The atmosphere in the pack had changed overnight.
There were no more hidden whispers.
Now, everything was said out loud.
“She planned it.”
“She trapped the Alpha.”
“She doesn’t belong here.”
I walked through the courtyard, hearing every word, feeling every stare. But this time, I didn’t lower my head.
I refused to.
I had done nothing wrong.
“You really don’t get tired, do you?”
I stopped.
Alina.
She stood in front of me, arms crossed, her eyes sharp.
“I could say the same about you,” I replied calmly.
Her lips curved slightly.
“You’re still here,” she said. “Even after everything.”
“I don’t have a choice.”
“You always have a choice,” she said softly. “You just chose the one that benefits you.”
Something inside me snapped.
“You think this benefits me?” I asked. “Being hated? Being watched? Living somewhere I don’t belong?”
Her expression flickered for a moment.
Then hardened.
“You belong exactly where you put yourself,” she said.
She stepped closer, lowering her voice.
“Just remember… this pack doesn’t forgive easily.”
Then she walked past me.
Leaving behind a warning that lingered long after she was gone.
