Bound and Fated

Bella’s POV My sound sleep was disrupted by the sound of a heavy banging of something, not even my alarm. What the heck? I groaned and sluggishly opened my eyes. Oh my God!! It was Haven- my younger brother He was intentionally using a stick or whatever the heck he is using to hit the floor of my room from downstairs. “Haven, stop it!” I snapped, my voice hoarse from sleep. “Don’t make me come down there!” He let out a cackling laugh. “You wish! Do you even know what time it is? You’re gonna be late for your first day at the new school. Damn it! Immediately I heard resumption, I remembered what today is exactly. I hastily sat up and got down from my bed to check my luggages. Lo and behold, mum has already helped to rearrange everything properly. I guessed she did that after I fell asleep last night while I was packing. My face beamed with pride and radiated with smiles for having a loving mother. “Big head”. I heard his voice again downstairs, then his retreating footsteps followed. “Thank you. Even though you are still annoying sometimes”. I hollered out to him. Then, I heard a faint reply “You are not welcome”. I rolled my eyes and quickly rushed to the bathroom to take my bath and then dressed up. After a quick shower, I stood in front of the mirror, brushing my long black hair. My piercing blue eyes stared back at me. People always said they were unnerving, too intense. Maybe because they were the eyes of a witch. My name is Bella Adams. I’m eighteen, light-skinned, and taller than most girls my age. My parents are rich in their own way. I have a younger brother, whose name is Adams Haven. Up until recently, I lived a normal life with my family in Georgia. But after my strange abilities surfaced, we had no choice but to relocate to Texas. I could read minds. Worse, I could cause misfortune sometimes, even injuries without lifting a finger. My parents did everything they could to understand my abilities. After so many secret inquiries, my parents later found out the kind of school my former principal told them about. The name of the school is Special Ones Boarding School and it's hidden from the world. A place for people like me. And unfortunately for me, I am becoming a boarder in this school. I walked slowly down the stairs to the dining and met mum, dad, and Haven. Seated at the dining table, but obviously waiting for me. “Good morning, dad. Good morning, mum”. I greeted politely as I sat beside Haven. “Good morning, dear can't believe you woke up late”.Mum exclaimed and started dishing out our breakfast meals. I think that's her reply to my greeting anyway. The meals are scrambled eggs,toast bread and tea. “Morning, sweetheart,” Dad replied and smiled at me. Mom placed a plate of scrambled eggs and toast bread in front of me. “Can’t believe you overslept on such an important day.” I gave Haven a pointed glare. “Maybe if someone didn’t wake me up in the most annoying way possible.” Haven stuck out his tongue at me. "You better thank me for waking you up on time". He said jokingly. I gave him an appreciative smile and sigh softy. I have a long day ahead of me today. * * The drive to the school was uneventful, until we arrived at the school premises The sight took my breath away. I didn't know when I let out the word "wow" with my eyes as wide as saucer. The campus looked like something out of a fantasy novel. Perfectly paved roads, trimmed hedges, and vibrant flowers lined the pathways leading to a grand, multi-story building painted in white and blue. Was this really my new school? Unbelievable! We parked in front of the main building called the Administration Building, and I followed my parents inside, where we were ushered into the principal’s office. My parents and I went into the principal's office and met a middle-aged man behind an expensive polished desk, with a silver -lining glass resting on the bridge of his nose. He looked up at us through the glass. “ Good day, I am Mr. Adams, and I am here for the registration of my daughter”. Dad said politely. “ Oh, please take a seat”.The man replied briskly, and mum, dad, and I sat in front of him. Then he brought out a form and started scribbling down on it. Once we were seated, he pulled out a form. “What’s your name, Miss?” “Bella Adams.” I answered. His gaze flicked to me over his glasses. “I was informed you have the ability to read minds and cause misfortune and injury to others by non-physical and uncanny influence .” I stiffened. Who told him that? He scribbled down notes, then handed me the form to complete the remaining details. I filled it in quickly and returned it. With a warm smile, he said, “Welcome to Special Ones Boarding School, Miss Adams. You will be taken to your room in Apartment 6, Room 23. Phones are not allowed. And one last thing…” His expression turned serious. “Stay out of trouble.” I nodded. “Understood”. “Thank you, sir”. I said gently. “Thank you so much, sir”. My parents said in unison. “Hold on, " the man said and reached for his telephone. He requested for the presence of someone and in less than a few seconds. The person showed up, a young girl .Take her to her room, room 23, apartment 6”. He instructed the girl. Then we left. Phew at last! After the girl assigned to take me to my room was done with me, I came back to get my things from the car. Because of the school damn rules again,my parents couldn't help me carry my belongings to the room. “ You will be fine, okay?” Dad said. “ Don't worry, we promise to come visit you at any slightest opportunity given”. Mom said, moved to my form and pecked my cheeks I sniffed and suddenly got moody. Dad moved closer to me and pecked my forehead, then hugged me. “We love you”. Mom whispered and hugged me too. “ I love you guys too. Extend my regards to Haven”. I replied and pulled away from the hug and walked away dragging my luggage with me.
