Chapter 6

3 Weeks later

It had been three weeks and not a day had gone by that Kai hadn't called or texted my phone begging me to let him explain. I refused to talk to him. I mean that nigga had actually slapped me down! He left bruises on my face! I had nothing more to say to him. But my money was looking funny and I had to find a new hustle if I was going to maintain my new lifestyle.

I was in the bathroom doing my hair when there was a knock at my door. I ran downstairs and looked through the peephole and saw Dee on the other side. I opened the door and let her in. "Hey girl what's up" I asked. "You ready to go grab some lunch and get our nails done" she asked. "Yep just let me finish my hair real quick and we can slide" I said. I was standing in the mirror doing my hair and Dee was sitting on the toilet watching. "So what's up with you and Trae" she sang his name. "He's amazing! I mean so far. He takes me on the most amazing dates" I bragged. "I mean last week he flew me in his private jet to have dinner in Manhattan at the Peak! You can literally see all of lower Manhattan from our table! It was beautiful!" I screeched. "Holy s**t! I'm jelly! But I'm so happy for you! " Dee exclaimed. "If anyone deserves happiness like that it's you" she said. I reached over and pulled her into a tight hug.

A few minutes later we were in my car headed to get our nails done and grab some lunch. We were sitting in a booth at Mr & Mrs Krabs when Dee dropped the bomb on me. "So I need to tell you something " she said quietly. "Okayyy" I said slowly. "You know you can tell me anything right? You're my girl " I said. "I've still been dancing for Kai" she blurted out! I was in shock for a minute. Then I replied" why would you still be dealing with him? You saw what he did to me. What if he does it to you " I asked. "He won't " she said full of confidence. "What makes you so sure" I asked her. "Because he's not in love with me" she replied. It was like I got slapped in the face again. "What are you saying Dee" I asked. "I'm saying that Kai is in love with you Lani. How can you not know that " she asked. I sat there stunned silent for a few seconds then said " how the hell would I know that?" "He told me that he is in love with you and when he saw you kissing Trae he saw red and lost his s**t " she said. Oh my God! Kai in love with me? WTF? "That still doesn't excuse him putting his hands on me Dee" I replied. "No but it explains it" she said. "Look I'm not mad at you for dancing for him I just don't want you to get hurt and what I saw in Kai's eyes that night scared the s**t out of me" I said. "I'll be ok girl. I can take care of myself " she said. "I hope so because if he hurts you I swear I'll kill him dead" I replied.

When I pulled up to my driveway I saw that I had a package on my doorstep. I picked it up intrigued, unlocked my door and walked in. Dee was right on my heels. "What is that" she asked. "Who's it from" she asked. "Damn girl I don't know yet" I laughed. "Give me a minute to see" I said and put the package down on the table. It was in a teal colored box, wrapped in pretty white ribbon. I opened the box and moved the tissue paper aside to reveal a beautiful gown! I pulled it out and held it up against my body and turned to look in the mirror. It was gorgeous! It was white and sparkly. It was down to my ankles with a slit up to the top of my thigh. The back had a chain that wrapped around my neck and fell down my back to the top of my ass. The front swooped down between my breasts. I had never seen something so beautiful! I reached over and picked up the card and opened it. It read " See you at 7. Wear the dress. Love, Trae". "Oh my God it's from Trae" Dee exclaimed. "Yes it is" is all I said. "Girl you got you a winner" she said and we both laughed.

I hopped out of a bubble bath and dried off. Slid on some pretty, white lingerie and smoothed on some glitter lotion. I sat down at my vanity and put my makeup on as if I were painting a masterpiece. I decided on wearing my hair up and let some curls fall down my neck. I put on some white gold jewelry and my white, strappy Louboutins. I felt like Cinderella! I sprayed my Marc Jacobs Daisy and sat bouncing my foot while I waited for Trae to pull up.

At 6:55 I saw his lights hit the windows and hopped up. I ran to the door and opened it where he met me with a beautiful red rose corsage. He slid it on my wrist and kissed my hand. "Your carriage awaits milady" he said. I snorted a little bit and said "you're such a cornball". "You know you love it" he replied. "Yes I do" I said. I looked passed him and saw a white stretch hummer limo. I let out a little squeal. "You're so cute" he said. "Why thank you good sir" I laughed. "Now who's the cornball" he asked. He guided me to the limo where there was a driver standing with the door open I got in first and Trae got in behind me and the driver closed the door behind us.

