27 Philippe The doctor has come and gone, and Shauna slept through the entire thing. Her foot is balanced on a tower of pillows. He is back to a spot he has been in too many times in the last few weeks. Sitting at Shauna’s bedside, waiting for her to wake up. They had arrived a few hours before the sun fully set, but now the moon is high in the sky. Shauna groans and twists. “Ow!” She groans, waking up as her foot falls to the bed. “What…? Where are we?” she mumbles, rubbing her eyes. “Hey,” he says, moving his chair closer to her side. “How are you feeling?” He wants to reach out and lift her foot back onto the pillows but also let her move on her own as she needs.
