You’re not eating enough.” My fork paused mid-air. Kael’s voice. I looked up slowly. “I’m fine,” I said. “You said that before,” he replied, his tone firm. Before I could respond, Alina spoke. “She’s an omega, Kael. Maybe she’s just not used to proper meals,” she said lightly, but the insult was clear. A few people around the table chuckled quietly. My grip tightened around my fork but I refused to react. “I can take care of myself,” I said, my voice steady. Kael didn’t look at her. His eyes stayed on me. Then he said "Eat" It wasn’t a suggestion. For a moment, no one spoke. Then slowly, I continued eating. But I could feel it. The shift. The tension. And most of all… Alina’s jealousy growing stronger by the second.
