A NEW RULE

“You will stay in the east wing,” Kael said as we entered the mansion. His tone was calm, but it carried authority that was impossible to ignore. “I don’t need your arrangements,” I replied, folding my arms. “I didn’t agree to any of this.” He stopped walking and turned to face me slowly. “And yet, here you are.” I hated how right he sounded. “You can’t control me,” I said firmly. Something flickered in his eyes — amusement… or maybe interest. “We’ll see about that,” he replied. Before I could respond, another voice interrupted. “Kael?” My body stiffened instantly. Alina. She walked toward us gracefully, her presence as confident as ever. Her eyes landed on me, and for a brief moment, surprise flashed across her face. Then it was gone. Replaced by something colder. “So it’s true,” she said softly. “You brought her back.” I held her gaze, refusing to look away. “I didn’t come back by choice,” I said. Her lips curved slightly. “That doesn’t change anything.” The tension between us was immediate. Sharp. Unspoken. And dangerous. Kael stepped between us, his expression unreadable. “Things are different now,” he said. But deep down… I knew one thing. This was only the beginning.
