Chapter 2: A Flabbergasting Night

The sun was already up when I woke up. But my roommate was already awake and back again at his computer. He was listening to a song, I guessed because he had his Headphones on.

I went to the bathroom to freshen up a bit. I washed my face and brushed my teeth and for a moment, admired my face in front of the mirror. "Who's the lucky girl?" I said to myself daydreaming about who the girl who will be lucky enough to call me her own. I wiped my face with a towel.

My straw colored hair was sticking out to all sides. It was looking dull, so I made the effort to make it look normal. When I got outside, my roommate was lying on his bed.

Again, with his Headphones on.

I thought for some time and I decided that I should make the first move of introducing since I would want to befriend my roommate, and it is not because I saw his "FRIEND" last night. I approached him and said "Hi!" I said it with a smile to make my demeanor more warm and welcoming.

"Hello" he answered back and gave me a smile as well, and from that I knew he could be a good friend.

"I'm Carter; Carter Freeman." I said as I gave effort with introducing.

"Matthias. Matthias Connor Blake" He replied.

"Conversation's going well." I thought to myself.

"You're grade 11 too, right?" He asked me

"Yes, aren't you?"

"I am" he sounded relieved.

We talked more after that. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I felt satisfied I am now friends with my roommate.

We had lunch together and Kyle was with us because he saw me and decided to be of company.

"So you're roommates?" He asked as he chewed the sausage from his fork.

"Yes." I replied after drinking because I was already done.

"I insist that you get more. You can eat all you want, you paid for it." He told me gesturing at my empty plate.

"I'm already full. Besides, I'm not  much of an eater" I explained

Matthias was still eating so I decided to wait for him. I got my phone and turned it on, I scrolled through it but couldn't find anything to do with it so I turned it off.

"Have you heard?" Kyle asked us.

Me and Matt seemed puzzled at his question.

"Heard what?" Matt said answering the question with a question.

"They do it annually here,  every start of each school year, a whole week will be for having fun, and I think it will be a lot of activities. It is for the new-comers here, to get them used to the University"

"When will it be?" I asked and excitement was evident in my voice.

"Next two days" Kyle told us.

After eating we went back to our room since there weren't a lot to do outside since it was blazing hot. We spent the whole morning until mid-day inside the room, I watched TV while Matt was on his computer.

"TV shows are lame" Matt said distastefully since I was going channel after channel trying to find a good movie or show.

He lied down in his bed and again wore those Headphones. I too was getting bored. I turned of the TV and just laid in my bed staring at the ceiling. I faced my roommate who was now sleeping. I decided to assess him while he's asleep.

So he is the type of guy who, even at sleep, you would remark him as Perfect. Well nobody ever told me that because even my closest friends don't see how I sleep. Matthias was bright skinned. His hair was perfectly disarranged, and it suits him. His lips had that curvature of a model's lip. His lips started to move. It was pouting. It seemed that he was kissing someone in his sleep.

I fought the urge to laugh because I imagined him like a baby sucking a bottle of milk. I grabbed my phone and decided to take a video of that moment, I planned to show it someday though.

I tried to sleep but my body refused. I went to my study table and started to sketch random things.

A message notification from my phone made me stop. It was from an unknown number who said "Hi, How are you?"

I was confounded but I replied.

"Who is this?"

After a few seconds an immediate reply notified me again.

"guess who Carter..."

"Look, I don't have time for games." I was getting annoyed with this person.

"Wrong answer"

I was annoyed but still replied and I was hoping to get the person to tell his name and how he or she got my number.

"Tell me so I could reconsider blocking this number." I replied.

"HEY! IT'S ME CASSEY"

The first question I was able to think of was "How'd you get my #?"

"Your mom gave it to me"

I was shocked and at the same time grinning.

"She knows my mom, they're friends, and my mom told her that I am studying here and your mom figured it would be nice if she gave your number. So I took it" she added and explained the history of how she got my number.

"Well, that's..." I sent her this  not knowing what to reply.  god, she makes me speechless. "One of a kind" I thought to myself.

"You free later?" She asked. I grinned thinking that I should be the one asking her this.

"Not much to do but yeah am free" I told her.

"Let's go to the mall, if it's fine with you?" She said. I imagined her crossing her fingers hoping I'd come, it was cute and the image made me laugh.

"Yeah sure, what time?" I said agreeing.

"Around 4"

"Ok"

"Let's just meet in the University's garden" she said bye after this text.

I dropped a message for my mom before I finally took a nap.

"Mom thank you for giving my number to Cassey. Lol"  and I added "Don't send this to her. HAHA"

After I slept, I groomed myself. I went to the Garden but before that I told Matt that I might not be going to take dinner here and said I'm going to the mall. It wasn't hot at that time anymore.

I wore white Fila shoes, white pants, and for my top I wore bright pink cotton long sleeves. I sat down at the bench as I waited for my friend date, if it is what I should call it. I laughed at the thought.

"Hey!" I turned to look and found Cassey approaching me.

She had her hair falling from her head to her shoulders. She wore blue floral skirt and a Mint green crop-top off shoulder for her upper garment. She looked amazing. She's classic and she doesn't need to where denim shorts to make you turn your head.

"Let's go?" She asked and I nodded.

