"I swear, I didn't kill her. Someone is trying to frame me so that the case would be closed. Trust me, please sir, I'm just a delivery driver," Kylie said, immediately falling to her knees. Liam didn't move, just watched her with an unreadable expression. "Obviously you didn't kill her," he said, his voice deep and calm as he folded his arms across his chest. His fierce presence filled the room, a powerful aura that seemed to press in on her, making her feel small and insignificant. Kylie's head snapped up. "You believe me?" "I'm not saying I believe you," he said, and for the first time, a flicker of something like contempt crossed his face. "How can a simple delivery driver like you kill my fiancée?" He leaned in closer, his stormy eyes locking with hers. "You're lucky," he said, his voice dropping to a near whisper. "So lucky you look exactly like Sabrina. It's the only reason I'm even considering helping you." He whispered to the man that was with him and he immediately left the two of them alone. "Then can you help me get out of here? I can't go to jail! It will be the end of my life," she pleaded. "Yes. I can get you out of here before your trial” he said and walked towards the window with his hands in his pocket “We both know the chances of you not going to jail are very low since all evidence points to you. And only your finger print was found on the weapon” "Thank you for believing me. I'm very grateful to you!" She was happy that she wouldn't end up in jail after all. She was happy there was someone who could get her out with his connection. "In exchange for helping you, you will have to do something for me in return." Kylie's eyes widened. She wondered what someone like her could offer this man. She had nothing to give except for her life. "And what would that be?" she asked curiously. "Become Sabrina! Live your life as Sabrina. I'll give you all the power and money that belongs to my fiancée if you agree to live your life as her. But if you don't, then you will have to go to jail for the murder of my fiancée!" Kylie rubbed her eyes, to be sure she wasn't dreaming. Everything was happening so fast that she refused to believe it. One moment she was arrested, and now they wanted her to take on the life of the deceased? "I don't understand. Why would I want to do that? It makes no sense." He finally walked over and sat on the edge of the table, looking down at her. "You're asking 'why?'" he said with a bitter laugh. "Because you're desperate, and I'm desperate. I'm a desperate man who's about to lose everything, and you're a desperate girl who's about to be sent to jail for a murder you didn't commit. This is the only way for us both to win." Kylie's hands trembled as she stood up. "But why?" "My father's will. It's a long story, but the short version is that for me to inherit my entire fortune, I have to marry Sabrina. If I don't, the company and everything in it goes to my uncle, Martin." "Martin has been the CEO of the company for twenty years. He's grown accustomed to the power, the money, the control. If I marry Sabrina, he'll be forced to step down. And he doesn't want that. He's been trying to eliminate me for years, but he's always failed," he continued, a cold rage in his eyes. "I guess my fiancée was easier to kill to stop the marriage. I can't let my father's legacy fall into my uncle's hands. Sabrina was my future," Liam explained. "You're really asking me to impersonate your fiancée? How do you think she would feel?" "Truthfully, I don't care about how she would feel. This is about me." "Then I'll be discarded later on, just like how she was,” Kylie said, fear creeping into her voice. "Who said you would be discarded? Sabrina was just unfortunate. This is a rare opportunity to live the rest of your life in riches. Forever," Liam said, and Kylie's eyes widened. She had thought the arrangement would be for a short period and then she would be sent back to her old life, but forever? It made her think twice. Will she be out of prison and even become the wife of a rich billionaire heir? "This is the best opportunity anybody can offer you," he added. "I'll have to think about all of this privately. I can't just agree without giving it deep thought," Kylie said. "This is something you have to make a decision about immediately. The moment I leave this place without an answer, the offer is forever gone. I'll count my loss." "But... this is an important issue I can't just rush into. I have a life to consider, too," she protested. "A life? If the poverty you are in right now is what you call a life, then maybe you impersonating my fiancée would be an insult to her." Liam stood up, his jaw clenched, and walked toward the door. "Wait!" Kylie screamed, her voice raw with desperation. Liam stopped and slowly turned back. "I'll do it," Kylie said, the words tumbling out in a rush. Life has always been a struggle, a series of hardships and disappointments. Maybe this was the universe's way of finally throwing her a lifeline, a chance to escape her suffering. She had nothing to lose, after all. "I'll become Sabrina." Liam's assistant, the man from earlier in a crisp suit, entered the room, holding two pieces of paper. Liam took one and extended it to Kylie. "Sign this," he said, his voice a low command. Kylie's hand trembled as she took the paper and a pen. "What is this?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper. "It's a contract," Liam said. "The proof that you agreed to be Sabrina and marry me this Saturday. For two years,no strings attached" Kylie's eyes widened. "A contract marriage?" "Yes, a contract marriage or what do you think it would be?." Kylie looked from Liam to the contract, her mind reeling. He wasn't just saving her; he wanted to use her to secure his fortune. Liam watched her in pride, knowing fully well that she saw him as her savior and would have no other option than to sign the contract, while Kylie felt pitiful and helpless, trapped in a situation she couldn't escape. Her life had been a series of hardships, and now she was about to be tied to a man she didn't know, to live a life that wasn't hers. It was a terrifying prospect, but the alternative—a life behind bars—was even more so. "Two years?" she asked again, her voice shaking. "Two years," Liam confirmed. "And after that, you'll be set for life. You'll have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your days. All you have to do is be my wife for two years." Kylie looked at the contract one last time, a life of riches in her grasp, a life of poverty and imprisonment behind her. She took a deep breath, and with a trembling hand, she signed her name.
