John and basil backstory: Part 2

The relationship between basil lekapenos and john tzimiske grew stronger over the time. It got so well that basil finally decided to reveal his secret identity to john.

During the early days of basil, basil meet a man who identified as a former byzentine soldier who have known his mother. This man is one of the soldiers who survived from that annihilation lead by general nikephoros.

The man tells everything about him and how he is a prince of this kingdom. That is how basil knows who he is and how he got here. That is the only thing which is motivating himself to go beyond his limit and achieve greatness throughout the kingdom.

Upon hearing what basil had to say, john literally just smirks and replies with “Wow".

Seriously dude, you are telling me emperor romenos is your father? That's so hard to believe. I know you, i don't think you are the type of a person who would lie to me. The story also seems believable. I have heard about that raid once, your story would explain why the king suddenly destroyed that city. 

So basil, what is your goal? Why are you in the army? Do you wanna avenge your mother or you wanna forget the past and serve your nation? Your life depends on the answer, i am not joking around this time.

What do you mean? I am fine with you revealing my identity to king romenos. I am never worried about losing my life. If you wanna know my goal in life, i sure will tell you about it. But i am not telling this by being afraid, i am telling you this because i see you as my friend.

Ever since learning about the truth, about who i am. I promised myself that i will be someone who is known throughout the kingdom and I won't even stop at that. I will become someone who is praised around the whole world.

Wah, that's some great dream. How are you supposed to achieve that bro?

It might sound dumb and unbelievable.

Just say it bro, it is just you and me here under the moon.

I want to grow strong and become a general with many men. I will do my best to be someone who can influence the royal court. When i achieve my greatness, i will do my best to become the next emperor of this kingdom.

Ahahahahahahaha, here i thought i had the wildest dream of all. You have the most crazy dream dude.

No, sorry about that. I don't think that is something which is not possible to achieve. You have the royal blood of phorus inside you, you sure can take the throne if you are worthy. 

My mother belonged to the royal family of byzentinum, my father was a noble. My uncle is a higher up royal family member, who is one of the biggest general of our kingdom. Even i sometimes wish to take the throne in the future. 

So basil, let us do our best and achieve our goals. Now we are rivals, ain't we?

The byzentine conquest was again taking place. This time the empire has targeted the tripoli borders.

955 Century, the war between the Abbasid empire and the Byzentine empire starts.

General john tzimiske was sent to tripoli borders to conquer the region. With a massive army consisting of 20 thousand men. John enters the small city in tripoli and starts dominating it.

The city was guarded by 15 thousand strong men.

John tzimiske did not wanted to rush things and let himself stay behind and watch the war from behind. John gives 10 thousand men to basil lekapenos and gives 5 thousand to another commander. The remaining 5 thousand stays behind to guard john.

This war was a huge opportunity for basil, as he might even get promoted to the ranks of a general. John tzimiske was 30 years old, he was already a great general.

The city did not enough large walls to protect it, so beating the army which are guarding it would easily make them victorious.

Basil had only 10 thousand men whom he can command, there were five thousand more attacking the city from another side.

The abbasids were in a walls formation, directly raging at them would mean suicide. Basil takes his five thousand men and tells them to attack  the opponent directly. The only job they were given was to make the opponents tired, they were ordered not to attack them in rush and try to kill them. All they had to do was make them tired and do damage on them as much as possible while being on defensive side.

This worked against the aggressive side of abbasids. 

The five thousand soldiers killed almost 3 thousand soldiers , only 7 thousand remained at basils side. The other five thousand men were fighting with the other commander sent by john.

Only 2 thousand men out of five thousand were killed. Basil has done something that not even the average generals could do.

The remaining seven thousand soldiers were already getting tired over fighting the remaining three thousand men of basil.

Basil does not waste any time and attacks the abbasids with his remaining five thousand men, before the three thousand also collapses.

By combining the three thousand with five, the forces of basil became way too powerful for the abbasids to resist. It toke very little time for basil to destroy the abbasids and kill their commander. After defeating his opponents, basil joins the other side to help them out. That made sure the byzentine conquest a success.

THe region of tripoli was conquered by the great general john tzimiske.

Basil and others returns to the capital city of the holy roman empire, Constantinople.

Basil was highly appreciated by all of the higher rank officers, john made sure everyone gets to know about what he did.

The emperor romenos II appointed a meeting with the two commanders and john 3 days after returning to the city.

It was finally the day basil was waiting for, basil could finally meet his mothers killer face to face, his own father.

The boys were welcomed in kings palace , all of them were wearing nice fancy clothes.

One after another, emperor romenos were praising the victors. Until he comes infront of basil to congratulate him.

Basil was so nervous that the king immediately realised it and tried to end the conversation as fast as he could. Before the king could leave, basil stops him.

Basil asks for few minutes to talk, which the king approves.

Basil finally reveals his identity to the king , he says it in the kings ear so that nobody could hear. Romenos did not waste any time and believes what basil had said. The emperor tells basil to meet him the next day when there is no celebration party like today. The emperor puts on a fake smile and leaves.

John tzimiske knew what basil was about to say, so when basil reveals that he has said it. John doesn't give any shocking reaction.
