I stood there just staring at him, or rather, staring past him at this point in complete and utter shock, trying to process what the intruder that was now standing in front of me with his hands exploring the curves of my body, studying my face, I didn't grasp what he was saying to me, as my breath caught in my throat before the realization of, his words hit me full force and a sob barely escaped my lips as tears began to run down my face my body trembling where I stood my legs feeling like they were going to give out any second.
He looked down at me and kind of let out an annoyed huff before he spoke, "What are you crying about? Don't you understand this is the best thing that could happen for you at this point? Believe me." He softly trailed off as if he wanted to say more but changed his mind. As I stood sobbing hand gripping my towel as tight as I could my knuckles were turning white, he turned away from me as he walked over to the window.
"It would be a good idea if you got dressed now before you catch a cold." He stood with his back to me as I started to get dressed. I heard footsteps coming down the hall. I started to panic. What would he have done if my mom had opened the door? Would he harm her? Me?
I quickly turned to the window to find him gone as my mom knocked on the door.
"Jade? Are you ok? You have been up here awhile." She sounded worried.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Mom. I was in the shower. Sorry for taking so long." I hoped my explanation was good enough and she would leave before he decided to return.
"Ok darling, well, your breakfast is almost done, so please hurry so you can eat." I heard her shift a little before finally taking the hint and walking back downstairs.
I finally let out the breath I did not realize I was holding.
"Your mother sure is a nosey sort, hm?" I let out a slight scream as I jumped at his sudden presence turning to face him clutching my chest.
"You can't do that to me!" I breathed before calming myself. He smirked, amused and pleased with himself. I shot him a look before walking over to my dresser, grabbing some socks, and tossing them on the bed.
"Mmm, but there you are wrong, kitten. I can do as I please when I please, as I own you." He looked to me with a side glance, a smug look across his face. He was enjoying this maybe a little too much.
Once I finished dressing, he turned to face me, "Well, kitten, I must be off for the time being. I will be back in due time to collect you in the meantime please be aware I know what you're doing when you're doing it and whom with so I would keep in mind if you don't want people you care about to die then behave yourself and do not mention me to anyone."
He walked towards me and I took a slight step back as he closed the space between us rather fast as I was pressed against the wall trembling slightly still unable to believe he was real he leaned down inches from my face, his lips hovering above mine before he pulled away and kissed my forehead before moving to the window.
"I shall see you later, kitten." And with that, he was gone.
As I stood there dumbfounded, my face felt like it was on fire. Did that just happen? Was he about to kiss me? Why me though?
My thoughts raced as I slowly made my way downstairs to the kitchen as I sat at the table, I kind of looked over myself, I wasn't bad looking, but I wasn't the prettiest girl either well at least to myself anyhow, I was about 5'4 athletic build long black hair about to my hips I have full lips and soft complexion acne never really was a problem for me I have a more mature body for my age I am not lacking that's for sure honestly most days I hate it all the staring and comments it's disgusting I also have a rare condition that changed the pigment in my eyes to a violet purple color that has different shades of purple flowing through them makes me unique I guess.
As I was lost in my thoughts, my mom set my breakfast in front of me, trying to get my attention.
"Jade? Hello, earth to jade?"
I shook my head and looked at her. "Hmm? Oh, thanks Mom."
She looked at me, concern written all over her face. "Jade, are you sure you're ok? You have been acting weird since you came home."
I sighed annoyed and before I realized the words had left my mouth, I lashed out at her, "Gee mom I wonder why, I just got home from being gone for 3 days and not even knowing what happened to me or how I even disappeared for crying out loud! Then every time I turn around, I am bombarded with questions like a 3rd f*cking degree is not what I need right now ok? Please just leave me the hell alone!"
I looked over to my mother before immediately regretting my words as I saw the tears in her eyes as she nodded and left the kitchen I sighed and put my hand on my forehead and thought to myself, 'Way to go Jade, you made her cry... she's just worried about you.'
I looked down at the food in front of me my appetite nowhere to be found as I grabbed the toast and put the rest of the food in the fridge knowing my dad would eat it when he finally made it home to change for work since he stayed the night with his wh*re yet again.
I feel so bad for exploding on my mom she is already dealing with so much, and I do not need to add to it as I walked to the front door, I looked into the living room and noticed my mother lying on the couch, softly crying to herself as I looked down and walked out the door.
