Chapter Eight Chris had showered and changed into fresh clothes from the bag in his truck after carrying Ivy to the cabin behind Taz’s. It wasn’t lost on him when he set her down in the kitchen chair that the cabins were identical. He’d pulled ice from the freezer, packed it in a Ziploc bag, and wrapped a dishtowel around it. Ivy had taken the ice pack, rested it on her knee, and assured him she was fine. He’d waited outside her cabin for a time, though, until he saw the lights go on and off upstairs. Then he returned to Taz’s cabin, rustled up some sheets, and made the bed. He’d been asleep by the time his head had hit the pillow, and he didn’t wake until he heard voices outside.
