Emily's heart was racing as she tried to think of a way to escape. Sophia's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, and Emily knew that she was in grave danger.
Suddenly, Sophia's phone rang, breaking the tension. Sophia answered, listening for a moment before turning to Emily.
"Lex wants to see us," Sophia said, her voice dripping with malice. "It seems he's grown impatient."
Emily's blood ran cold. She knew that she was walking into a trap, but she had no choice. Sophia dragged her out of the apartment, tossing her into a waiting car.
As they drove to Lex's mansion, Emily's mind was racing. She knew that she had to think fast if she wanted to survive.
When they arrived at the mansion, Lex was waiting for them, a cruel smile spreading across his face.
"Welcome, Emily," Lex said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I see you've been playing with fire. You should have stayed out of this."
Emily stood tall, refusing to back down. "I'm not afraid of you, Lex," she said, her voice steady.
Lex laughed, the sound sending shivers down Emily's spine. "We'll see about that," he said, nodding to Sophia.
Sophia stepped forward, a gun glinting in her hand. Emily's heart skipped a beat as Sophia raised the gun, pointing it straight at her.
"You should have stayed out of this, Emily," Sophia said, her voice cold. "Now, you're going to pay the price."
As Sophia pulled the trigger, Emily closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable. But just as the gun fired, a loud crash echoed through the room, followed by the sound of shouting and scuffling.
Emily opened her eyes to see Lex's henchmen fighting with a group of unknown attackers. Sophia was nowhere to be seen, and Emily knew that this was her chance to escape.
With a surge of adrenaline, Emily sprinted out of the room, determined to make it out alive. But as she ran, she knew that she wasn't safe yet. Lex and Sophia would stop at nothing to silence her, and Emily knew that she had to keep running if she wanted to survive.
