Day 2,377 EVA PERCHED ATOP ANOTHER apple tree. She had spent the morning gathering its fruit. She hadn’t gotten sick from the first apple she had eaten. More incredibly, her skin was glowing, and as she peered out beyond the branches overlooking the island’s shores, she was feeling better than she had felt in, well, forever. She held a green apple in her hand and brought it to her lips, taking a large bite out of it. As she chewed and searched the north beach for signs of her boat, she spotted something strange, a bit of rock peeking out above the trees and shrubs bordering the sand. She had never noticed the large rock from the ground. It was definitely something new, something for her to explore.
