Chapter 8

Trae woke me up kissing my eyelids. "Wake up sleeping beauty" he whispered. I opened my eyes smiling and kissed his lips. "Dinner is in about 45 minutes. Did you bring something nice to wear" he asked. "You guys dress up for dinner" I asked. "Only when we have company and you're company tonight" he said. "Good thing I know you're bougie and I figured I'd need an evening gown at some point" I laughed. "Good girl" he said picking at me. "What color are you wearing" he asked. "I'll make sure we match" he wiggled his eyebrows. "There's my cornball" I laughed. "I'm gonna wear red" I replied. "Oooh my sexy lady in red" he sang and we both laughed.

My gown was strapless and snug in the waist with a mermaid flare at the bottom that pooled at my feet. I put on my black Red Bottoms and the necklace Trae bought me. "Ready when you are bae" I said. He walked over to me and linked his arm with mine "shall we" he said. We walked together downstairs to the formal dining room and chose our places at the table. Tris walked in right about then and asked "damn bruh this your new lady"? "This is who I told you about. Lani this is my brother Tris, Tris this is my lady Lani" he said. "Nice to meet you Tris, I've heard so much about you" I said. "Nice to meet you too Lani, Trae hasn't stopped talking about you since his birthday party" he laughed. "Or really" I asked and winked at Trae. He just smiled in response. Tris was very handsome with those same green eyes that Trae and his mom have and beautiful teeth and lips. He was a little darker than Trae and a little shorter but you could definitely tell they were brothers. "You don't have any pretty friends" Tris asked. Oh my God! In all of the confusion of today's events I had completely forgotten to call Dee! "Bae I'll be right back I have to go grab my phone" I said. "No you sit here bae I'll run up and get it for you. I put it on the charger when Gary brought your things over from the guesthouse" he said. "Ok thank you" I replied. A few minutes later Trae came back to the dining room and handed me my phone. I swiped it open and saw I had several missed calls from Dee and several from a private number. I opened up my texts and jumped out of my seat. There was a video of Dee tied to a chair with a gag in her mouth. Kai then walked into view and said "b***h if you want your friend to live you'll call me back". Trae jumped up behind me as I ran out of the room to call Kai. "What's going on baby" he asked. I turned around with a look of horror on my face I'm sure, and showed him the video. "I have to call him back Trae" I said. I know baby, I know. Call him now" he said. I dialed Kai's number and waited while it rang. He didn't pick up. "Trae what am I gonna do" I asked. "I can't let him hurt Dee" I said tears rolling down my face. Just then the phone rang, it was a private number. "Hello" I answered. "Hello princess" Kai said from the other end of the line. "What do you want Kai? Please don't hurt Dee she's innocent in all of this" I begged. "I'm going to drop you my location princess" he said. "Come alone! If you bring that nigga she's dead! If you bring the police she's dead! Don't play no games with me princess"! He said in his disgusting voice. "Ok Kai I'm coming please don't hurt her. I'll do whatever you say " I said. "That's what I like to hear princess. You have one hour" he said and hung up the phone. "There's no way I'm letting you go alone Lani" Trae said. "You heard him Trae he's gonna kill her" I cried. "He's crazy you've seen that" I pleaded. "He's gonna think you're alone baby. He won't know I'm there you just have to trust me " he said. "Let's just wait for the location and we'll come up with a plan". "Ok I do trust you " I said. Then we waited for him to drop his location.

Five minutes later the pin finally came through with the location. It felt like an hour. Kai was on Trae's yacht where we first met at his birthday party. Trae ran into the dining room and came back with Tris. He quickly told Trae what was up while I ran upstairs and changed into som jeans, a tank top and some tennis shoes. By the time I came back downstairs Trae and Tris were waiting for me with a plan in place. Trae shot his mom a text telling her something important came up and we wouldn't be making it to dinner then we all quickly walked outside. Trae and Tris were riding in Tris' Escalade and I was taking Trae's Range Rover. Trae ran to his truck and went into the glove box. When he turned around he had a gun in his hand. "I want you to take this with you bae I'm not taking any chances of him hurting you" he said. Then he showed me how to turn off the safety and c**k it. I had never handled a gun in my life but I knew I had to have it with me. Kai was crazy and unpredictable and I was taking any chances of him hurting Dee. I quickly jumped in the Range while Trae and Tris jumped in the Escalade and we headed to the Miami port. The plan was for Trae and Tris to come up to the port from the opposite side on their nearly silent jet skis. They were going to climb up onto the yacht from the bow and sneak up on Kai. I prayed this was gonna work. I couldn't live if something happened to Dee or Trae.

