Sahara had been in a relationship with Leonard for good seven years. She thought she knew everything about him. However, when she received the news that he was married, it was like the floor had fallen beneath her feet.
She sat looking dumb stroked, as she watched Leonard walk away without hesitation.
Her eyes became watery, her heart felt heavy at the same time. She couldn’t help the thoughts strolling through her mind.
She stood up from the table where she sat and walked straight to the bar tender. The barman had been staring at her for some time.
“I need four rounds of shorts” she said, looking pale and tired already, the black eye liner was already finding its way through her chicks through the hot tears that escaped from her eyes.
The weight of the news was too heavy for her heart. She never saw this coming; it was the exact opposite of what she expected from the night.
She couldn’t believe Leonard could hide such a huge secret for years from her. Questions raced through her mind at a million miles per hour. How could he do this to her.? Did he really love her as much as he said and she thought he did?
“Are you ok” a strange voice asked from behind, taking her out from her thoughts. “Can I join you” he asked and drew closer to her to seat. “Yes, you can” she said reluctantly. He sat smiling, looking at her like he was concerned before speaking. “Why not join me in the lounge so we could talk better and more comfortably. I have been watching you sob alone, where I come from. It's bad for a pretty angel to sit and sob in public. Permit me to give you my shoulders to cry on”.
he said, swaying his head and smiling like he was trying to make her cheer up.
She looked up staring at him, while he threw out his hand to help her seat. So, they could go to the lounge.
The bar man stood there looking surprised and shocked at the same time, Mr. Aleck never walked up to any woman. He simply sent his guard to get them for him whenever he wanted. Something felt different about Sahara.
While walking away, he ordered the bar man to bring in more liquor and champagne to the lounge.
Aleck was a young, ambitious man with striking good looks that set him apart in any crowd.
His chiseled jawline and piercing eyes drew people’s attention, while his well-groomed hair framed his face perfectly. His demeanor excluded confidence and determination, a reflection of his strong ambition.
Aleck's charismatic smile could light up a room, making him not only a handsome figure, but also some who inspired others with his presence.
Sahara sat down on the sofa, and Aleck sat close, admiring how beautiful and attractive she looked from her face down to her body.
Finally, he broke the silence. “life isn’t what we always expect it to be, but we can make it work for us. Most times it works with how desperate we are to achieve what we crave for.”
He paused for a while and continued “let me guess, you’re shocked and bitter because he left?”
For a moment she stopped thinking and turned in his direction “How long have you been staring at me again?
He smiled as a response.
The waiter walked in with the order he had requested earlier, dropped it and walked out quietly.
Sahara reached out for some shots and finished up in one gulp, thinking it would calm her nerves. From her facial expression one could tell the substance was really hot in her throat.
She took another and topped it immediately. Aleck didn’t stop her because he could tell she was really hurting.
“Would you like to talk about it? He asked calmly, looking more serious this time.
“i don’t even know you” she said, already feeling tipsy as she went in for another shot.
“you don’t know me yet and you agreed to come to a closed space.sssss and mind you I ordered the drinks” he said smiling sheepishly this time.
She kept mute for a while and began to sob again “ he didn’t only leave me, he hurt me! Id everything for him, I never made him feel like he was useless. Not knowing he was only deceiving me. he was using me all this while, he lied to love me, and made all sought of fake promises that never existed .
I kept all hope alive, that he was going to make it very soon, not knowing he had a mission he was working on.”
She said crying out loud and intensely this time.
Aleck didn’t stop her, because he felt she need to let it all out at this point.
Chloe couldn’t get a grip of her self as she panicked,it was already getting late and Sahara haven't called her to tell her any news about how the date went, and wasn’t back home yet .
She never kept late night and if she wasn’t going to return home early anytime she stayed at her place she always called early to inform her.
But this felt really weird, as this was unlike her cousin.
She looked at the time and it was already past twelve “or did they go over to her place? She asked rhetorically.
But why are they not picking up neither are they returning my calls.
She kept on calling Sahara's phone but it kept on directing her to the voicemail she grabbed her car keys and dashed out to look for her cousin.
She drove downtown to her cousins apartment to check if she eventually went home.
She turned on her touch to see if she could find anything. But all she saw
was traces of blood that lead from the entrance to an unknown
destination. the the front door was ajar with no explanation as to how it
had swung open and unknown presence had entered the house , and
the residents were oblivious to the imminent threat that loomed in the
shadows .
