Denzil was about to ride down the lane to Stickles farm when he remembered that he was supposed to visit Bess Creedy before meeting Goathead again.
He had just learned of the failure to kill Rupert and Pyke, and he was seething with anger inside. It must be corrected. He wondered what Goathead would say about the skeletons unsuccessful mission. No point in making it angrier than necessary by forgetting to visit old Bess, crank that she was. It seemed so foolish to him that she would give him anything.
