Alessandro "Lex" DeMarco stood at the edge of the rooftop bar, gazing out over the glittering city skyline. His mind was a million miles away, lost in thoughts of the family business and the latest threat to their empire.
As he sipped his whiskey, a commotion at the entrance caught his attention. A young woman, her long blonde hair shining in the dim light, was arguing with the bouncer.
"I'm telling you, I'm on the list!" she exclaimed, her voice rising.
Lex raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the woman's spirit. He strode over to the entrance, his presence commanding attention.
"Is there a problem here?" he asked, his deep voice calm and authoritative.
The bouncer nodded, gesturing to the woman. "She's not on the list, boss."
Lex's eyes met the woman's, and he felt a jolt of surprise. She was even more beautiful up close, with piercing green eyes and a smattering of freckles across her cheeks.
"I think we can make an exception," Lex said, his voice low and smooth. "Let her in."
The bouncer nodded, stepping aside to allow the woman to enter. Lex watched as she smiled, her eyes sparkling with gratitude.
"Thank you," she said, her voice husky.
Lex nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "You're welcome," he said. "I'm Lex."
"Emily," she replied, her hand extending.
Lex took her hand, feeling a spark of electricity as their palms touched. He knew in that moment that he wanted to know more about Emily, to uncover the secrets behind her bright smile and sparkling eyes.
But as he looked into her eyes, he knew that he had to be careful. Emily was a distraction he couldn't afford, not with the FBI breathing down his neck and his family's empire at stake.
Yet, as he released her hand and smiled, Lex knew that he was already in trouble. He was drawn to Emily like a moth to flame, and he couldn't wait to see where this unexpected encounter would lead.