"Where are we going" I asked in my sweetest voice. "It's a surprise" he laughed. "How did I know you were gonna say that" I asked. "I guess you're getting to know me a little huh" he said. I smiled sweetly and laid my head on his shoulder. He grabbed two champagne flutes and popped the cork of a bottle then poured us a glass each. I started sipping on mine. "I just want to spoil you a little and show you something different" he said in his sexy ass rumble. "I'm down with that" I said. "Good" he replied.

We pulled up to the port of Miami and I realized we were going out on his yacht again. "We're going on the yacht" I asked. "Yes but that's not the surprise" he said real sly. He linked his arm with mine and led me up the ramp. When we walked onto the boat he led me up to the bow. There were lights strung everywhere and a table in the middle that was set for two. There was a small live orchestra playing Miguel's song Sure Thang. "I love this song" I said. "Me too" he said. "I always think of you when I hear it". Was this man for real? It scared me to think about him not being what he seems to be. Typically I would run away but I couldn't even think about waking up tomorrow and not talking to him. Was I falling in love with this man? Hell, I think I'm already in love with him.

Trae pulled out my chair and I sat down as he walked around to the other side of the table and sat. He rang a little bell and a waiter came to the table with two wine glasses and a bottle of Merlot. He poured until we said when. " Sir your dinner will be served soon" the waiter said. "Thanks G" Trae replied. "G as in like Geoffrey" I laughed hard. "A real prince of Bel Air huh" I laughed some more. "Oh you think that's cute do ya" he laughed with me. "Actually his name is Gary" he said. "I just call him G. He's been with my family since I was a kid" he said.

"So Leilani, what makes you happy " he asked. "Well as of lately you" I replied. "That's good to know " he laughed. " Just then the servers came out with dinner. They placed a plate in front of me covered with a metal Cloche covering it. Then did the same for Trae. When they removed the metal Cloche there was a beautiful lobster, bacon wrapped asparagus, new potatoes with green onions, and an amazing looking garlic roll or something. "This is amazing" I said and reached over and grabbed his hand. "I'm glad you like it baby" he said. We ate dinner and talked and laughed and enjoyed each other's company. I told him about Kai still trying to call me and about what Dee dropped on me earlier at lunch. he expressed his concerns about her continuing to work for him but like me, there's nothing he can do to stop her.

The servers came out and removed our dinnerware and brought out lava cake for

Desert with vanilla ice cream. "Oh my gosh this is so good " I moaned out. He reached over and fed me a spoon full of chocolatey goodness. Then he stood up and walked around to my side of the table, grabbed my hand and said "can I have this dance"? "Why of course" I replied taking his hand in mine and standing to my feet. "I'm warning you I might be able to shake my ass on a pole but I don't know anything about slow dancing like this" I said. "Slip those beautiful heels off" he said. "Huh, why" I asked. "Just do it" he said. So I unstrapped my heals and slid them off. "Now step onto my feet" he said. "Seriously Trae" I said but I did as I was told. He started slowly gliding around the deck while I was standing on his feet. I looked him in his eyes adoringly and said "no one has ever made me feel so special". "You are special to me" he replied. I laid my head on his shoulder and smiled feeling so adored, I could have cried. Just then fireworks started flying through the sky and I jumped laughing out loud. They were so beautiful! He just stood there and held me tight while we watched them until they stopped.

"Come with me" he said. "I have something for you". I followed behind him holding his hand. He led me to the lower deck where there was a beautiful canopy king size bed and the most beautiful furniture I'd ever seen. He walked over to the dresser and picked up a black felt box. Then he walked slowly back to me never breaking eye contact. He opened the box when he reached me and it was the most beautiful necklace I had ever seen in my life! "Oh my God Trae this is too much" I exclaimed. "If you ask me it's not enough. He took it out and walked around behind me and clasped it on me.

I slowly turned to face him. He reached down and cradled my face in his big hands. Then he leaned down and kissed me and I melted into a puddle at his feet.
