Chapter 1
Running like my life depends on it, I hear the yells from the old man behind me, "Get back here! You have to pay for that you delinquent!" I snort at his remark, delinquent, really? I'm not that, I mean I may be running from an elderly man with his fruit from his shop stand, but I am no delinquent. "Sorry sir!" I yell back. "I'll send my regards!" Living on the streets ain't for the weak, I can tell you that much. A little background as to how I ended up here; I never had a family, I don't have a past. I'm an orphan and that's as much past as I have. To myself, I'm an 18 year old badass that doesn't have a family. All I know about my mother is that her name was Amelia Evergreene and I took her last name. Despite them at the orphanage it was pointless, I still feel like I had a right to that name, as it was my mothers. So here I am, 18 year old Evelyn Evergreene. Anyway, running from the elderly man I stop and finally turn to see he had given up and is no longer following me. I look around me and don't recognize my surroundings. I'm in a part of town that I don't visit often and decide I could take a look around before turning back and heading to my home, a home that is a box in an alley way. I'm walking around, exploring the shops nearby when I see a sign for a fortune teller. I decide that why the hell not and go inside. I'm laughing to myself as I walk through the dingy lighted shop and turn to see a woman sitting in a chair with a crystal ball in front of her. I take a seat in front of her and she holds out her hand, " Give me your hand, child." Okay... Creepy if I do say so myself. But I oblige and give her my hand. I'm hit with a shock as she takes my hand in hers and this feeling doesn't happen often so I automatically know she isn't who she is pretending to be. Her eyes are glowing a crystal green color and she's speaking in a language I do not understand. It's as if she's casting a spell, but soon the grip on my hand tightens and she is now gripping my wrist. This makes me attempt to jerk away but she only grips tighter. "Oh child, you don't understand what you are do you?" I look and feel frantic. "I...I... what do you mean lady?" She grabs my other hand and speaks again, "Child, you are an heiress to the sea. You're father is the king of the seven seas." I look at her like she's crazy! Cause she is, like my father is not a king and what? The seven seas? Ridiculous. I knew I shouldn't have come in here. I try to take my hand back but she holds firm, not letting me go. "You will find him at the docks. But you must hurry, child. He won't be there for long." What? The question I have in my head is answered as she looks at me with peering eyes, "you're father is Jonathan Blackbeard. Hurry now. Find him." And with that she lets go and walks off. I hurry out the door of her shop to get away from whatever the hell that was. Good god... I have no idea what that was but something is telling me to listen to her. Weird I know. But I make my way to the docks. I have no idea who or what I'm looking for but it can't be too far away.
I'm walking along the docks when I hear whistles coming from a ship. "Hey! Lady! What're you doin out here on the docks?" I roll my eyes. Silly boys. I laugh as I respond, "trying to see which boy I wanna bring home to dearest father. Any of you fancy a trip to meet and greet an old sad angry man?" They look at me like I've gone mad. I just laugh and keep walking. I don't know what brings me to a stop but something does. I turn to my left and see a huge ship labeled Evelyn. What. The. Actual. f**k. That's my name, I'm confused. So I climb aboard. I get curious looks from the men aboard the ship and if I do say so some of them look like they want to eat me. Just then I'm hit in the face by a brick wall. Not a wall, as I look up it's a man. He's old, like grey hair and wrinkles old. Ew. "What're you doin on my ship girlie?" He asked not so politely.
"I'm looking for my father."
