Rose woke up to the smell of pancakes filling the house She opened her eyes hoping all that happened was a bad dream but by the time she saw she was in her friend's room, she started crying again. “You promised you were never going to hide anything from me “ She sobbed. After crying some more she got up and noticed some clothes on the bed and she knew Katherine put them there. She walked to the bathroom, took a shower and brushed her teeth before heading to the kitchen with the smell of pancakes filling up the house. “Good morning my friend” Rose chipped happily “I know you’ve been finding it hard to eat anything since you got here so I made your favourite, pancakes, bacon and eggs !“ “Good morning, Well you know I wouldn’t say no to that.” Rose picked a plate she laid out for her, took a bite and said “Thank you, for this, for everything. I’ve been a mess lately and I wouldn’t have done this without you.” Katherine said, “It’s nothing my friend, I will do more if I can.” She sat with her plate “But I would not deny that you have been a mess. Look at you! It’s been three weeks girl, do you plan to hide in here forever? Even your phone has been going off several times !” She added. “I’m just not in the mood to do anything right now,” Rose said tiredly. “On the flip side, I have been letting you have your way, waiting for you to come around but not anymore .” Katherine walked over to Rose’s side of the table and dragged her out to the living room “ I love you and that’s why you need to face this situation head-on” Kate said as she stared affectionately at her as she handed her phone to her “you need to talk to him.” “That’s not a good idea Kate” Rose said as she tried to get a grip of herself from not being sad all over again. Kate paid no attention to her and went ahead “he has asked to introduce you to the boy and his family.” Rose stood up and walked from the table to the kitchen sink to dump in her plates. “I don’t think I’m ready to confront him and the donor family yet.” She said woefully. Regardless of Rose’s sunken face, Katherine walked to her with a spring in her step, “My love, with a situation as complicated as this, I don’t think you’d ever be ready. But you need to face this head-on, Remember it’s not your fault.” Katherine grabbed her both hands to guide her to stand up and spin her “ But tonight, we are forgetting our worries and we are going partying !” She chipped happily “Kate, let me go!” Rose shrieked smiling. “I’ll do what you want” She said so Kate would let her go. “I have just the perfect dress for you” Katherine stopped immediately she got her answer and smiled like a winner. - Katherine grinned when she saw Rose walk out to show her the dress “ You look breathtaking!” She exclaimed. She can not deny that the dress looks like it was made for her. It was a red bandage dress that hugged her curves and had a little incision at the front that showed a view of her cleavage. She paired them with a pair of black court heels and a black purse. Rose blushes, “come on, stop,” she says, grinning. She waves Katherine off and goes in to touch up her makeup and apply her red lipstick and moments later, they leave the house ready to paint the city red. The club was already packed when they arrived. Sweaty bodies collided against each other with loud music in every corner. “We are going to the VIP section,” Kate said, almost shouting. Immediately they entered, all eyes marvelled at the two beauties and who they were as they got in and settled down. “I’m getting drunk tonight, just so you know,” Rose said and Katherine just laughed. They had a few drinks then Katherine dragged Rose to the dance floor “Let’s see what moves you got, Miss Shakira”. They took turns dancing and laughing as they forgot their worries when suddenly, a handsome gentleman tapped Rose on the shoulder. Immediately she turned, she almost lost her balance. She stared fixated on a pair of piercing crystal blue eyes that looked like something out of a movie. They looked so familiar and for a moment she couldn’t place where she had seen them until almost immediately she did. “Oh my God Kevin, is that you?” Rose screamed but it was barely noticeable over the loud jamming of the music. “In the flesh, “ he said as he bent to talk to her in her ears. His deep, velvet voice carried with it a subtle accent, the kind that lingered pleasantly in the air and made even the most mundane words sound irresistible for a second Rose swooned a bit but gained composure before anyone could notice. Kevin stood effortlessly at over six feet, every inch of him emitting a commanding yet relaxed confidence. His broad shoulders extended beneath a tailored dark jacket, emphasizing the lean strength of his muscular build. The sharp lines of his jaw were outstanding in a way that invited curiosity and touch. His thick, tousled dark hair framed his face, just wild enough to suggest rebellion despite his polished appearance. His gaze held steady as his eyes sweeper my body slowly. “What are you doing here, I thought you were in LA?” She inquired. A slow, confident smirk curved his lips, revealing a charm that was equal parts roguish and sincere. Rose and Kevin were childhood friends and grew up together in the same kindergarten, junior school and high school but got separated after Kevin got admitted to the University of California. “I have a few engagements to sort out in town and also pay a visit to my mum.” Kevin paused. “ Who’s your friend?” Rose had almost forgotten Katherine was right beside her. “This is Katherine. You should remember her, I know she’s had a crazy glow-up since high school “ Rose said chuckling. “It’s good to see you again Kevin” Katherine said as she moved forward to hug him. “Well ladies, I’d have to be on my way. We should find out to catch up” Kevin said as he stared deeply into Rose’s eyes. It was obvious there was tension between them. “I guess we’ll see you around, Kevin “ She responded almost breathless. They said their goodbyes and he walked away towards another section of the club. They watched him walk away. He moved with purpose, each step deliberate yet graceful, like a predator aware of the power he wielded but not in a rush to use it. His scent, a mix of fresh cedar, smoky amber, and something uniquely his, lingered faintly, teasing the senses without overwhelming them. There was a magnetism about him, a blend of rugged masculinity and refined elegance, the kind that made heads turn and conversations falter. He seemed both approachable and untouchable, a contradiction wrapped in effortless allure. And when he smiled fully which he did sparingly, as if saving it for the moments that mattered it was enough to steal breath and make time stand still. “Earth to Babe!” Katherine screamed almost tearing up with laughter because of how lost Rose was in the gentleman that just left. Rose growing up always had a huge crush on Kevin but they never dated because he was in a relationship with his high school sweetheart, Elena so she settled for being good friends with him. “It seems your crush on Kevin is still in there “ Katherine teased. “Get over yourself Kate,” she laughed “ I was just surprised to see him here, but I think I need a drink.”She grabbed Kate by the hands and they had a few drinks. After drinking and dancing for a bit, they headed home. On the way home, all Rose could think of were those piercing blue eyes then it occurred to her that she had not thought of her husband and wondered if the news would create a rift between them.
