It took a lot longer than I thought it would for the guards to arrive. Val was getting antsy, too. I could tell by the way he fidgeted. He was as impatient as I was.
Trying to distract us a little, I told Val to remind me about the pure human when we were done. I didn’t want to leave her here behind. Val nodded, but kept looking at the entrance and tapping his foot. There wasn’t going to be much more rest. He needed to know what was up.
We went to where Jocelyn, Titus, and Lacey stood talking. They were speaking in a language I didn’t know. I hated it when people did that. Keeping secrets wasn’t cool.
