Love Won

My name is Valerie Martinez, although most people call me Val. I’m from a small town in Venice. I live with my family in a 5 bedroom bungalow. My dad takes care of pets in a small clinic while my mum is a florist. I have two siblings, Gia and Enzo. They are both in high school while I work as a waitress in a coffee shop downtown but I also sell paintings because I draw for the love of art. It was early hours of Thursday morning when I decided to stay back home, I just didn’t feel like it, more or less wanted to just have some alone time “maybe draw? I thought. My dad had finished getting ready for the clinic while my mum was making breakfast. Enzo had exams today while Gia had knitting lessons at school. I lazily went down to assist mum in the kitchen but as I arrived, she was done. “Good Morning mum” I said trying to sound as bright as I could while walking towards the kitchen cabinet. “Morning sunshine, did you sleep well? She asked while whisking the pancakes batter. “Kind off, I guess” I replied tiredly well because I didn’t and all I wanted was to have some alone time, grab any food I could get and go back to my room. My mum started frying the pancakes as she asked “and why is that? Are you not well? “I am well, I just don’t feel like it mama, I just need some time for me” I sighed. My dad walked in “Good morning ladies” he greeted as he went forward to kiss my mum on the forehead, she smiled and replied “morning darling”. “Are you not getting ready val? My dad asked because usually I’m always the first to get ready. “Uhmm naaa I don’t feel like it daddy, I’ll just pass” I replied while making the orange juice for everyone. “That’s new” he surprisingly said while he folded his arms staring at me as if to interrogate me. “She’s been working really hard darling, one day off won’t make her lazy right? My mum sweetly said as she went over to set the table. My dad nodded and went over to the table to eat while I was still making the juice. “Val can you hurry up already? Not everyone has the privilege to be at home like you” my dad shouted from the dining. “Just a min” I replied as I quickly finished up and took them to the dining. Just then, Enzo and Gia came running hurriedly from their rooms. “Is breakfast ready yet? Gia asked as she proceeded to take her sit keeping her school bag beside the chair. “Pancakes? Enzo asked with a pale face as he took a sit beside Gia. My mum went up to freshen up while the rest of my family was sat at the dining having breakfast. 10 minutes later, they were done, said their goodbyes and left while I proceeded to clear up the table and have my breakfast in the kitchen. “Val I’ll be leaving now dear” said my mum as she grabbed her handbag and keys.”have a great day darling” she yelled “you too mama” I replied. After breakfast, I went to my room, slammed the door and fell on my bed. “Damn” I sighed as I stared at the ceiling thinking of nothing in particular. “Well I’d need some inspiration if I have to draw” I thought to myself. I stood up and took off my clothes, walked into the bathroom, turned the shower on and had a quick bath. After I was done, I came out, dried off and went to get dressed. I picked my black leggings and black polo with my white g-string panties. applied my deodorants, got dressed, sprayed my favorite Valentino perfume. Tied my hair in a messy bun, applied my gloss, earrings and bracelet. Took my tote bag that has my pencil, draw paper, colors and brushes. Said a little prayer, grabbed my phone and headed out.
