Daniel never truly moved on from Alyssa.

Even after their relationship ended, a part of his heart remained trapped in the past. He tried to forget her, tried to move forward, and even started flirting with another girl named Mia.

What began as a simple friendship slowly turned into something deeper.

Mia became his comfort.

His safe place.

The person who made him smile again.

Eventually, Daniel asked Mia to be his girlfriend, promising her that he was ready to love again.

But promises mean nothing when your heart is still somewhere else.

While secretly seeing Alyssa behind Mia's back, Daniel convinced himself that he could keep both worlds from falling apart.

He was wrong.

Because Mia discovered the truth.

And what Daniel didn't know was that Mia had her own secret.

After learning about his betrayal, Mia made a choice that would destroy whatever remained of their relationship.

She cheated too.

Their love became a battlefield of secrets, jealousy, lies, anger, and heartbreak.

Two people who once loved each other began hurting each other just to prove who could hurt less.

Until Daniel finally realized the truth.

Alyssa was his past.

Mia had been his chance at a future.

But by the time he understood that...

Mia was already gone.

For the first time, Daniel had to experience what it felt like to lose the person who truly loved him.

And this time, there would be no easy forgiveness.

No simple apology.

No promise that could erase the pain.

If Daniel wanted Mia back, he would have to start from the beginning.

He would have to court her again.

Earn her trust.

Prove that he had changed.

And most importantly...

prove that he could finally let go of the woman he had spent so long holding onto.

But just when Daniel and Mia begin rebuilding their broken relationship, a shocking secret from the past threatens to change everything they thought they knew.

Because sometimes...

the person you can't let go of isn't the person you're meant to keep.

And sometimes...

losing someone is the only way to realize how much they meant to you.

Can Daniel earn Mia's heart again?

Or will their love remain the one thing they never managed to save?

Some loves are meant to stay.

Some are meant to teach you.

And some...

are the love you never let go.