As I walked to school, I took a bite from my toast and almost immediately spit it out feeling sick to my stomach. What was happening to me? I tried to shrug it off as nothing more than nerves from the eventful morning I had. I sighed and tossed the toast, dreading the day my school was not too far of a walk from home, and I did not mind the fresh air and the time alone.
As I walked I put my earbuds into my ears and turned on music off my phone trying to destress even a bit before getting to school, lost in my head I didn't even notice my best friend standing in front of me hands on her hips staring me down as if I had just kicked her dog I almost ran smack dab into her before noticing her I jumped startled and screamed slightly.
"Geez! What is with everyone giving me heart attacks today?" I patted my chest, trying to get my heart to settle down before realizing something was off. Before I could dig into it, Carrie snapped her fingers at me, getting my attention.
"Uh, hello!? Where the hell have you been? You tell me you will call me when you get home and then I don't hear from you or see you for 3 days!? I called your house, and your mom said you were sick, but when I went to stop by with your homework, there were cops at your house! So, care to explain what the f*ck is going on?" she crossed her arms over her chest staring at me waiting for an answer I get why she is upset Carrie has been my best friend ever since we were kids. She lives a few blocks over from me towards the school ever since we met in pre k we have been inseparable.
"Carri..." I started to say before she cut me off.
"Don't you Carri me, Jade Sierra, you owe me an explanation!" I flinched as she was all but screaming now drawing much-unwanted attention as if we were having a lover's spat.
"Look, you're right. I do owe you an explanation, and you will get it, but can you please calm down and stop drawing so much attention to us, hm?" I looked at her, my eyes pleading with her to calm down. She huffed and finally gave in.
"Fine, BUT we are talking after school today, got it?" I nodded as she took my arm in hers and led me toward the school. I smiled a bit as we walked.
As we entered the school, I got a lot of looks from people as apparently, my disappearance caused quite a stir in school people were whispering among one another as if I was the town's biggest secret came to light, we stopped at Carrie's locker so she could grab her books for the first two classes before we made our way to our homeroom, Carrie, of course, went in first in her normal happy-go-lucky self, saying hi to everyone and chatting away I started to walk to my desk as Mrs. Simon turned around seeing me standing there she took a step back obviously shocked.
"Jade, whe...ho..." She stumbled over her words, clearly unsure of what to say. I just kind of awkwardly smiled at her and rubbed the back of my head.
"Yeah, sorry about being gone so suddenly, Mrs. Simon. Not much I can really say on the subject, but I'm back."
She looked at me as if she had seen a ghost but managed to find her words even slightly. "W...well, I'm glad to see you back and safe. Please have a seat, and I will need you to see me after class for the assignments you missed."
I nodded as I made my way to my desk before plopping my bag on the floor under my desk, I reached down to get my things out of my bag as I suddenly stopped as the thumping that happened last night on my way home had returned unsure why this was happening the images of what happened after the last time started popping into my head.
'No...no...no, this can't be happening, not here, please.'
The thumping was growing louder by the second I looked at my classmate Jordan. I could see the vein in his neck. Suddenly, my throat started burning like hellfire, and it felt as if I was dehydrated and dying of thirst.
"Mrs. Simon, I need to go to the nurse now. I don't feel too good." I quickly said, grabbing my bag and running out of the room before she had a chance to say anything. She looked after me and then at Carrie as she got up to head after me.
"I'll go make sure she's ok." Mrs. Simon just nodded blankly as Carrie left the room after me.
'Why is this happening to me!?' I thought to myself as I quickly walked down the hall. The sound of all the heartbeats in the school was driving me insane, and I felt if I did not get out, I was going to do something awful. I ran out the side door to the patio area where the picnic tables were breathing hard, I sat on one of the farthest tables I could get away from the school.
"Rough day?" his voice jolted me as I threw my head up to look at him.
"What the hell is happening to me!?" I was nearly shouting as he lifted his finger to his lips.
"Hush, now you don't want to draw attention, do you?"
I looked around at the windows of the classes closest to the courtyard getting a few stares here and there and some teachers closing blinds as I looked back to him.
"We need to talk. I don't know what is going on and it's terrifying me." He nodded as he hopped off the table and took my arm walking me towards the parking lot.
"Get in," He said pointing to a very expensive-looking sports car.
'Way to be subtle.' I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes slightly and opened the passenger side door, and got in. Before I had time to even fully buckle in, we were off, leaving my best friend standing at the edge of the parking lot staring after us.
