John and Basil backstory: Part 1

On your foot soldier.

Yeeeees sir.

The Abbasid empire (An empire created by an arab tribe leader, this arabic tribe worships a trinity god. They believe the world was created by 3 Gods. ) attacked one of the major cities of the byzentine empire. General nikephoros was sent to the location as a back up and help the general guarding the city. 

The “Flaming dragon" band lead by john tzimiske was also appointed to participate in this war. The band consisted of one thousand strong man. At this point basil was already a high ranked officer of this band. Basil was one of the four commander to lead the army. Each commander had 200 men under him, the remaining 200 men would stay with the supreme commander john tzimiske. 

Upon arriving at the gigantic city, they can already see the abbasids winning the war. They have killed most of the byzentine forces guarding the city. The abbasids had 6 thousand soldiers, the byzentine back up force lead by the general nikephoros consisted of eight thousand. The byzentine already had a huge power gap, but it was not enough. The abbasids were extremely skilled, the numbers did not matter. They started slaughtering their opponents one after another.

The general nikephoros sends his right hand man, general steffen to lead a direct charge. 

General nikephoros stays outside the city with some soldiers while sending most of his men inside the city to protect it from the invaders.

General steffen had 7 thousand men along with him, he devides them into 7 and charges the abbasids in every direction. 

The abbasids however choose to go defensive and creates a strong defense by staying together.

2 byzentine groups attack the right side of the abbasids, both of them gets annihilated by the skilled warriors of the abbasids. The destruction of these groups were a huge hit to the general. He decides to attack them in three direction at the same time, while it did work and gave a huge hit to the abbasids. It costed the byzentine more than what it did to the abbasids.

Abbasids had only 2 thousand men left, while the gigantic byzentine army had only 3 thousand men remaining.

John tzimiske was finally informed to lead an attack with his thousand men.

“Finally it is my time to rise and show my might. All my soldiers, who are we?

We are the unbeatable force, we are the soldiers of god. "

The abbasids had a cavalry consisting of a very skilled assassin class warriors. Even one hundred of those warriors could rival a thousand men cavalry. This special cavalry had two hundred men and they were sent after the cavalry lead by john tzimiske.

John tzimiske did not wanted a battle of strategy, as all the other commanders tried doing it and got killed. John relied on his brute strength and created a needle formation. Basil and others were against it and told him it was a bad idea. Obviously john does not listen to anyone and went with his own plan.

The flaming dragon band created a needle formation and directly charged at the abbasids one thousand men strong army, which also had two hundred skilled assassin class warriors. 

The needle formation started to work well, john charged the army himself and was successfully dominating the battle field.

General steffen was witnessing the might of john tzimiske.

John tzimiske almost destroys the one thousand men strong cavalry, only to get stopped by a strong cavalry unit. This unit is the same assassin class warriors from before. One of the strongest guy from the unit comes out and calls out the leader of the flaming dragon band. The abbasid warriors calls john tzimiske and challenges him on a duel. He tells his men to back off and not to interfere.

John?

John doesn't show any hesitation and comes out to confront him directly.

The entire cavalry of john tzimiske was showing fear towards the enemies. They were getting overwhelmed by the might of those warriors.

“What is your name?" The abbasid warrior asks.

“I am john tzimiske, the mighty warrior of byzentinum" john replies.

“I am iblis, a warrior who belongs to the turkish dragon class. I joined the army to destroy my enemies. Nobody ever has able to stop me, until you. You have destroyed more than 50 skilled warriors of mine. I am very impressed, that is why i ask a duel with you. "

“My dream is to get strong and protect my people, i cannot achieve that unless i become strong. In order to become strong, i need to fight strong men. I accept your duel iblis"

Both the commanders tells everyone to stay out of this. Both the warriors finally starts their duel.

John tzimiske brings out his long and thick sword. Iblis on the other hand already withdrew his huge spear looking sword. Iblis tries finishing john with a single stroke. Iblis jumps towards john with the sword to cut john and split him into two, while john stays on his ground and remains calm. In a blink of an eye, john unleashes his sword towards iblis, who was already infront of him as he was charging at him.

John cuts down one of the hands of iblis in the process and i iblis falls on the ground.

HAhaha, i knew it. You are strong kid , it has been so long since i last time fought someone with my life on the ground.

You are strong iblis, you just had over confidence. Lesson number one, never approach your opponent without knowing them beforehand.

Yewwwaaaaahhhh

The soldiers on johns side starts screaming with joy while the soldiers under iblis gets terrified with shock. One of the men of iblis attacks john from behind and john gets caught in it. John forgot to be careful because of his victory, he almost gets stabbed but basil saves him from being stabbed. The men of iblis was extremely skilled, he easily counters basil and stabbes him first. John looks behind and wastes no time to put the man to sleep. John cuts down his head with the sword and sees basil laying on the ground.

“Lesson number two, never forget to look your back. "

Basil was in critical condition and john orders his mens to take him to the back and get him to the medics.

The fight brokes out between john tzimiske and the abbasids and john comes out victoriously. Meanwhile the other cavalry was also done defeating the abbasids.

The war was over, with byzentine empire coming out victoriously.

This war boasted the reputation of general nikephoros. The one who got the most praise was the commander john tzimiske. He has beaten the army lead by the famous warrior iblis. The victory was enough to prove that john tzimiske was worthy enough to become a general. At the age of only 20, john tzimiske becomes a general. John tzimiske was promoted to the position by the king romenos himself and was heavily supported by his uncle nikephoros.

John was not happy with the outcome of the war. All he was thinking about is basil, is he alright?

The thought of basil was making john sick from the inside. John one day wents to see basil,

The doctors said your condition has gotten better, how are you feeling now?

Far better, you should not be seeing me. You are a general now, you have better things to do.

NO, you saved my life. I owe you alot, i just want you back in my cavalry.

I just did my job, besides i cannot wait to finally join the army.
