“I never asked you to do it!” Evelynne yelled, almost sobbing. What the hell just happened? How did it come to this?

“I did it to save your sorry ass and here you are spitting out rubbish instead of…” he hissed, teeth clenched in fury.

Evelynne smiled bitterly, rubbing her flat stomach knowing there was a child there. She can’t kill her baby though she wanted to kill the father so much “I hate you” she gritted out standing up.

“Maybe you would have hated me more after I let them use you to their taste and satisfaction knowing I’d been aware of everything hmm?” He laughed though it sounded bitterly and forced he shook his head “it’s a mutual feeling”

She walked up to him and slapped him while he smirked more at her before saying “I've detested every inch of you from the first day I met you little wolf, so don’t be angry. It’s mutual” with that he pulled her hair and harshly kissed her passionately before pushing her to the floor not caring if she was pregnant and stepped out.

Which man would ever allow a woman to become an alpha? The answer is simple—none. Their pride is at stake here.

Born into a realm where women are nothing more than bargaining chips for power, traded, discarded, and abused by men, Evelynne has seen the brutal reality of her world. She has watched women suffer, their lives treated as mere exchange in the endless struggle for dominance among packs including her useless father.

Now, with her father on his deathbed to everyone’s delight, the position of alpha should rightfully be hers. If only she were a man. But as a woman, she is expected to be nothing more than the next piece in a political marriage—a pawn for false peace. However Evelynne swore she can’t be a pawn for these old geezers to take away her right from her.

She has trained for this moment since the day she understood her fate, and she refuses to accept it.

Defying the law which had been before her grandfather was born means declaring war—not just against her father’s pack, where she should have been the rightful heir, but against the entire Thalvion realm. But that has been her plan from the start anyway, she knew declaring her intentions would mean conflict and the bloodshed would be inevitable won’t stop her tussling for the throne.

A woman leading a pack? Unthinkable. A woman demanding power? Scandalous.

But Evelynne is ready to show them just how dangerous she can be as a woman whom they had thought was only for breeding children and the satisfaction of pleasure for them.

Can anyone stop her quest for the throne?

Chapter One
Everyone had thought being a woman would stop Evelynne from being an alpha. Something that has never happened in the history of werewolves and will not happen if someone doesn't stop it—her words. From the day she was a child, she confirmed she was a woman and her father had no son to succeed him made all the wheels in her head turn. She knew what was waiting for her; getting married to some other alpha from another pack or a beta, but never a gamma. She was still an alpha child, so she had to marry someone with a high status. But those thoughts ended when she witnessed what her father did to women like her. What was in the law of their pack, what the beta would do in their pack? Her father was in his sick bed, which was a good thing in a sense but bad in another. At least the useless orgies have been stopped, less noise and parties and more thinking of making the pack a better place for everyone. However, as much as he needs to die for a new and potential candidate to step in and make good of the pack resources for good, he needs to stay alive for a bit. She can’t be an alpha when his beta is hovering over him like a fly over a dead corpse. The healer has mentioned to everyone’s happiness he won’t survive and that most likely puts him in a position where he has to think of his pack and what will become of it after his death. Evelynne’s eyes went to the beta, who stood by the side of the broad room; cupboards of fine wood sat by the side of the wardrobe. A table in the middle and a poster bed that cost him a fortune where his almost dead body lay now helpless, and the bed couldn’t help him. She hissed under her breath, the sight of the beta always made her hate the existence of men. Maybe, the detestation for the male species started with her father and will not end until she leaves this world after making a legacy for all women to follow up that way. “The healer said he wouldn’t last up to a week” the beta, Magnus said from where he stood. “He will be dead soon”, he shifted to where he stood. Evelynne internally smirked, sharks waiting for a single piece of blood in the water to devour their prey, the owner of the blood, which turned out to be her foolish father, but not and never her. This had been their plan: kill him off, take the seat, create an army and try to take over all the other little packs around them for their dirty benefit. “Hmm, so I heard” she mumbled coherently enough for him to hear her, “the people are asking who would be the next alpha, since he hasn’t made any statement or written anything concerning him”. She sank back to her chair, feeling apathetic to the subject. “He doesn’t have to make or write any statement, it has been, and will continue, that way forever that the beta of the pack becomes the alpha if ever an alpha dies in the pack and has no son to succeed him.” “That needs to be abolished” “A woman has no say in the law, I don’t blame you. "You are only a woman who will get married and leave here sooner or later, maybe create an alliance that will make the pack a good one”, he pressed down on his coat. Evelynne smiled at him and hummed an affirmative message that he understood and left. She closed the door behind her and walked down the hallways of the pack house, her brain trying to think of ways to act before or after her father died. “Milady” “Milady” “Milady?” A young girl who looked an age or two older than her tapped her on her shoulders where she almost stumbled. “You scared me there Betty.” “I’ve been calling you, but you didn’t answer, so I had to tap you” evelynne walked away, taking off her gloves. That thing itches her a lot. She only put it on for formality. “I would have injured you Betty, my gloves were in the way, which made it a bit difficult to get you on the floor” she hissed at the thing. “I heard Beta Magnus was recruiting people for a court in the pack”, Betty said, tailing her and that made evelynne stop in her tracks. “Court?” “Yeah, it’s everywhere in the kitchen and the maids' quarters, even the market,” the maid continued. People? Recruiting? For the pack? And a court?” “Yes milady. Your food is ready for you…” “I need my horse”evelynne scuttled down the hall, mumbling words to herself. “But milady…you have to eat. "You didn’t eat this morning before you left and now…a horse?…to where?” Betty whispered whilst following behind her. “You don’t understand Betty, this pack will fall down in ruins if I don’t do something and I need my horse to do that.” “But?” “A horse Betty, no questions now” she turned to her maid. This time they were outside in the large compound of the pack, where if they walked a mile they would find a stable that was never in use. The horses there are just for fancy. People regard alphas with horses as rich men, but evelynne finds that stupid. “You could just turn” “People will notice, but if I used that animal they would think it was just some human merchant or a witch.” “But witches don’t use horses, they use their normal and obvious brooms or they disapparate themselves away…and you are a werewolf if I can remember.” “Just do as I say” “Ok” “Good” she sighed, running to her quarter in the pack, a place meant for the princess, as humans would call it. She needed to act fast. “Promise me you will be okay even” Betty yelled at her back as she ran. “I can’t promise you that bet, but I can promise I will make astral blood packs, one of the best packs in history. "Get me a horse before I come back”, she yelled back. “I need to make things right”, she said under her breath as she breathed hard, sprinting away.