As we drove my thoughts were running wild before long, I couldn't take it anymore as I looked at him. "Can you tell me what the hell is going on and what is happening to me?"
He looked over at me slightly before answering. " Well, kitten, you have been marked. As such you now carry my sent to let others know you belong to me." I looked at him as if he had lost his marbles.
"That's not what I'm talking about!" I shouted at him, he raised a brow looking at me.
"OK, then what are you talking about?"
I sighed before taking a deep breath. " When I was sitting in class, I started having this painfully loud thumping in my ears, and I could literally see the veins in my classmate's neck...and then I had this sudden burning sensation in my throat as if I was dying of thirst and I was afraid I was going to hurt him."
He looked over to me as he spoke, " Yes, you are what we call a temporary hybrid meaning since you bear my mark you also gain some of my powers through my venom and part of that is also temporarily being a vampire yourself while still maintaining your human side meaning you need to feed and I'm assuming you haven't fed since last night correct?"
I sat back in the seat, my thoughts racing. "So you're saying I'm the reason those people died last night? I killed them...I'm a murderer."
He shook his head slightly. "No, kitten, not a murderer. You don't have control over your instincts yet, and since you had just awakened, your first instinct was to feed. When you came across those two in the park, it can be overwhelming until you get it under control, and if you had listened to me and stayed put, that wouldn't have happened."
I furrowed my brow a bit. "Wait, you mean I was with you last night?"
"Yes, I bought you last night from the auction house before you went up for bid to the public." His words trailed off slightly again I sensed he wanted to say something else but decided not to.
"How did I end up at an auction house first off?"
He looked over to me and hesitated before speaking. "Believe me, kitten, you do not want the answer to that...at least not yet."
"I have a right to know...you know now that I think about it, I still don't know your name."
"It's Cazion, Caz for short." His name replayed in my head as I said it to myself repeatedly. I looked out the window as we drove, I had not realized we had left town and were on a road, I hadn't ever been on before.
"Where are we going?" I asked absently not even bothering to look at him.
"I'm getting you away for a while, someplace safe for you to feed and regain yourself. This is why I told you this morning I would be back to collect you because I knew this was going to happen eventually, but I didn't think it would be this soon after you fed last night." His words caught my attention, and I turned to look at him.
"What do you mean? None of this makes sense to me."
"You shouldn't need to feed again this soon since you're only a temporary hybrid." He said with a slight look of worry across his beautiful features I never really noticed before how beautiful he was. He happened to catch me staring as she smirked some.
"Enjoying the view?"
My face went bright red before I turned away. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
He chuckled. After a while, I fell asleep not realizing how tired I was by the time I awoke I wasn't sure how long I had slept or where I even was I sat up, looking around a dimly lit room before noticing I was in a bed as I moved to the edge of the bed a door across the room opened as steam came rolling out Caz stepped out in nothing more than a pair of sweatpants and was drying his hair as he looked over noticing me awake.
"Ah, you're awake. Did you sleep well?" I nodded softly looking around.
"Y... Yea, I did, but where are we?"
He placed the towel on a hook on the door as he walked over towards me I watched him as he moved his body was something to marvel at he looked as if someone had carved him out of stone and given him life his body was perfectly toned and slightly muscular but not overly so the definition clear but soft and subtle his skin was perfectly smooth he looked at me raising a brow as he waved his hand in front of my face.
"Huh, what?"
He chuckled, " I said we are at my home. Well, you home now as well, you ok?"
There was a smile on his face, knowing that I had gotten lost looking at him. As my face went bright red, I looked away slightly. "How is this my home? I have a home."
He sat on the side of the bed in front of me as he lifted my chin to look at him. "Not anymore. You belong to me, and you will reside in my home with me. I've already had your things fetched and put away. I also stocked your closet with new clothes as well as your own from your room as I figured it would help you adjust to being here."
I blushed more looking at him. "T...that's very kind of you."
He nodded softly as he spoke once more. " just because I own you doesn't mean I don't want you to be comfortable with me I want you to be happy and enjoy your life with me also that being said," He cleared his throat, " I will have to claim you sometime soon to complete the process." He looked at me with a side glance waiting for my reaction.
"What do you mean 'claim' me?" I questioned, narrowing my eyes slightly. He chuckled some as he stood up.
"I guess you will find out soon, won't you?" he walked to the door and stopped to look at me before he opened it "I would advise getting a shower and dressing in the clothing I laid out for you before dinner" with that he left me with nothing more than those words.