I didn't get my car yet because I figured that it would be a waste if I still brought it, because I don't live far away from where I'm studying already.

We took a Cab to the Mall. The Cab pulled over at the main entrance and Cassey and I got going.

"What are you gonna do here?" I asked her

"I want to see yo—" she stopped mid-sentence and said "No I just want to buy something and chill, You know" she said but it was faster this time.

She bought a pair of converse and an oversized shirt.

"She sure do knows dress-up"  I thought.

"How about you?" She asked me.

"Nah, I'm fine here with you" I said and I meant it.

I saw her cheeks flared red. I grinned but I didn't let her see it.

"Come here" she told me. She grabbed my arm and got me to the men's section of the clothing line. "So this is your price for flirting with this lady" my subconscious told me.

She bought me White long-sleeved cotton shirt. I wanted not to get it but then she said it will be quite rude if I won't accept a gift.

Then I figured it was my turn to treat her. "Let's go watch movies. It's rude to not accept a gift" I teased her.

"hey! Don't use my words against me" she said laughing. We went to buy tickets for the movie "Men in Black" it was a new movie. So we watched it.

I enjoyed watching... Her.

She was laughing at the scenes and it made her look more amazing. I laughed at that time when she was laughing and suddenly faced me and caught me looking at her. Our faces were one inch away from each other, she pulled away and stopped laughing. "It's so funny, hehe" she said sensing the situation.

After the movie we ate at a restaurant and I treated her again. I wouldn't want her to spend much. While we were eating, I was occasionally looking at her and she would sometimes see me looking at her and I immediately look away.

While she was eating the sauce from her food was at the side of her mouth and she didn't seem to notice. I got the napkin from the table and wiped the sauce off her lower lip, and that was the second time I saw her blush. After that incident she refused every eye contact we were supposed to have, I guess she was shy. It satisfied me though.

I paid the bill and we started going home.

"We should come here more, don't you think?" I asked her

"It would be a good idea." She said looking at me. Her pitch black eyes were intently focused on my ocean blue eyes. The moment was amazing. I grabbed her hand and went to the entrance to wait for a Cab. While we were waiting our eyes met again.

My hands touched her face. My face was going towards her and our lips were about to touch at any moment. My other hand grabbed her waist, her body responded and came closer.

Closer and closer and closer I came. I closed my eyes and hers as wel—

Suddenly a light from the Cab stopped me from what I was about to do. Damn that Cab. I saw Cassey grin which made me laugh. We got inside the cab and Cassey told the cab driver, "Greenfield U. please"

We were holding hands as the cab went on route. "You will make a great family." the man said

We looked at each other and grinned. We got to the University at 8 pm.  I  walked with her until we were infront of the Girl's Dorm Building.

"I'm going now. Thank you Carter." she smiled.

She grabbed my waist, stood on her tiptoes and gave me a warm kiss on my cheek.

I felt my face and muscles flex. She hugged me and I hugged her back. She started to walk towards the entrance and I was still there watching her until she goes in and I'll leave. But she turned around and shouted, "THANK YOU CARTER!"

it made me laugh because it looked cute. I shouted back, "YOU'RE WELCOME CASSEY" she put her pointer finger infront of her mouth and gestured me to be quiet.

When she got inside, I started walking to my Dorm. All the while I was thinking about the warm kiss she planted on my cheeks and it made me smile. I looked at my phone and saw that my mother replied, "I figured you need someone to make you happy"

"Perfect choice mom. Thank you" I texted her back.

I reached the dorm building and I took the elevator to the 3rd floor. The door was locked, I unlocked it and got inside.

I prepared to take a bath. I took my clothes off. Since no one was there I decided to be stripped naked. "I'm safe they won't see my gorgeous body" I thought.

I went inside the bathroom and got to the shower. I turned it on and it made that usual soothing sound and it's  water caressed my naked body, replacing the heat with the soothing coldness I need.

I had my eyes closed while printing a picture of the smiling Cassey in my mind. I stayed like this for a few minutes and then I rubbed soap through out my body.

The door to the bathroom suddenly opened. It was Matthias with a towel draped around his body. he has a body, just like mine, that women would die for. I didn't make any sound and continued showering. Then I saw him remove the towel draped around him, as the towel got removed a, "dangling thing" I saw before was exposed.

"OI! OI! OI! I'm still taking a bath" I shouted.

He got in the tub as if he didn't hear anything.  He laid there naked closing his eyes, relaxed as the water poured through his body.

"Hey! I'm still taking a bath. Go out first" I said again

Matthias sat up from the tub and told me "We're both guys, aren't we? Not unless you're what you act you are, scared of this thing I have. Do you have a problem with it?" He teased me.

"Hey! I'm not! And I ain't afraid of it. And No I don't have a problem" I scowled back

He just laughed at my answer and continued lying in the tub. 

"damn! Shameless!" I thought.

When I was finished with showering I reached for the towel and continued with my Hygiene stuff with only a towel draped around me. When I was about to go out, Matthias called me.

"Carter"

I turned back and asked "what?"

"Close door as you leave please. You forgot to close it so I got in I thought no one was here, it's not my fault you saw "Mr. Thing" He laughed and was quite happy for teasing me.

I closed the door behind me and changed into my night clothes, and quickly got to bed, hoping that I would erase the memory and quickly drift off to sleep.