The Girl With the Coffee
I wasn't looking for love that morning. Honestly, I wasn't looking for anything. All I wanted was coffee.Strong coffee. The kind that could somehow make Monday mornings bearable. I stood in line at my favorite coffee shop, staring at my phone while checking the time every few seconds. 8:17 a.m. I had thirteen minutes before work. The line wasn't moving. Daniel: "Perfect."I sighed. Of all mornings to be late, it had to be Monday. I stepped forward when the person in front of me moved. Then someone suddenly bumped into my shoulder. Hard. I barely had time to react. A cup flew through the air. Then— Splash. Cold coffee covered the front of my white shirt. I froze. For several seconds, I simply stared at the stain. My favorite shirt. Ruined. I heard a small gasp. I slowly looked up. A girl stood in front of me, holding an empty coffee cup. Her eyes were wide. She looked completely terrified. Mia: "Oh my God." She looked at my shirt. Then at me. Mia: "I'm so sorry!" I looked down at myself again. Then back at her. Daniel: "Really?" She nodded quickly. Mia: "Yes! I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to." I couldn't help laughing. She frowned. Mia: "Why are you laughing?" Daniel: "Because you look more scared than I am." She pointed at my shirt. Mia: "I'm supposed to be scared! I just spilled coffee all over you." Daniel: "Technically, you spilled coffee on my shirt." Mia: "That's worse!" I laughed again. She crossed her arms. Mia: "You're enjoying this." Daniel: "A little." She stared at me. Mia: "You're annoying." I smiled. Daniel: "And you're dangerous." Her eyebrows lifted. Mia: "Dangerous?" Daniel: "You just attacked a stranger with coffee." She looked offended. Mia: "I didn't attack you!" Daniel: "It felt personal." Mia: "It was an accident." Daniel: "I know." She sighed and reached into her bag. Mia: "Here." She handed me a packet of tissues. I took them. Daniel: "Thanks." She looked at the stain again. Mia: "I'm really sorry." Daniel: "It's okay." Mia: "Are you sure?" Daniel: "Yeah." She hesitated. Mia: "I'll pay for the shirt." I raised an eyebrow. Daniel: "Really?" Mia: "Yes." She looked at the shirt again. Mia: "How much is it?" I smiled. Daniel: "I don't know." She looked worried. Mia: "Is it expensive?" Daniel: "Very." Her eyes widened. Mia: "How expensive?" I leaned slightly toward her. Daniel: "Emotionally." She stared at me. For a second, she looked confused. Then she realized I was joking. Mia: "You're horrible." I laughed. Daniel: "And you're dangerous." She rolled her eyes. Mia: "You already said that." Daniel: "You already spilled coffee on me." She tried not to smile. She failed. And for some reason, I noticed. Her smile. Her eyes. The little way she tucked her hair behind her ear. I immediately looked away. I shouldn't have been noticing those things. Not when my heart was still stuck somewhere else. Alyssa. Just thinking about her made my smile disappear. Eight months. It had been eight months since she left. Eight months since she told me she couldn't do it anymore. Eight months since I watched the woman I loved walk away. And somehow... I still hadn't moved on. Mia suddenly checked her phone. Her eyes widened. Mia: "Oh no!" Daniel: "What?" Mia: "I'm late!" She quickly grabbed her bag. Mia: "I really have to go." Daniel: "Wait." She stopped. I held up the empty cup. Daniel: "You forgot your weapon." She stared at it. Then laughed. Mia: "You're impossible." I smiled. Daniel: "And you still haven't told me your name." She hesitated. Then smiled. Mia: "Mia." Daniel: "Mia." I don't know why I repeated her name. Maybe I liked how it sounded. She smiled. Mia: "And yours?" Daniel: "Daniel." She nodded. Mia: "Nice to meet you, Daniel." Daniel: "Nice to meet you too." She turned toward the door. Then stopped. She looked back at me. Mia: "I'm really sorry about your shirt." I smiled. Daniel: "I'll survive." She laughed. Then she walked away. I watched her disappear through the glass door. For some reason, I couldn't stop smiling. I looked down at my ruined shirt. Then toward the door. Daniel: "What just happened?" I had no idea. But something told me I wasn't going to forget her. I arrived at work seventeen minutes late. Lucas looked at me the moment I entered. His eyes immediately went to my shirt. Lucas: "What happened?" Daniel: "Coffee." He laughed. Lucas: "You spilled it?" Daniel: "Someone spilled it on me." He looked at me suspiciously. Lucas: "A girl?" I dropped my bag beside my chair. Daniel: "Why does everyone assume that?" Lucas: "Because you're smiling." Daniel: "I'm not." Lucas: "You are." I touched my face. Lucas laughed. Lucas: "Definitely a girl." I rolled my eyes. Daniel: "Her name is Mia." His eyebrows lifted. Lucas: "There." Daniel: "What?" Lucas: "You're smiling again." Daniel: "Shut up." Before I could say anything else, my phone vibrated. I looked down. My smile disappeared. Alyssa. For several seconds, I simply stared at her name. I hadn't heard from her in weeks. Why was she messaging me now? I opened the message. Hi. One word. One stupid word. And somehow, my heart still reacted to it. Another message appeared. Are you busy? I locked my phone. Lucas looked at me. Lucas: "Her?" I nodded. Lucas: "Don't answer." Daniel: "I wasn't going to." Lucas: "Good." I put my phone inside my drawer. I tried to work. But my mind was already somewhere else. Back to Alyssa. Back to our memories. Back to the night she left. I remembered everything. The rain. Her tears. My begging. Her silence. And finally, the words that destroyed me. "I'm done, Daniel." I had asked her to stay. She didn't. And somehow, eight months later... I was still waiting for her to come back. Three days later, I returned to the coffee shop. I told myself it was because I wanted coffee. That was a lie. I wanted to see Mia. She wasn't there. I ordered anyway. The next day, I came back. Still nothing. The day after that... nothing. Maybe I would never see her again. Maybe that was better. I had enough problems already. Then Friday afternoon, someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around. Mia smiled. Mia: "You're the coffee victim." I laughed. Daniel: "You." She nodded. Mia: "Me." I looked at her. Daniel: "You disappeared." She raised an eyebrow. Mia: "Excuse me?" Daniel: "You weren't here." She smiled slowly. Mia: "How do you know?" I realized what I'd just said. Daniel: "I..." She laughed. Mia: "You were looking for me?" Daniel: "No." Mia: "Sure." Daniel: "I just noticed." She smiled. Mia: "Right." She ordered her coffee and turned back toward me. Mia: "How's the shirt?" Daniel: "Dead." She laughed. Mia: "I told you I'd replace it." Daniel: "You still owe me." She held up her cup. Mia: "Then I'll buy you coffee." I smiled. Daniel: "Deal." We sat together. We talked. Five minutes became thirty. Thirty minutes became an hour. Then somehow, three hours passed. We talked about music. Movies. Food. Family. Dreams. Everything. Nothing. It felt easy. Too easy. When I finally checked the time, I couldn't believe it. Mia laughed. Mia: "We've been talking for three hours." Daniel: "Seriously?" She nodded. I smiled. Daniel: "Didn't notice." She looked at me. Neither of us said anything for a moment. Then she smiled. Mia: "You know..." Daniel: "What?" Mia: "You're not as annoying as I thought." I smiled. Daniel: "That's disappointing." She laughed. And I realized something. I liked making her laugh. More than I should. Much more. That night, I lay in bed staring at the ceiling. My phone vibrated. A message from Mia. "Did you get home safely?" I smiled. "Yeah." Her reply came quickly. "Good." I stared at the screen. I wanted to say something else. Instead, I typed: "Don't spill coffee on anyone else." Her reply came almost immediately. "No promises." I laughed. I put my phone down. For the first time in months... I fell asleep smiling. I didn't think about Alyssa. Not once. I didn't wonder if she'd come back. I didn't think about our past. I simply slept. And I didn't know it yet... But that was the moment everything began to change. Because Mia wasn't supposed to become important. She was supposed to be a distraction. Someone who would help me forget Alyssa. But life doesn't always follow the plans we make. Sometimes, the person you meet while trying to forget someone else becomes the person you can't imagine living without. And sometimes... You don't realize you're falling in love until you're already too far gone to stop. I was already falling. I just didn't know it yet.
