Chapter 2: Empty promises

I stood on the steps confidently as the woman and her guards approached us.

"H-i.." Garrett said fumbling with his words. I rolled my eyes and reached my hand out to her. 

"Hello, I am Allison, pack warrior, worlds best tour guide and best friend to the speechless i***t beside me." I said smiling at her. She took my hand laughing, while Garrett glared.

"I'm Sophie, daughter of Alpha Kingsley of the Spark-river pack." She smiled between Garrett and I.

"This is Alpha Garrett of our lovely Ash-wind pack. Welcome Sophia." I said introducing my i***t boyfriend.

"Thank you Allison." Garrett said to me. "Sophia, it is very nice to meet you, would you like to stand and greet guests with me, seeing as you will be my Luna." She nodded her head yes and Garrett smiled. I felt my heart rip in half, but I didn't show it. I kept a smile on my face, Sophia and Garrett were like lovesick puppies the whole time we greeted. Once everyone was accounted for I made my way to the buffet table. I found Adam and wrapped my arms around him. He held me tightly, I never hug him unless something is wrong, so he was instantly alert. I felt him stiffen as I heard Garrett giggling with Sophia. 

"Are you okay Al?"

"No." I whimpered. I had believed him, I had believed every word he had ever spoken to me, every empty promise. I let Adam go and took a few deep breaths and put on my acting face. I could act nice enough to fool almost anyone. Adam is the only one who truly knows my every feeling. I began walking around conversing with our guests.

(Garrett: Allison will you come up to my office?) 

I politely ended my conversation with Luna Dylan and made my way up to Garrett's office. I got to the door and heard moaning. I waited until I heard silence, I knocked and Garrett told me to enter. I walked in and stood behind a chair, Sophia and Garrett were correcting their clothes.

"You know I was in the middle of a very nice conversation with Luna Dylan, you could've finished and then called me up." I said rolling my eyes earning a growl from Garrett. 

"Allison." He warned.

"I hope this is about training. I would hate to have another episode like this morning." I sighed. Garrett growled and Sophia looked at me confused. "Ya know what never-mind, I am taking a vacation. I'll call you from London." I said turning on my heel. Garrett snarled at me.

"Allison!" He yelled. I turned around to see his face was beet red. "I wanted to inform you that you would be Sophia's personal guard while she stays here." He growled.

"Like I said I'm taking a vacation. Call it a payment into your debt. I'll see you in a few weeks." I said firmly.

"What debt?" Sophia asked confused. Garrett looked at the ground.

"His family owes mine a life debt. My father was killed saving his, so he owes me. BTW Adam and Brayden will be joining me. Cheerio!" I said in my best british accent as I left his office. I walked home and went to my room. I grabbed a suitcase and started packing, the tears i had been holding back escaped my eyes.I went into the bathroom and washed the makeup off of my face. I stomped around my room, after a while I ran outside and shifted, I ran all over the pack boundary. I ended back up at the gathering, I walked around in wolf form looking for Adam. I found him and Brayden sitting in some lawn chairs talking to some people I didn't know. I went over and layed down next to Adam, I rested my head in his lap, and he stroked my head.

"And who is this gorgeous wolf?" One of the people said.

"This is my sister Allison."

(Allison: Adam I'm leaving, heading to London for a week, then going to Hawaii, I need to get away for a little bit. Can you guys come?)

(Adam: Sorry Al, Brayden and I can't we both have to work, but I understand why you need to go. Be safe and call me everyday okay?)

(Allison: I promise big brother.) I stood and licked his face, then I walked over to Brayden and nudged him, I gave him a wolfish hug and licked his cheek before turning and running back home. Garrett was standing outside my house. I shifted and walked past him, pretending he wasn't there. 

"Allison, we need to talk."

"Nope." I said popping the p. I walked to my room and he followed me. I put on underwear and sweatpants, I threw on a sports bra and an old shirt of Adam's. 

"I know you are mad Ally, but I need you to understand, I saw her and all the other girls faded away, no-one can hold a candle to her beauty. Everyone else is insignificant compared to her." He tried to explain, but he was pissing me off even more.

"I don't give a f**k Garrett, I need time to cool off before I rip ya damn head off, now get your lying ass out of my way." I growled grabbing my suitcase and shoving past him. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed my car keys, wallet and phone. I set the suitcase down and went into Adam's room. I shut and locked the door in Garrett's face before going to the closet and opening our safe. I entered the combination and pulled out an envelope full of cash. I grabbed a thousand dollars and closed the safe. I pocketed the cash and opened the door to find Garrett still there, I rolled my eyes and walked past him.

"Allison please, I still need you, just as a friend." He whimpered. I turned and glared at him.

"Garrett shut the f**k Up! I really don't want to kill you, but you know damn well I'm not afraid to." I said angrily poking his chest. I turned around and grabbed my s**t and went out to my 67' ford mustang. I tossed my suitcase in the back and got in closing my door. I bucked up and started my engine, I put her in reverse and backed out of the driveway, I put her in drive and pulled away, watching Garrett and my house get smaller in my rear view mirror. I kept driving and once I hit the border, I drove right through. I smiled and sped up, I loved the way my engine purred. After a while I reached the closest airport and parked my car, paying a parking fee. I grabbed my bags and went inside, and got my ticket for Gatwick international airport, then I made my way to the gate and waited for over three hours, before my flight was called. I walked onto the plane, carrying a small bag, with a few clothes and extra feminine supplies in it. I got to my seat and looked out the window. I smiled as I felt Jinx running around in my head, she always wanted to see the small towns outside of London. 

