His Return
Elijah Faulkner
What was I thinking?
I only went to this pub because Vic invited me. If not for that stupid favor, I would've not come. Out of kindness, I will endure this night.
Breathe in, Elijah.
One hour only. I will stay for an hour and then leave.
"Eli, it's good to see you here." Vic greeted me enthusiastically. A beautiful woman is clinging on his arm. He doesn't seem annoyed by her, infact he seems to be enjoying it. While for me, it's an eye sore.
"Vic, I see you're still a man whore." I said without any enthusiasm.
Vic only laughed on my comment. If anything, he find it amusing. He likes his own title, 'the bastard prince'. I don't even understand why he likes it. It's a total bullcrap.
"Eli, my man, you have to enjoy your youth. Eli, you're turning 30. You're running out of time being serious. So be a bastard sometimes, or you'll never experience the fun part of your youth." Vic said.
The f**k is he talking about? I'm 24 years old. It's not like I've never dated anyone. I'm picky when it comes to dating.
"If you're gonna give me an advice, make sure it's not useless." I replied. I glanced at the woman beside him. She seems to notice my curiosity, as she smiled and extended her hand for a shake.
"Amanda, Victor's escort." She said.
She seems different from the other girls that Vic dated. Unlike the other's, Vic seems a little possessive of her.
"Elijah." I said and accepted her hand. "Amanda, a piece of an advice. Vic here doesn't give a damn about everything. So it's better if you don't get too attached to him. Emotionally."
Vic's brows furrowed. His hands held her waist and pulled her closer. "f**k you, Eli."
I chuckled. Seems like the bastard prince found his match.
"Don't worry, Mr. Faulkner. I'm not any other women, and I believe I can handle him well." Vic and Amanda left afterwards.
An hour has passed and I'm getting bored. The auction is about to start, and i don't really want to join. I'd rather go home.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our most treasured singer, Sera!"
I took a quick glance on the stage. A young woman in her early 20's stepped into the mini stage. She look so familiar to me. As she turned to face the crowd, I froze.
Alexa...
She changed so much. She became even more stunning and gorgeous. I had a crush on her on my highschool and college days. We've been together for so long. But she only saw me as a friend. One day she just vanished.
I was mad at her. How could she leave me so easily and never call or text? For so long, I was upset. It's insane. It's stupid. I actually still love her.
Her once straight jet-black hair, now became curly and more vibrant. Her amber eyes are still alluring. Her nose, lips and chin are perfectly carved as if she's God's masterpiece. She lost some weight, but still her body is strikingly sexy. She's perfect.
She held the microphone and started singing.
I had a dream,
I got everything I wanted,
Not what you'd think,
And if I'm being honest,
It might've been a nightmare
To anyone who might care
I watched her sing as if being mesmerized. Her voice sounds so sad and yet so soothing. I know I'm not the only one who's bewitched. Everyone is watching her, amazed. And if she's part of the auction, everyone will bid.
And you say "as long as I'm here
No one can hurt you,
Don't wanna lie here,
But you can learn to,
If I could change,
The way that you see yourself,
You wouldn't wonder why you hear,
They don't deserve you"
I clenched my fist. If anyone here gets to have a date with her, that would be me. I'm not letting any of these pervert to win her. And I think it's about time that I fix our friendship.
If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head,
What would they say instead?
If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head,
What would they say instead?
She finished singing and opened her eyes. Everyone was silent for a moment, clearly amazed. It was like a huge spell was lifted on the air and everyone started clapping.
She bowed down courtly, and then took a few steps back.
"Our auction is about to start and the first on the list is the pretty lady beside me. That's right everyone, Sera, our most treasured singer is our first lot."
Everyone seems interested on buying her. That pissed me off. From 100 thousand dollar to 500 thousand. It keeps getting higher. I've had enough. I will not let her date any of them.
"1 million" I said as I raised my number. Everyone went silent. They turned their heads to me. Their eyes widened for a moment.
If they would dare bid against me, I'm willing to spend 10 or 100 million. Just to get her.
"1 million to number 53, going once, going twice, sold!"
I didn't bother waiting for it to finish. I asked my personal assistant to take Alexa to my building. A table is already prepared for our dinner. I asked Trisha to set everything.
I stood close to the window and watched the scenery. She hasn't arrived. For the first time in a very long time, I felt nervous.
I was starting to get impatient. It's been thirty minutes and Alexa hasn't arrived yet. Maybe she didn't wanted to come here. Maybe she ditched my assistant.
I'm starting to get tired, but just as I was about to leave I heard the door opened. Sounds of heels echoed in the room. I felt a little nervous. When the heels stopped close to me, I turned to face her.
She's stunning. But her expression doesn't seem pleasant. As soon as she saw my face, she paled. Shock and confused is written on her face. I knew she didn't want to see me. But, it felt ten times worse than imagining her displeased face.
"Y-you?!" She asked.
"Hello, Alexa. It's been a while." I said and I watched her expression soured.
For a moment, I thought she would run away from me. I was surprised to see her sit down. Defiantly. I remained impassive as I sat down across her.
Why is she displeased to see me, when I should be the one who should be upset? She left me when she knew I needed her. She broke her promise.
I'm getting whipped by her. I can't believe I still have feelings for her after three years. She's too captivating, too gorgeous, I'm out of word. But, she hates me. Now, I wonder what did I do to deserve such hatred.
"Eli, why did you bid for me?" She asked.
"Would you rather date someone else? Do you really hate me so much that you'd condemn my presence?"
She bit her lower lip and avoided my gaze. All of the sudden, all those displeasure turned into guilt.
"Eli, listen, what happened three years ago—"
"It's nothing." I didn't wanna hear that. It upsets me that she left.
"You and I..." I looked into her eyes with rage. I don't want to make her leave again, but I just couldn't erase the rage inside me. "are nothing really special. You mean nothing to me. We were nothing." I said.
She was surprised. She looked hurt. I was somewhat pleased to see her hurt, but also felt bad.
"Eli, That's not true, you know how much I care for you." She said. Her voice were shaking and it was barely audible.
"You care for me? Then prove it?" I stood up from my seat and walked behind her. She watched my every move, confused.
I moved closer to her ear as I whispered "If you want me to forgive you, then don't push me away. Don't stop me."
Don't stop me.
Chapter 1 End.