A few minutes later I pulled up at the port and parked. I hopped out the truck, took the gun off safety and put it in the back of my jeans and pulled my tank top down over it. I was shaking with just the idea of having to use it. But don't get it twisted, I would blow that motherfuckers head off before I Iet him hurt my friend or my man. I jogged up the ramp to the yacht and Kai met me at the top. "Well hello princess don't you look beautiful tonight" he said with a sly look on his face. "Kai lets not do this" I said. "What do you want from me? Where the hell is Dee" I asked impatiently. "Follow me princess" he said. "I have a lovely evening planned for us". I was cringing inside with the thought of him touching me. A man I once thought was fine as hell had turned into someone who completely disgusted me. I guess what they say is true, beauty really comes from within. You can be fine as hell and also be ugly as hell.

I followed Kai onto the boat and into Trae's below deck bedroom. He had Dee tied to the canopy bed now. Her wrists were tied to the top posts and her ankles were tied to the bottom posts. She had a gag in her mouth and she was in only her bra and panties. She had mascara all over her face from crying and her bottom lip was busted and bleeding. "Oh my God Dee" I said and lunged for her. But before I could get to her Kai snatched me back by my hair. "Not yet princess" he said with a sinister laugh. "There will be plenty of time for that after we're done" he said. I wanted to grab the gun and shoot him right there but I knew I had to stall for time so that Trae and Tris could get to us. I could feel that we were moving now and I wondered who was steering the yacht. I hadn't even considered that Kai might have someone with him. I started sweating, stressing about someone getting the drop on Trae and Tris. "Have a seat princess we have a lot to discuss" Kai said breaking me out of my thoughts. I faced him and he pulled a chair over and forced me into it by my shoulders. Then he sat down on the other chair. He reached out and grabbed both of my hands " I've missed you princess" he said. "I can't believe you would choose that bougie ass nigga over me". "Look Kai you and I were friends. You were like a brother to me" I said. "Why are you doing this" I asked. "Shut up b***h" he yelled. "I've never been your f*****g brother". "You're just a f*****g tease" he seethed. "You made me think you wanted to be with me then I introduce you to Trae and you f**k him" he spat out. "Kai I never meant to lead you in in any way" I said. "Shut up you f*****g w***e" he yelled. Just then I heard a loud bump above deck. "What is that princess" he asked. "Did you disobey my orders"? He stood up and started walking out of the room towards the top deck. I jumped out of my chair, pulled the gun out and c****d it. He turned around when he heard the clicking of the gun and put his hands in the air. "Whoa whoa whoa princess calm down" he said. "Don't f*****g call me that Kai! I'm not your f*****g princess" I spat out. "Of course you are princess, don't say that" he said moving towards me. "Stop Kai I will blow your f*****g brains all over this boat" I shouted. My hands were shaking holding the gun. Kai noticed and laughed at me. "You don't have the f*****g balls" he said and lunged for the gun. He grabbed my hands and knocked me down. "Sit yo ass down b***h" he growled. "Kai please don't do this" I begged as I sat down. "Hahaha" he laughed. "It ain't no fun when the rabbit has the gun is it" he asked. "Kai you don't want to do this" I pleaded. "Don't f*****g tell me what I want to do" he said through gritted teeth. "You disrespected me" he spat. "What the f**k do you even see in that bougie as Mama's boy" he asked. When I didn't respond he shouted "answer me"! I could hear Dee whimpering behind me. I hoped he hadn't hurt her more than what was visible. I turned around to look at her and when I turned back Trae was in the doorway. He put his finger to his lips to tell me not to alert Kai to his presence. "Kai I always cared about you " I said. "I had no idea that you had feelings for me too". "You're a liar" he said "Don't lie to me" he spat and reached out to put the gun against my head. Then Trae was on him. He side swiped him from behind knocking him out of his chair and the gun slid across the floor. I dove for it and picked it up. When I turned around they were fighting. Trae was tearing his ass up. Kai fell into the dresser and came back up with a large candlebra, he was just about to clock Trae over the head with it when I felt myself squeeze the trigger. I shot Kai in the top of his left leg and he fell to the floor screaming. "You f*****g shot me you b***h" he yelled out in agony. "You f*****g right I did! Don't make me shoot you again Kai" I said through gritted teeth. Trae rushed over to me and reached for the gun. I wasn't ready to give it up though. I gripped it tightly and kept me eyes focused on Kai. I had tears streaming down my face. "No Trae" I said. " We can't let him walk out of here. He will never stop" "Give me the gun baby the police are on their way" he said. I looked Trae in his eyes and said "ok". I let him take the gun. He put it on safety and put it in the back of his pants. Then he walked over and untied Dee. He walked back over to Kai and tied his wrists behind his back then pulled it up off the floor. We all walked out of the room and to the upper deck. When we walked out I saw Tris and he had some guy tied up walking him to the ramp. I could see the police lights and I felt relief. It was finally over.