When boarding was done I took out my phone and turned it off, ignoring the 27 missed messages from Garrett. The plane began to move and I felt the excitement flow through my veins, the woman who had sat beside me had a small child with her. The small little guy looked as excited as me, i smiled down at him as he looked past me. I giggled when he whooped as we took off, the woman with him laughed at both of us. 

"Ello, I'm Darren." The little guy said to me taking my hand. He had an adorable british accent.

"I'm Allison, but you can call me Ally." I said taking his hand and giving it a firm shake. 

"Where are you 'eaded Ally?" The woman asked me.

"I am just going on an adventure, my i***t ex, left me for someone else, so I am taking a needed vacation from my small town." I said smiling at her. She laughed and leaned into my ear.

"I can smell your wolf darling, you might wan't to mask your scent." She said grinning.

"Oops." I said flaring my nostrils and showing all my teeth.

"You should spend the night at our place, to show you bear no ill meaning to us darling." She whispered raising her eyebrow. I smiled lightly and nodded my head. 

"I'll tell you the real story later then, although what I said wasn't exactly a lie." I said looking into her kind brown eyes. She nodded and Darren grabbed my hand. We made small talk almost the entire flight, her name is Nora and she is Darren's nanny and personal guard. Darren has decided that he and I will be the best of friends seeing as I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. Eventually Darren fell asleep with his head on my arm. I had never really thought about having children, but I think one like Darren would be nice. I got up to use the restroom, I had covered my scent after Nora informed me I forgot to. I looked in the mirror and sighed, I ran a hand through my hair and pulled it up in a bun. I splashed cold water on my face and washed my hands before leaving. I sat back down and Nora got up to use the restroom. I ran my hand through Darren's dirty blonde hair, he stirred and looked up at me with his cute little golden eyes with hazel around his irises, he smiled and climbed into my lap and went back to sleep. Nora came back and played with her graying, brown hair, she smiled at Darren and I.

"How old are you Ally?" She asked.

"I'm 22."

"And you don't 'ave a mate?"

"Nope." I said with a small smile. 

"What about you?"

"My mate is picking us up at the airport."

"Whats is your mates name?" I ask curiously.

"His name is Robert, we are both 45 now, we care for little Darren and his family."

"I dated this guy, who wanted to reject his mate for me, but when he saw her, he broke all of his promises. The thing is we had been together since we were nineteen. I believed every word he told me. I'm just glad I saved myself. He just happens to be my Alpha." I mouthed the word Alpha. Nora nodded at me and I smiled sadly. My ears popped as we made our decent, I put Darren back in his seat and buckled him up. I sighed as the nine-hour flight came to an end. I got up grabbing my bag and Darren's small hand took mine. We left the plane and went to the baggage claim, I grabbed my suitcase and waited for Nora and Darren. We all walked to a man with Grey hair and green eyes. He wrapped Nora up in a bone crushing hug, Darren and I giggled as Nora squealed.

"Hello young lady, I'm Robert, Nora's 'usband, you must be Allison."

"That would be correct Robert." I smiled at him. He led us outside to a large black SUV. We climbed in, I helped Darren buckle up in his booster seat.

"What does your wolf look like Ally?" Darren asked.

"Jinx is a very pretty orange-ish red with creamy legs and belly, some of the cream color is under her chin.She has really pretty silver eyes. She is a little bit taller than me." 

"Can I see 'er sometime."

"That little guy is up to your family, I don't want to scare them."

"No way, no-one can scare my dad. 'e will scare you."

"I don't think so little one, I don't get scared ever."

"Really?"

"Really." I said wiggling my finger at Darren's nose. He giggled and Nora looked back at us. Soon i felt us cross a pack barrier. I sat back in my seat and crossed my arms and giggled at Darren who was going crazy with excitement. 

We pulled up in front of what looked like a palace. We all got out and a rather large wolf came toward us, he smiled as Darren ran and launched himself in the mans arms. A woman came out behind him and Darren attacked her next. The man looked at me and I bowed my head, I looked up to see him walking calmly toward me. 

"You're Allison?" He asked.

"That I am." I said calmly. 

"Why are you in my territory?" He said growling lowly.

"I met Nora and Darren on the plane, Nora thought it would be a good idea for me to introduce myself so you know I mean no harm with my presence here." I said still calm.

"Nora?" He asked not taking his eyes from mine.

"It's true your highness." Nora said bowing her head.

I gave Nora a questioning glance, she smiled shyly at me. I heard the big guy sigh. "I am King Derrick, Alpha of the Alpha wolves around the world. I'm guessing Nora didn't share that with you."

"Nope." I said popping the p. He looked at me confused. "Sorry, apparently I have a small respect issue, at least that is what my Alpha says." I said shrugging.
