Stoneman
Robin Stoneman was dead. The first passerby that mid-summer morning stumbled across the gruesome sight of his mangled body.
When help was found, the body was conveyed to Rexford village, where the constable and doctor examined it.
A verdict of 'misadventure' was recorded and a few days later he was laid to rest in the corner of the churchyard. No one knew that he was a Stickles. If they had, he would not have been buried there. Most likely, a four-cross way beside a road somewhere would have been his plot.
A few weeks later, Tom Poltimore, Constable and Magistrate of the area, went to visit Edward Masonbury.
