AUTHOR’S NOTE
This story is told entirely from the perspective of Kian, a young man navigating trauma, obsession, and the fragile journey toward trust and love. NO SAFE DISTANCE explores the psychological realities of human attachment, emotional dependency, and healing. Including moments of intense intimacy, both emotional and physical.
The events depicted are fictional, but the emotional experiences are grounded in real psychological research. Kian’s trauma, panic, and hypervigilance are informed by clinical descriptions of PTSD and attachment theory (American Psychiatric Association, DSM-5; Bowlby, 1969). The caregiving dynamics between Kian and Aou are also informed by mental health principles on trust, boundaries, and relational recovery.
The novel is set primarily in Thailand, reflecting both the cultural norms of family, respect, and emotional restraint, and the challenges of adapting to new environments. While Aou is Thai, Kian’s background includes time in the United States, providing contrast and perspective on both trauma and recovery.
This story contains:
- Depictions of trauma and mental health struggles
- Emotional obsession, dependency, and psychological tension
- Explicit intimate scenes handled with care (authored by Nimè)
- Cultural and environmental grounding to enhance realism
Readers are encouraged to engage with the story thoughtfully, recognizing that it portrays a slow, sometimes raw process of healing. It is intended for mature audiences and explores themes that may be emotionally intense.
