CHAPTER 1: CONFINEMENT
Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Silburg, there was a girl born to the duke of Rosmanda. And this girl wasn’t a normal a girl. The day she was born the stars shined brightly in the sky that even astrologers were puzzled. That day, a message came from the god through the fragment that was said to be gift of god, saying that she is protector of fragment. The people still puzzled, as there was never any protector of fragment, accepted it as they were the words of god himself. The emperor of the Silburg, feeling that she has a big role to play in the future, declared her as the crown prince’s fiancée. But this is where things started to go wrong. “Father, I can listen to your thoughts” he said, as he looked into his father’s eyes. His father, not believing his 7-year-old son’s words, patted his head with a smile. “Oh really?” the king asked in a curious way. “Father, you were cursing Marquis Britelli for creating the trouble with the coal mine” his son said. Immediately, the emperor’s smile fell. A horrified look came on his face. He immediately held an emergency court, where he called all his trusted magicians and priests of the Silburg, to deal with the problem. But no one could find the solution. The emperor angrily shouted at them, “all of you are my best men. But you still can’t cure the crown prince”. “Your highness, we tried our best”, explained the head priest, “but I guess we found the cause and the reason for not finding any cure.” “Tell me” the emperor ordered; his anger was at the top point. “It’s just a guess, your highness” the priest said. “Don’t hesitate. Tell me frankly.” “The crown prince is cursed, your highness.” “What?” the emperor shouted.         The entire hall echoed his voice, as people stood trembling. “And I think he is cursed by a very powerful mage. So, we can’t trace who cursed him. And only the person who casted the curse can remove it” the high priest continued without any hesitation. The emperor could not do anything but only listen them. He drank his anger as worried for his only child. “Is it related to the fragment in any way?” he asked. “Maybe, your highness” the high priest said honestly. Ever since the protector of the fragment arrived, they always doubted that there are someone’s evil eyes on it. So, it selected a protector for itself. “What should we do?” the emperor asked, holding his head, leaning on his throne. “We have to hide the truth your highness. People cannot get to know that the crown prince is cursed” the high priest recommended. The emperor nodded, agreeing his words. The king of Silburg, confined the crown prince, in the darkest room of the palace. And so, Prince Edward Veld Stelard started to live in the darkness, because of his curse. Four years later, a small girl passing through the carriage, saw the church and people coming out after completing their evening prayers. They chatted and giggled with each other as they walked away in their own paths. It looked good as she saw people smiling. Suddenly her lavender eyes turned deep red, and even the screen around her turned red. She saw one the huge pillar near the entrance falling towards the entrance. The people looked at it with the frightened look as they shouted. Their face smiling few moments age disappeared under the dust coming from the pillar. Thud. Their shouts fade away as it fell on ground with a huge noise. The girl blinked as she swallowed. Suddenly the red screen disappeared. The people are still going home with smile on their face. It looked like a pleasant day with blue sky and chirping birds. “Stop the carriage” she shouted. “What happened?” her brother asked. “Stop the carriage” she said with tears in her eyes. Her brother stopped the carriage. She immediately jumped out and ran towards the pillar. She touched it; her hands cold with fear. “Lady Rosmanda, what happened?” the high priest asked when he found her at the entrance. “The pillar is going to fall and many people will die under it” she said. “What?” the high priest asked, confused. She looked at him with moist eyes filled with dread. “My sister saw a bad dream I guess” her brother said. No believed that 9-year-old girl’s plea. Who will believe that the pillar that has been standing since so centuries will fall? “It’s not a dream. I really saw it falling with my two eyes” she argued. “Don’t worry Lady Rosmanda, I will take care of it” the high priest said with smile, just to console her. “Really?” she asked. “Trust me” he said gently. She went from there with a light heart. But when looked at the pillar, she still felt goose bumps all around her body. A few day later news spread. The pillar fell, crushing many under it. Just like she saw. Then many incidents happened. Whenever she visited a new place, the world will suddenly become red, as if the world is suddenly painted in red, where she saw horrors and heard screams which only brought her fear and left her in tears. Her brother will drag her home, as he saw his sister becoming pale from fear. But everything happened, somewhere in near future, just as she saw. She started to blame herself. Guilty, she confined herself in the darkest rooms in the mansion of duke. She could not handle any more of those heart killing scenes. Those shouts and pleadings for help. The bodies of the dead that lifelessly looked at her. She wanted to escape that dark world. They were too much for her. “What is happening to her” her father, Duke Rosmanda asked the high priest, worried about his daughter. “I guess, these premonitions are the gift from the fragment to its protector” the high priest replied. He has been studying her situation and can only come to this conclusion. It has been two months since she started to get these premonitions. To explain the situation, the high priest personally visited the Rosmanda mansion to explain the situation “This is not a gift. It’s a curse” Duchess Rosmanda said with tears. “What should we do now?” Duke Rosmanda asked, worried. “Let her hide for now. Don’t let anyone know about her power” the high priest advised. “Why?” Duke Rosmanda asked. “I believe that Lady Rosmanda became the protector of the fragment for a certain reason. I believe there is someone plotting evil, and so the fragment decided to have a protector. That means whoever it is, fragment wants her to foil their plan. If they get to know about her gift, I fear it will only put her in danger” the high priest explained. The husband and wife looked at each other and nodded obediently. Their son, listening secretly from the window, vowed to protect his sister. And so, Romana Dan Rosmanda, started to live in darkness, because of her gift.
