Dear Reader,Before you turn the first page, I want to ask you a question.Have you ever made a promise you believed would last forever? The kind of promise whispered beneath a sunset... sealed with a smile... and made with a heart too young to imagine how much life could change.Bound by Promise is the story of two girls who found each other when they needed a friend the most. Together, they dreamed, laughed, cried, and created a bucket list filled with hopes for the future. They believed nothing—not distance, fear, or time—could ever separate them. But life has a way of testing even the strongest promises. As old wounds reopen, hidden truths come to light, and dangerous enemies emerge from the shadows, Zara and Noelle will discover that loyalty isn't just about staying together during the happy moments. It's about choosing each other when everything else is falling apart. This story is about friendship that refuses to break, courage that grows through pain, and love that changes lives in unexpected ways. So, as you begin this journey into the world of Velmora, I hope you'll laugh with these characters, cry with them, celebrate their victories, and remember that sometimes the most powerful promise is simply choosing to stay.Welcome to Bound by Promise.I hope you'll treasure every page.— Miraé

Bound By Promise Part One: The Promise
CHAPTER TWO A Promise Beneath the Stars "Some friendships don't happen by chance—they begin with a promise." The following afternoon, Moonlight Park felt brighter than ever. The warm sunlight filtered through the leaves, painting dancing shadows across the playground. Birds chirped from the branches above while children raced around the swings, laughing without a care in the world. Zara arrived first. She clutched her little notebook tightly against her chest, glancing around every few seconds. "What if she doesn't come?" she whispered. A small breeze lifted a strand of her hair, and she looked toward the path where they had said goodbye the evening before. Then she saw her. Noelle. She was running as fast as her little legs could carry her, holding her teddy bear under one arm. "Zara!" she called happily. Zara's face lit up with the brightest smile. "You came!" "I told my mum all about you," Noelle said, slightly out of breath. "She said she's happy I made a new friend." "My grandma said the same thing," Zara replied with a grin. Without another word, the girls laughed and hugged each other. It felt as though they had been friends for years instead of just one day. They spent the afternoon exploring every corner of Moonlight Park. They raced to the tallest slide. They counted butterflies resting on flowers. They watched ducks swim across the small pond. They even made funny shapes out of the clouds drifting across the blue sky. By evening, both girls were sitting beneath the old oak tree, sharing biscuits and orange juice. Zara carefully opened her notebook. "I've been thinking," she said. Noelle tilted her head. "About what?" "A bucket list." "A what?" "A list of dreams." Noelle's eyes sparkled. "What kind of dreams?" "The things we want to do together before we grow up." She turned the notebook around and showed Noelle the empty page. Across the top, written in careful handwriting, were the words: OUR BUCKET LIST Noelle smiled so widely that Zara couldn't help smiling too. "Can I help?" "Of course." Zara handed her the pencil. Noelle thought for a moment before writing the very first dream. Watch the sunrise together. Zara laughed softly. "I've never seen the sunrise before." "Neither have I." "Then it's perfect." They continued writing. •Dance in the rain. •Ride a Ferris wheel. •Have a sleepover. •Visit another country. •Bake a cake together. •Dance in the rain, with any friends in the future. •Have a picnic under the stars. •Ride a Ferris wheel with people we love. ‎•Bake a cake together for each other birthdays. ‎•Visit another country. ‎•Learn a new language. ‎•Plant a friendship tree. ‎•Watch fireworks together. ‎•Write letters to our future selves. ‎•Never miss each other's birthdays. ‎•Keep a Time capsule. Zara looked into the book and turned to Noelle and said... some things are being repeated then Noelle smiled and said... "that's because I'm also thinking about the future" Zara said with a smile okay then, when we have more things to add we'll add more. Both girls had fun with each other. Every new dream made them giggle with excitement. "It feels like our future is waiting for us," Noelle whispered. Zara nodded. "And we'll do every single one." The sun slowly disappeared behind the trees, turning the sky shades of orange and purple. Noelle looked at the list again. "What if... one day we argue?" "We'll make up." "What if someone tries to separate us?" "We won't let them." "What if life changes?" Zara closed the notebook and held out her little finger. "Then let's promise again." Noelle smiled and linked her little finger with Zara's. "No matter what happens..." "We'll always find our way back to each other." Their tiny hands stayed linked for a few more seconds. "Let's make a best friend motto that only the two of us know," Noelle said. "I love that idea," Zara replied with a smile. "I was thinking the same thing." The two girls looked up at the sky as if they could find the perfect motto hidden among the clouds. Then Zara smiled. "Our motto will be..." 'Through thick and thin, our hearts and minds stay together. Our bond is strong and inseparable.' Noelle's eyes sparkled. "That's beautiful," she whispered. "Let's make a special gesture whenever we say it." "What kind of gesture?" Zara asked. Noelle smiled. "We'll hold each other's hand with one hand, our fingers interlocked, and place our other hand over our hearts." Zara laughed softly. "That's perfect. It'll be our little secret." The girls smiled warmly at each other. "Before we go," Zara said excitedly, "let's play one more game of hide-and-seek!" "Okay!" Noelle laughed. The two girls spent the next hour playing hide-and-seek, tag, and many other games, filling Moonlight Park with laughter. When they finally grew tired, Zara took out their bucket list notebook. "Let's decorate it," she suggested. Together they covered the notebook with little drawings, flowers, stars, hearts, and colorful borders. They left plenty of empty pages for all the dreams they would add in the future. When they finished, they opened the notebook one last time. Standing side by side, they intertwined one hand while placing their free hands over their hearts. They looked into each other's eyes and smiled. Their promise felt stronger than ever. As they walked toward the park gate, they turned back one last time. The old swing swayed gently in the evening breeze. Waiting. Just as it had waited for them. And just as it would continue to wait... Until the day they returned again. Neither girl knew those simple promises would one day become the hardest promises they would ever have to keep. A cool evening breeze swept through Moonlight Park. The notebook fluttered open by itself. Neither of them noticed. On the last blank page, the wind gently turned the paper over and over until it finally settled. The page remained empty. As though it were quietly waiting for all the adventures—and heartbreaks—that were still to come.
