Evelyn's POV
I wake up to the sound of waves crashing in the distance and immediately jump up.
Holy s**t. I'm still on the boat. This whole thing wasn't a dream. It was Fuckin real! Even what happened last night. Just thinking about it brought shivers down my spine. Not the good kind.
There was a knock ever so soft on my door. "Hun? It's me. Jason" oh. Relief filled me and I ran toward the door through the small space. I flung it open and wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. I didn't know I did until Jason cleared his throat. "Are you okay, amor?" Woah. Spanish accent? I didn't know he was Spanish, I mean he has really tan skin but I thought that was from being on the ship?
"You speak Spanish?" I ask as I let go of his neck and plant my feet on the floor. "Sì, seńorita. I'm from Spain." He says as he laughs a little. "I just try to hide it because I don't really like it. Makes me sound funny compared to all the other men out there."
"I love it." I say honestly with a smile on my face. He seems pleased with my response and smiles back at me. I smile at him and we stand there smiling at each other. No awkwardness and just me him and my ripped gown.
Wait...
Ripped gown?? s**t! I quickly widen my eyes and close the gown the best I could and turn around. "s**t. s**t. s**t. s**t. Shit." I keep muttering. Jason must think I'm a lunatic! "Everything okay?" He puts his hand on my shoulder and the involuntary sparks flare and make me melt into his touch. I turn around but still holding the fabric together. "I need a new outfit." I say in the smallest voice ever.
He looks at me seeing the panic in my eyes and laughs. Just laughs at me, the bastard. "What? What is so funny?" He points at me, my face heating up. I slap him on the chest and he grabs my hand and looks at me with serious eyes. "Did you- Did you just slap me?" Still holding my hand on his chest I squeeze down so my nails claw him.
"You bet your sweet Spanish ass I did! And I clawed you!" I stick my tongue out at him and he laughs at me again. Like falling over slapping his knee laughing. "Oh dear god! There's that fire in your eyes!" Swoon. His accent! Swoon! He immediately stops and stares at me like I'm crazy. "What?" Now it's my turn to look at him crazy. "What Jason?"
"Did you just say swoon? And then Spanish accent?" I said that out loud? The hell? "Uhmmm..." it takes all I have not to fall to a heap in the floor. I'm practically naked and saying swoon out loud to a guy I barely know but feel like I've known forever. This is getting totally out of hand. "I brought you a shirt to change into. I mean, since I'm a pretty big guy it'll look like a dress on you. All you have to do is tie your belt around it and you'll be good as new." He hands me the clothes and leaves without another word.
I'm left standing there with his shirt in my hand and not knowing what to do next.

I walk out from below deck with Jason's shirt on with my belt tied around it. The makeshift dress comes up to mid thigh and shows off my tan legs, looks pretty damn good though. Chefs kiss! I walk over to where my father and Jason are talking and tap my father on the shoulder. "I have questions still." Is all I say and he turns around. So does Jason.
"What in the hell are you wearing?" My father asked me. I just shrug, "I had to make do with what I could find till we get to the first stop. I have no clothes." Jason looks pleased with this look. Like he actually meant for me to wear it like this and show him. I mean I kinda walked over to talk to him and show him the outfit. But that's besides the point. "I have questions sir!" I tell him.
"Alright then dear. Let's go to the cabin and talk. Jason come along." We make our way to the cabin. I have no idea what I'm gonna ask but I know I'm getting all the answers today, no ifs about it.
"Ask away, little lady." My father tells me. So I do. "How did you meet my mother? Why did you leave knowing she was having me? Did you ever think to actually come find me? Did you even want a child?" I have many more but he stops me.
"Relax child. I can answer them all just give me a minute without you hounding me with all em at once. So, I met your mother when I was about Jason's age, 21. Her family didn't like me but no one really does. Anyway, we were young and in love. Naïve and stupid to thing it'll last. I broke it off with her when I went on my first sea bound trip. That was when she told me she was pregnant. Then I was gone for two months, came back and searched for her. I went to her parents estate and attempted to talk to her. Her mother told me she wanted nothing to do with a lowlife pirate and to get lost. So, that's what I did."
My father took a long pause and then began speaking again, "Soon after I was on the ships again. When I made it to the first dock I had gotten a letter saying that she had had a girl. I raced as fast as I could to get on a ship back home. And when I did I raced to get to her families estate. When I got there they had told me her and the baby had died. Told me your mother died because of you. Of a bastard child from a bastard pirate. I know your other question, yes your mother came from a wealthy family. The Evergreene's where wealthy beyond measure. Why they told me you were dead and didn't keep you is beyond comprehension because you are a diligent, my dear."
He took in a breath, "does that answer any of your other questions?" He asked me. "All of em are answered. For now at least. Oh wait. How did you meet Jason?" He smiled and something glimmered in his eyes. Knowingness? Knowing what was happening between us? But nothing was happening to me and Jason. Nothing at all. At least I thought so.
"I met him while in Spain when he was just 13 years old. He was living on the streets and I had a soft spot for the kid. I was in Spain for about three weeks and he'd come up to me everyday on my ship asking if I wanted to buy fruit. So I bought all of it and one thing led to another, I took him in." Aww that's sweet.
I turn to Jason who looks at my father like he's struck gold. I can see how much he respected my father and he him. They were best friends. Captain and first mate. Nothing beats that. "Alright. Well I'm off to order my men around. Stay in here as long as you need to look around at my treasures through the years. After all, you're my daughter and should know about my journeys!"
He walked out and I sagged in the chair at his desk. Jason came up behind me and massaged my shoulders. I didn't know I was tense till he pressed on my shoulder. "Easy amor. Calm down. You know a lot about your mother now than you did yesterday. He'll talk more when he's ready and so will you." He said sweetly.
